- In this video the racing pigeons are rapping up their season strong. our first year of pigeon racing has been a very interesting experience. I will look forward to next season. Pigeon racing is much more than meets the eye. So much to learn and improve on for next year!

It turned out prety good and I'm glad for the experience. I will do some things diferent next year and see if it helps. Yes Mark is a great guy and a man of his word also. They ran out of 2021 bands because there’s more pigeon fancier this year compare to last year! 😁
Thanks buddy, I I had no idea how it would go my first season but didn’t turn out too bad. As far as the bands it’s great that we have more fanciers this year but why is it a crime to make more bands I mean they ran out like seven months ago. They actually told me to Buy bands from Mexico and give them $1.75 each band to recognize the Mexican bands. That’s just ridiculous.

Why do you call them Rockyridge whites did you create your own bloodline?
I breed the best of them and don’t know what their original strain was so they needed a name and I just felt it made sense instead of calling them my white pigeons! Thanks for asking

Good view on your lofts
Nice update. I hope you did good on this race. It’s funny how some birds just like to take their sweet time to get back home.
They all have their different personalities and there’s not much we can do to change who they are. Unfortunately for them we don’t breed those ones.
Absolutely fabulous mike great job you and the birds put in the hard work keep it up love the videos mike a question when building a roller loft is there a certain direction you prefer to face the loft and do you prefer closed lofts or wire front lofts
Hi Wayne, Thanks for the support. I personally like to face the loft twords the mid day sun but I have them in all directions and it doesn't seem to matter much. On my roller loft I have it closed up at night but I can open up one side with wire for when its hot. Also I like to have an outside aviary so they can sun themselves. I only do wire bottoms in the lofts because it doesn't stay cold here in the winter for more than 5 to 6 weeks.

Keep a close eye on that dark checker. Any bird that can fly that distance and act like it was down the road 50 miles shows real quality.

I can but getting them across country lines is expensive and quarantine is hard on the birds.

Awesome job Mike and I'm happy we have something in common, our first race this year! Your birds did very well considering the geographical and predator aspects!
From my 37 pigeons left (didn't lose as many during the season as I thought) I'm able to get my top cock and top hen to breed together, hopefully they'll produce good ones to be considered a foundation pair.
How about you, what are your plans for your best performers?
P.S. I haven't let my top 2 birds out since last race, not taking chances with the hawks this time of year. A club member lost his top bird just recently.

I started trading 58 young birds the spring and end it with 24. Some of the losses were my fault but not too bad. Definitely will breed my top hen and cock like yourself. The smart thing to do is not fly them. But I still have their parents. The Hawks are ridiculous but Not sure if I will fly at all. Looking forward to breeding season 👍

What's the difference A race and B race?
Not much difference they just released 30 minutes apart and gives you two chances to win. Some people prefer to split up hens and cocks and this helps them race better that way.

Congratulations on your season. The new birds from Jack and Mark look great. I have a Ganus blue bar cock bird this year that I am on the look out for a Ganus hen to pair with him. It’s always exciting to get new birds.
We can probably do something with the birds getting them together. Let me know what you think.
