I got one of those for Christmas one year as a kid. Fun fact: if you hold a piece of tinsel at one end and touch the globe with the other end, the tinsel gets really hot really fast.
Sounds like there is an electrical current forming through the tinsel. The heat is actually caused by electrons in the tinsel rapidly moving in response to that electrical current, which generates friction and thus heat. Voltage would basically be the speed those electrons are moving. Amperage would be the amount of electrons moving per second. And the force within the tinsel that tries to prevent this is its resistance. Much simplified explanation, but lots of cool stuff to be learned with electricity. It can be fun to experiment, but always be safe.
I found out that if you put a penny on it, then a little piece of paper on the penny, you can use a nail to zap dots onto. Alternatively, you could put a penny on it and zap your finger!

What perfect timing. So basically my parents are watching a movie downstairs and when he turned of the lights with the 24V plug it started playing godly music from downstairs from my parents movie. It matched perfectly in that moment😂
If anyone does this at home, I do not recommend leaving it like this for a long time. The resistors and capacitors are likely not for 24V DC and could cause damage. Also, if you read the wall transformer, it says it's center pin positive. Remember to check that your power supply and device are both the same, so you do not reverse the polarity. Be careful of unmarked devices, wear safety glasses, and do not leave them on until you are sure it is safe.
@@SineEyed The "AC" could simply mean "AC adapter". Additionably, the first AC adapter he shows outputs 12V DC (the solid line over the dashed line is DC, as opposed to the wavy line above it for the 120V AC input). Finally, those barrel connectors almost always output DC.
When I was a kid, I had one of these and I'd always put a coin on the top and hold my finger slightly above the coin. The current actually burned my skin a little bit. Good times. 😂
Yes, but it is just going to rectify that AC into DC before boosting the voltage with an inverter. Many things which are made for AC can also work on DC, but you can't be sure unless you analyze the circuit. Also, the DC will need to be 1.4 times the AC rating because AC peaks are 1.4 times the RMS value. So 12VAC would need 17VDC.
@@Von_Hohenheim - ITs not even that... I love these!! You cause cut a AA battery in half with a paper clip if you set the battery on top of the dome. You can use your finger too but it burns haha
Cool thing, tape foil to the top, then a piece of paper over top. Using a screwdriver or some other metal thing that won’t come into contact with your hand, you can draw on the paper because the paper gets burned by the electricity arcing from the foil to the screwdriver
I used to do this with my friends, plug would say 12V and we would get out the much higher powered HP laptop charger. I remember my friends putting foil on it and absolutely cooking their finger tips.

"This is what I was expecting" sounded like muscle man😂😂😂
I wonder what happen if you put even higher voltage to it will it become a Tesla coil
no, it will burn out
the circuit is gonna go boom.
It might explode .
@@Mr.-Feel2024-substitute probably
@@Multiverse66BCE yeah probably
Tell me why i moved away from my phone but kept watching at the 24 volt plug in 😂
"The power of the sun in the palm of my hand."
More like lightning.
Bro sounded like muscle man for a moment after he turned the lights off 😂
24 volt looks cool as hell till the house burns down.😂😂😂
You were the coolest kid on the block if you had one back in the day!
Yea, I never had one, I always wanted one, they sold them at Spencer’s. I did have a black light with a poster under it though
we laughed at the same time 😂
Dude that is awesome and cool
I have that same plasma ball! Its actually really cool to play with
Bro Took, “ You Didn’t. Have To Cut Me Off” To A WHOLE NEW LEVEL
Cool, I have that exact plasma ball.
“oh buddy this is what i was expecting” gave off wayyyy too much muscle man vibes.
“Sound mode that I’ve never seen before” bro I had the exact same one back in the early 2000s 😂
"Oh buddy this is what i was expecting "
-said muscleman calmly
My grandpa had one of these but it was the size of a big gumball machine. It was stored in his closet and took up half of it. Funnily enough, he also had a gumball machine with his old teeth inside of it. He was cool, but he scared me. Rip grandpa. I hope you are playing fetch with baby in heaven
I love these!! You cause cut a AA battery in half with a paper clip if you set the battery on top of the dome. You can use your finger too but it burns haha
I had a plasma ball in the early 2000's that had a sound mode, but even better it had a car jack so I mounted it to my car's dash.
This ones big, its 8 inches...I remember playing with this when I was younger and it's still just as cool...
