    THANK YOU!!! Almost everybody else’s tutorials on RUclips on ‘HOW TOs’ with SVGs seem to want to win ‘confuse the viewer’ award.

    This was definitely the easiest, no fuss explanation on how to do this! I've spent countless hours trying to learn Inkscape so I could do this and everyone else made it so difficult and confusing and in the end, it didn't work! My image, however, was way too complex and I couldn't break away all the layers to make sense of the image in CDS but I was still able to use some of the image and then build my own in CDS. Thank you for the 'less is more' approach! Can't wait to convert a simple image! LOL!

    I had to watch your video again because I was exporting (only exports in png) it and didn't realize you save it as svg. So thank you again. Subscribed! Seriously I watched 3 other videos and no one would explain it. Instead I had to learn a bunch of other stuff. Thank you Sooo much again.

    OMG if you were here I'd hug you. I have a two color emblem I want to cut in the two colors and everything I've come across on RUclips was sooooo over my head, but you gave me what I wanted in a jiff. I am so excited. Thank you, thank you.

    I can not thank you enough!!! I struggled with trying to figure this out on my own! I was able to work along with your video and FINALLY get one done and am already looking for other files to do.Inkscape was so intimidating for me till I saw this!

    Hi. I found if you keep the black layer in Inkscape and remove the background, you can delete the others. Then use the paint bucket tool and fill the white spaces with any colour of your choice. When you upload the image to DS it will be divided in different sections/layers automatically. Using the paint bucket tool creates a separate section or piece so no need to slice anything. I know this is an old video. Hope this helps.

    This is exactly what I wanted to know!!! You're a life saver - I also learnt how valuable the attach tool was with one of your videos! You're now my design space mentor! Thank you!!

      You are so funny! I'm so glad it was helpful. Learning CDS can be overwhelming at first for sure!! We've all been there.

    Thank you for this tutorial, It has helped me a lot with my daughters cut designs, but is it normal for the the file to save as a Chrome HTML Document (.svg)? or should it just be a .svg file?

    • @LeapofFaithCrafting
      @LeapofFaithCrafting  6 лет назад

      MsMattimeo I usually save it as a plain svg, I'm not sure if it comes up as chrome since that is what browser I use.

    This was a great tutorial but I still can't get it work. :-( No matter how many scan I do I still only get a black and white image that still have to be contoured in Design Space. Any thoughts why? I'm following your tutorial. Thanks!

    How can I have the white inside as a layer but I don’t want the background. Ugh so confused

  • @Tyler918brown
    @Tyler918brown 5 лет назад

    You can do all that editing at the end on inkscape as well. It seems a little hard to use on here. Try to edit the whole thing on inkscape one time, I bet it would make your life a little easier when you learn where the tools are! Good vid though 🤙

    What version of inkscape are you using?

  • @toleworks2010
    @toleworks2010 6 лет назад +2

    This technique is ten times more difficult that it has to be. In Inkscape all you need is a bitmap to path, uncheck smooth and select remove background, scan 4 colors, delete everything except the black color book, save as a plain svg, done. In DS use contour to get your colored layers.

    When I try to upload the image in Design Space it doesn't give me the option to continue with the unsupported image. Is there away around it? thank you!

      Hmm, that's weird... I'm not sure. Are you getting any error messages or it just won't upload?

    • @amandaguhn2158

      I had the same problem and I went through the video and inkspace step by step and found that I had not created the layers with the "path" tab

    • @LeapofFaithCrafting

      Blurry in Inkscape or CDS? I'm wondering if it's the size of the image you are trying to use.
