The monster was supposed to be the castle guardian, but it's proven that if you trigger his emotions he gets mad and gets aggressive and Elsa had nothing to do with that because she wouldn't put her sister in danger on purpose. This would be a blame to her sister too for triggering Elsa's emotions and pressuring her.
