I bought this owl cam, and had problems right from the start. The people at owl were more then happy to help me get this fixed, but it would never stay on when I was parked it kept losing the signal. So I couldn’t watch it from my phone. And with all the problems I had I still believe this is the beat dash cam on the market, I just wish it would have worked for me. And they did return my money rather quickly.
Do you know any cams for the car to watch my mirrors in park mode?

What if you need something longer than a brief 'clip'? For example, someone jumps out of their car and is roadraging and the event lasts a few minutes. Are you able to record longer videos with that system?

I use the Thinkware F750 front and rear camera in my vehicles, they kill your car battery if you don't drive it or turn it on for a week even with the low voltage auto shut off feature enabled on the camera. This hook up on the diagnostics switch is different, I'll have to give it a try
What features do we lose out on if we don't renew the LTE? Will it still be able to record overnight? How do we download videos without LTE?
My main interest is the security footage of the inside - if someone gets in the car during the night - how does this react ? how does it fair in low light conditions ? does the recorded footage go straight to my phone ?

That mount is a deal breaker. They need to have a mount for the top of the windshield not something that creates a blind spot or a distraction directly in the middle of the windshield
You can always use an after market mount to mount it elsewhere. I see several systems that have a camera mounted in a similar place and it doesnt seem to be an issue or companies wouldn't have them available.

This is the ONLY good full review of this cam. I just bought it last night and am super stoked to get it. I drive Uber/Lyft part time but this will be a huge help in case of a wreck or if my passenger isn’t good. Thanks man

adriana leite I do like the camera. The one feature I dislike is how it turns off after 24 hours if you don’t start your car again. I get it’s to save your battery but other than that it’s great. Sometimes the app I’ll have to close and open to get it to work but overall I give it 4 3/4 stars out of 5
WARNING TO POTENTIAL BUYERS. This camera does not allow Android users to view your footage without paying per minute and using a slow cellular connection. iOS users can use Wi-Fi and get full advertised functionality. The Android app is in the Beta stage at best, unstable and lacking features. I'm writing this comment to let potential buyers know as OWL doesn't specify ANYWHERE that the Android app does not support all the advertised features.

Hello, I watched and liked many aspects of this OWL CAM. But, I have some concerns.
1) The bracket and camera are directly in front of a persons view, causes a blind area and for that reason is extremely dangerous in that it may actually lead to the cause of an accident.
2) I personally, would like to have seen more actual driving footage. I believe that it's fair to say that the front cam is doing an excellent job, but I am very interested to see the view that it see's from the rear cam.
3) In theory (what I would love to see), cam manufacturers such as OWL could make a slip in wedge style bracket that will fasten to the above roof trim just above the windshield. This would eliminate the issues I made in 1 above. It would also possibly allow for better rear of the car views and that is where my interest lays.
I really don't want a front and rear cam if I can avoid it!
In addition, the option to mount the cam in an inverted position so as to mount at the top of the windshield or on the roof trim I am sure would be appealing to many drivers.

In many states, it's actually against the law to have any visual distractions to the driver, not to mention the blind spots. If I can place the camera away from my view, I would definitely get this. Also, can you use your own server to upload your video via wifi?

How is the Owl when it comes to extreme heat ?
Was wondering this as well. The extreme heat kills most outdoor security cams rather quickly. Being in a hot vehicle is even worse.
Is there a camera that would send you a notification if there is motion or movement detected while parked? Simply starting recording is not helpful if the car is being stolen.

Does this cam have motion detection? If someone is hanging around your car or going by your car will it start recording? And on the live feed is there a button in the app that will allow you to start recording what you're seeing in the live feed?
What's to stop a thief from just covering the camera. How often are u notified when something occurs to your car? If your phone is locked what is the notification process?
Nothing. They can get in and grab the camera and toss it out the window, or run it over with the car, nothing is stopping them from doing that. But it doesn't matter anyway, that video is saved on to the cloud, you can get a snapshot of their face any time you want.

Correct, it would eventually deplete your battery, storage or even your sanity if it constantly told you every time someone walked by your car
So where's the FULL specification of Mr. OwlCam? Does it do IR, Sound, front and back (dual cams)? Owlcam don't want to tell us (couldn't find it on their website).

I was looking for this type of camera when my brand new parked got scratched two times by some jealous random person. I bought one blink wireless camerawith battery life of 24 months ($125) & got extra phone line on my family plan($5/month) with unlimited hotspot and left it in car with charging cable. Mounted my blink camera which detracts any motions in 270 degree and sends alerts to me on my phone or i can live view from app . Battery last around a year with normal use. Only thing that camera has one lens. If i need front & back view i need to have two of them.

Ezra yes and no. To do the lte features, yes. Just got mine and Haven’t hooked mine up yet. Sounds like you can still get video off it by pairing it to your phone over WiFi.

I'm turning my van into a camper and I'm using four back up cameras to view each direction around my van and the camera looking forward can also see my GPS so it can see how fast I'm traveling and then, I have a fifth back up camera to record myself. (I'm using back up cameras due to the cost. I'm wanting to have a way to record what the cameras see. Any ideas?

Wrong about California law and the steering wheel thing. I mount dash cam and gps in the center of the windshield or on the center of the dashboard. Absolutely OK to mount the Owl Car Cam in the center of the dash as shown.

you shloud have mentioned the cost to look at your videos and live feed, first year is free but ur limited to 60 minutes of viewing a month, it is free to view if you are direct connected thru wifi on the camera while in ur vehicle, after the first year it is 10$ per month or 99$ up front for the year, also 60 more minutes can be purchased for 4.99$ per month, so if you want to review videos or live feed away from your vehicle u can for an hour a month.... not sure if you mentioned that in the video.., I love mine..

what about for a tractor trailer, my fiancé wants one for when he is over the road and stupid drivers will back into him in parking lots and for when the idiots texting and driving or thinking that a tractor trailer can stop on a dime cut him off. Then he can have footage for the troopers. Will this work for him?

Just letting you know it takes two to three week to get this dashcam delivered to your house, even though they advertise 3-5 days ‘shipping’. Very disappointed in their communication.

My biggest problem with the system is it does not cover the rear of the vehicle! If my F3 50 gets rear-ended I don’t think you would even see the top of the car if a car hits it, basically zero video evidence of the rear of my vehicle. If they come up with a rear end add on version I will get one!

Camera should record great video when mounted from that angle but you're looking at a ticket for blocking the drivers view and it's an accident hazard. Thumbs up for the amount of detail in the video.
i was thinking of getting owl until i saw this video. that mounting stick is way too long, it mounts in the middle of the windshield, not sexy. i would like it better if you can mount it lower like near the dashboard.
