Cuz the UK version sucks and doesn't have broad appeal compared to other UK shows.
US version is a completely different series after the 1st or 2nd season. And its also a much better show. Better actors and cinematography
Uk version so funny and so true to life on a housing scheme! The us version (in my opinion) seems to turn into a drama, more so from 2nd season.
Got to say i do love steve more in UK version, but a lot of that is because how can you not love watching a younger James McAvoy shagging on the kitchen floor in the very first episode😊🎉❤😂
It doesn't necessarily have to be a competition we can just look at as double the amount of seasons to watch. Obviously life in UK council estate and life in us are both different so you will always relate to one more than the other depending on where you live and characters/actors that remind you more of everyday people depending on life experiences. This applies to all uk/aussie shows made into shows in the US and vice versa. Also the uk show came out in 2003/04 and us version was around 2010 I think(around these times anyway) so life and culture changes by the years too. Last season of uk version was 2013 and us version was still in its infancy. Different times, places so we should just enjoy them for what they are. The same goes for us shows remade in the UK. Everyone will always have a preference (usually whichever you watch first) and that's ok. I always appreciate if I like a show with an over the pond remake even if it's not exactly the same. Just try watching with fresh eyes and try not to compare when first watching, Then do the comparison after watched both or on 2nd viewing, like I say applies to all us to uk and uk to us. I enjoy shows much better since watching this way, in fact I'd love any recommendations of any remakes from uk or us originally. But at the end of the day what do I know it's just my 2 cents or 2 pennies, sorry this was so long! Happy viewing people and have a great day!

Sad they didn't have better actors in the uk version, would have loved to watch it, but the acting seems cringy to me.
When I like a show I usually try watching both original and remake.

@@olliewalker-grimley1943 The acting seems stiff at times and the emotions of scenes is lacking because of some of the acting.
Maybe it's more of the directing of the actors, not the actors themselves, I haven't seen them play other character in other show, so maybe it's just the directing of the actors, but I certainly disagree on the uk show being brilliant, it's hard to watch with the way that they act out scenes.

It's because British cinematography is more gritty and awkward, because that's how brits are .. its realistic to the way British people act. American shows are always over produced and too clean - the US version tried to hard

UK version is better than the US, I swear the US version try to cooler and harder. And try to force gay character together, when the UK version never push that idea.
The only new gay character they added was mickey and that only was to show off how creepy and kash was.........
