I first bought the Alpaca Mini Tech Bag - Did not find the "perfect" place to stand up my iPhone Pro upright & my iPad mini fit but way too snug I returned it after only a week & got the Tech Bag (mid size). I have been using it for 3 months while traveling extensively in my Van Conversion thru the Southwest. Now I have the "right" place for the most used stuff ( phone - wallet - keys - AirPods - lip balm). Every other EDC (and there is a sh*t ton that actually fits) They all found their place -- eventually (after some shuffling)! Having a pen in the loop impedes using the pockets below it - so I don't use it to hold my pen or anything for that matter. You get used to reaching for the side grab handle or at times just man handling it by the top. I exclusively carry it a sling bag (on hikes, shoping & bicycle rides) and have no interest in the accessory strap to stablize it. Since you access the bag as a sling while you are wearing it from the back a Pro Tip would be to always access the bag from the back - that way with muscle & brain memory it facilities locating what's in the bag - For me "often' without having to even look - For Real Son... The ability to stand it up is so nice as the mini did not stand up on its own & that was a PITA. So - daily use for 4 months I am very happy with the bag. The bigger one would only oblige me to add more stuff in it. - so I'll stick with this ohe. BTW fully loaded the bag weighs 5 lbs 9 oz & appears to manage it just fine!!!
i've been carrying a Bravo X V2 for the past year as my daily tech sling and my most coommonly used pocket is the phone/wallet pocket that lines the back. My note20 ultra really stretches it out because I like to put it in vertically so I can whip it out. My wallet occupies the same spot, separated by the vertical pocket in there, and that means I use the left side of that pocket aaallll day. Every day. Over a year of heavy, *heavy* duty use, that zipper on that pocket is still doing great and isn't showing any signs of giving up despite visible wear on the plastic. Those brandless alpaka zippers are some good stuff!
Thanks for the review! I'm glad to have backed it at the kickstarter pricing. I need to check if y'all have reviewed their elements backpack because that's another Alpaka product that I'm interested in. Primarily, the webbing on the inside that's meant to work with their HUB and MagLockz system.
A zipper garage for the front pocket would be nice. The pen slot is wrongly placed, not an ideal location. After a month of use, i can seen some stray thread. Mine is xpac version, Kickstarter backed
Been looking at alpaka so lots of adverts now appearing on social media! They don't seem to answer any questions people are posing. Looked at their website and they claim to be an Australian company, but products are 100% chinese made. So far the company doesn't impress me, I am possibly looking at the new utility pouch. It looks like the sort of sling I've been looking for.
Hey there, really enjoyed the video - odd Q - could the tech case be used as a toiletry bag? I'd like to get a pouch or case that has a bright interior and opens a decent amount and so far I haven't found one...except for the Alpaka tech case... Would love to hear you thoughts.
It could; the main worry would be spillage. Toiletry containers are usually made from waterproof or heavily water-resistant materials. If you don’t have many liquids, it’s a good look! -Eric
Aer has an xpac version on of their toiletries bag that has a bright orange interior. I just got one and I love it. I ended up ordering a second for my wife bc she liked it so much too
@@HLover03 Thanks for asking! I do, in fact, slightly prefer the smaller, lighter Alpaka case, and it’s therefore the one that I commute with daily nowadays.
@@DeeEllEff thanks, interesting as i need a daily pack for min stuff, nothing too bulky, everything i see a review i then read the comments and more options are thrown into the mix, at some point ive got to go this one. lol
Could you please compare the bellroy venture sling 9 L to the alpaca elements tech case Max? There are no stores nearby to me that stock both of these and I really want to compare sizes.
Pen slot is in a very inconvenient place. It gets in the way of the two slots underneath. Everything that you carry has to be flat. Loading it for everyday use gets super bulky. No attachment points on the outside for additional gear. Not happy with this purchase.
That’s a tie cable that came with the Anker Powerline III cable 😃 We also recommend using VELCRO Cable Ties: packhacker.com/travel-gear/velcro-brand/cable-ties/ -Eric

It's like if Peak Design and AER did a collab. I dig it.
I attached a strap to my Peak Design Tech Pouch, and it’s similar to this.

Hi Jen! We haven't reviewed the Elements backpack yet. Hopefully, we'll have some content coming out relatively soon. Thanks for the comment!

I’ve been using the Peak Design Tech Pouch since its own Early Bird Kickstarter shipment, so I’ll report back on which I prefer.
Please do!

Which one do you prefer now?

Can I ask what item is that in white used to tie up your black cable at 8:03 in the video?
