He and Kat both even revealed in one of the interviews that Bonkai was a possibility and would've been cool and he said quote, " I already knew how the season ended and in my mind I couldn't see how that could happen after knowing that my character has gone full bad now and it's my mistake for not thinking of that." watching this now with 20/20 hindsight vision,Chris did such a good job not letting the cat out of the bag. we know now that Kai was out of the prison world by Christmas, but he weaved his way out of that question so seamlessly. He's just so amazing, I really hope that he gets to ride out TVD till the end.
