I know you may not know the answer and simply enjoy the ability to do so one a video game for various reasons, but why exactly is this a thing? Can the pistol even propel the bullet that far? After all pistols do typically have shorter barrels, and are less powerful than rifles (with the exclusion of comparing 40.-50. handguns to AR/MA/M4 rifles). Just please, if the person I am replying to or anyone reading this comment knows the reason why you would place a rifle scope onto a 40.-50. handgun, inform me as of why this would be desired to be done.
Not sure if this going to be added, but the rocks would look MUCH better during rain if there was an effect on the sides of them instead of just on the top.

Weapon stoppages: If you go to town with a full auto weapon it should jam at one point, to unjam you click a button on the interaction menu in your inventory and continue firing. The more you strip down your weapon and clean it the less likely it is to jam. Anybody else like this idea? EDIT: Saw some comments about this idea being hardcore, after some thought I agree, it takes away some fun from the game and can get annoying so this can be an option to have when playing hardcore. Loved Cantri's comment on damaged weapons have more chance on jamming and a key being pressed instead of a button being clicked, and that the key has to be pressed multiple times if the gun is really bad, love it. I wouldn’t mind this being a thing on a server with the difficulty on hardcore but I’d rather not have overly realistic elements like that on a regular casual play of Unturned.

I miss the darker green colored grass and darker nights of unturned 2.0. Playing that felt more of a challenge, and going into cities was much more of a risk from what I remember. Now its really brightly colored in most of it’s textures, it feels more like I’m going to visit Micky Mouse’s clubhouse than a dangerous city, and I feel like it lost a ton of atmosphere.

i think the laser needs some reworking... i suggest that he could make it so you can see the beam of the laser only if you have NVGs just like in arma 3 and if not... then you only the dot on the target not the beam itself.This could make it so you need to take care of where you are pointing your gun and when.
that would be cool for campaign, but if you want pvp factions there are some good conquest servers out there focused on capping points and killing the enemy, a good one is illmatik gaming coquest.

Possible things in 4.0: Hazmat suits, a single helmet can't protect you from deadzones. They will require boots, helmet and gloves. Weather, temperature mechanics, freezing and sweating. If you sweat for too long, your body will overheat and you will die. (for desert/tropical areas) If you freeze as in Unturned 3 for too long, you will die. Shoes: boots, trainers, etc. Combat Boots Rarity: Epic can be found at military locations armor against being shot in the leg the best shoe to lessen the fall damage The best boot in the game for hiking up locations like mountains somewhat slow at making you sweat Jungle Boots (yes i ripped it off from dayz) Rarity: Rare can be found at military locations armor against being shot in the leg is a bit smaller than the armor in the combat boots, but doesn't sweat as much as combat boots. Lessens fall damage a bit worse than the combat boots. and hikes up locations a bit worse too. Trainers Rarity: Common Gives you a bit more speed while running, but doesn't give you armor. Hiking Boots Rarity: Uncommon can be found at civilian locations, armor is weak against being shot in the leg but its the middle ranked boot for hiking up locations like mountains middle ranked for lessening fall damage Work Boots Rarity: Uncommon can be found at construction locations the worst possible shoe to lessen fall damage doesn't provide any armour Dress Shoes Rarity: Common can be found in civilian locations doesn't do anything and is useless, just for the looks. Wellies (dayz again) Rarity: Rare can be found at civilian locations provides no armor but required by hazmat suits lessens a bit of fall damage the most sweaty shoe in the game Gloves: Rubber gloves Rarity: Common can be found at civilian locations no armor but required by hazmat suits sweaty glove Fingerless gloves Rarity: uncommon can be found at military locations provides a bit of armor and mostly is just for looks. the only glove that doesn't sweat in the game. military gloves rarity: rare can be found at military locations provides armor better than the fingerless gloves sweats quite a bit latex gloves rarity: common can be found in hospitals and Scorpion-7 and other scientific locations just for da looks boi! leather gloves rarity: common can be found in civilian locations protects you from freezing cold, as any other sweaty shoe will protect you from cold like in Yukon.
Two things I'd like to see. One, stock attachment points. Add a collapsible/folding stock or remove the stock completely for increased recoil, weapon speed (reload speed/switch speed increases, etc.), and to give some weapons the ability to be used as a secondary. OK, next thing. A barrel key, like a button you can press to swap the barrel, screw it on or off, etc. The first time I ever saw this was in Ghost Recon: Wildlands, and it really interested me. Shoot without a barrel to pierce walls when sniping from afar, then apply a suppressor for increased accuracy and sneakybeakyness to be able to fight up close without being noticed. Oh wait, something else! VR compatibility could work with Unturned. I own an HTC Vive and know that the controls in games like Pavlov could easily bend to fit Unturned. Manually reloading, swapping attachments, leaning, crouching, etc.
Thats not exactly true, yes its optimized 10x better. but it also matters on all the shadows, effects, misc stuff, and more. If 3.0 would be running on EU4 yes, it would run better, but its not the same as you can see with these devlogs.
A recommendation to Nelson Sexton from an Ex-Game Developer. I think Unturned needs some BIG changes. I don't know if you're going to read this, but I think it would be well worth it as I feel the game has massive potential. I have a lot of experience in game developement and I feel you would be greatly helped even by reading SOME of my points if this whole paragraph seems somewhat intimidating to digest. Issue 1: Stamina. The first issue I'd like to mention is not a major issue from a developers standpoint, but is massive in terms of how badly it hinders gameplay. The skills and stamina system. The fact is, what turns a lot of people away from joining new servers in unturned is the fact that they have to scavenge a huge map with about 10 seconds of sprint time before waiting 30 seconds for their stamina to replenish. This, and the fact that new players often die from using all their stamina to cross terrain meaning when they are engaged, they're left to die in the open. Here is my solution to both problems, have a walk speed, a jog speed and a run speed. In this theory, The walk and jog speed are infinite, but the run speed has a small limit, used for pushing between defferent obstacles and into cover when engaged meaning it's a lot easier to get to cover when scavenging. This would also make for interesting gameplay, as players in urban enviroments would have to try and predict whether or not their enemies can sprint to a cover point. Issue 2: Reward for work. Every game has sticks and carrots. Carrots being rewards(e.g. weapons and equipment), sticks being dangers(e.g. enemy players), and unturned suffers from one critical issue in this system. The carrot to stick ratio is no where near what is enjoyable. NOT due to an abundance of sticks, but a lack of carrots, or atleast a decent supply of them. The one reason I prefer rust to unturned, is because when I pickaxe that ore node, I KNOW what I'm getting. And although I understand this doesn't apply to all rescource gathering in rust, the key difference is that when I raid the dome crates, I KNOW there is atleast SOMETHING worth my time there, meanwhile when I raid summerside military base in PEI, I MIGHT get a maplestrike, and I MIGHT get an avenger. Most of the time, all I find is military clothing, and even if I do get a decent weapon, I now face another one of unturneds other issues. Progression, or a lack there of it. I will cover this issue in a later paragraph, but for now, here is my solution to the above issue. My solution would be to buff the living sweet jesus out of mele, meaning clever players who used intelligence could stab geared players, and also have an 'auto weapon equip' button that allows players to grab their enemies weapons, so they can frantically defend their new loot. This, aswell as making headshot multipliers larger for civilian pistols, perhaps much larger around the face area, so, once again, skilled players can win an uphill battle against foes. This aswell as a large amount of basic civilian weapons, and of course, CONSISTENT non luck based looting of locations. Issue 3: Progression. OK, so I've laboured on and on and on and now, finally, I've got a maplestrike and armour. Now what? The fact is, Unturned fails to keep many players in the game because of this. What's my solution? Simple! Although a bit silly. Allow players to use parts of other weapons to improve their own, adding another layer of progression to the game past looting. I would also very much so recommend the ability to develope upon makeshift vehicles. I think we should be allowed to design the chasis and Engines of our vehicles by using parts of other salvaged vehicles, once again, adding another level of progression to the game. I think this would also go great with the 'wear and tear' recycled technology artstyle of unturned. And I don't mean just makeshift chasis, I mean makeshift cannons, helicopter propellers and small mechanised armour suits that make little motorcycle engine noises when running, equipped with weapons, creating a unique blend of madmax and that cute low poly art style we know and love. Loose suggestions: Loose Suggestion 1: The Coalition. As I said, I have some experience in game developement, and I feel you could make some good assorted or miscelaneous additions to unturned 4.0. First of all, the coalition could function like Unturneds equivalent of boss NPC's. My concept is this. In your level editor, have it so one can pre design location fortifications that the coalition will occassionaly build on the map that players can attack and destroy. First of all, one designs their 'map', then, they seperately add the barricades they want the coalition to build occasionally. Then, the coalition attempt to colanise the area and make it their own, meaning players can sneak in pretending to be refugees or full on battle it out for their equipment. If the players don't manage to lift the coalition from the area, a zombie pandemic spreads amongst them, allowing the players to loot it anyway. I think it would be really cool to be driving around in unturned only to be stop checked at a coalition outpost, aswell as to see a bunch of NPC refugees living in the controlled area. I'd recommend building a node based vehicle AI aswell so coalition convoys can arrive to populate the scene. Loose Suggestion 2: Gunplay. I think what keeps me coming back to unturned has to be it's gunplay. I really like the fluidity of it and how it feels, but I think it can get slightly repetitive in urban areas. I think that urban map objects like tables, shelves and fridges shouls definitely be movable cover to add another layer of intelligent play to combat. For example, throwing a fridge on it's side in a doorway to create a temporary barricade. This aswell as such objects having destructability and players being able to gradually break down small doorway sized holes in walls. I think using the coalition concept above, perhaps once a location becomes extremely damaged from such combat, the coalition could colonise the area and refurbish it, leaving the players a fresh battleground to fight in. Suggestions too loose to be given their own paragraphs: 1. Put more cars in the map and let us scavenge broken cars to make modifications to working ones. 2. Make it so cars don't explode when shot but break down instead, meaning they can still be used as cover so we have a chance not to be raped and fight back when driving. 3. Make it so all skills are unlocked upon spawning, having to level up doesn't feel like making progress, but moreso feels like a chore. 4. Increase bullet speed but keep bullet drop. This is a bit more of a personal preference from me tbh. 5. Allow us to fire helicopter weapons from the drivers seat, and add both guns and missiles to heli's, however have it so these missiles fire debris, meaning they aren't very effective for base raids, but are great for PVP. 6. Allow us to carry more than two weapon slots, meaning we can take more loot from bodies without starving or dumping gear. 7. Allow us to connect LMG and sniper bipods to terrain of the map and make LMG's stronger, so as a tradeoff to their power a second is needed to ready them. 8. Make it so bandages take longer to apply but remove bleeding, meaning we have a longer time window to finish a well deserved kill but also make it so we don't die in open warfare to previous shots we can't prevent death from. 9. Automatically fill magazines and remove bullets taking up as much space. This is a bit hard to explain. Say for example I have 200 bullets in my inventory. I have an assault rifle with a 30 round mag. Whenever I reload the mag, it automatically takes the needed bullets from my inventory, puts it in the mag and loads it in. This aswell as being able to remove bullets from mags. 10. Allow us to grow and multiply berries, sell them to NPC's and make coalition soldiers kill you for possession of them.(just thought it would make being a drug dealer in the coalition civilisation area more interesting) 11.clean. 12.out. 13.the. 14.fridg. 15.e....... Eaglefire w/ laser sight, barrel, foregrip, 4x scope, chanted holo/red dot, maybe different stocks to adjust depending on range. I feel like that would be an amazing versatile mix of weapons for PvP
Im honestly so hyped i remember typing in OPERATIONMAPLESTRIKE in the console for 3.0 then two was a blast and 3 was amazing i hope this becomes just as good
Something I hope for is an option for when reloading to let the mag fall on the floor instead of grabbing it to make the reload a little faster (though some mags don't drop free from the gun so won't work for them) but you got to pick up mags later if you need them or let them rot if you already got too many of them.
Im so glad Nelson hasn't given up on this game, i feel like it could be one of the best games out there with the right amount of work, Which is what hes demonstrating. Doing all this without charging anything for the game, shows what kind of developer he is, someone who cares about the game and wants it to be great, without focusing on his income for it.
I'm kind of worried about the new high quality models, for those of us with crappy computers. I hope Nelson keeps in mind the audience without super gaming computers.

a suggestion, when a player or other thing is shot make them fall or stumble, it will look more realistic and it may help to make damage feel more real also if its made directional it could help to tell where the bullets are coming from when you are shot.
I guarantee that 4.0 will be better optimized now that Nelson actually knows what the fuck he's doing. Unless you have a truly garbage computer, you'll be fine.
no! Nelson is switching the game engine from Unity to Unreal engine 4 so performance might even be better unity is made for really small idie games, but since unturned got that big unity cant handle the game too good!
Hope nelson also makes it so the amount of snow that drops is varied. Like you can have 1-3 inches at one point and 8 inches to one foot the next. Thatd be awesome
These are some of my ideas: -No canted sights on snipers, they would be too op. - maybe with heavy guns or snipers, the longer you aim the more your view shakes, or the gun decrases because you can't hold it longer and shot accurately. That would add more realism. - it would connect to 2nd idea, if you have a bipod, you can unfold it and put on anything like crate, ground etc. (Like in arma) so you prevent exhausting, and losing accuracy.

Idk how good it would be optimized for controllers/Consoles, there are quite a lot of buttons, and the problem is that the focus on pvp on stuff like arena/conquest server will give pc players an unfair advantage on many parts.
Nelson should add a feature where when you eat or drink something, it leaves you with the trash, so you can reuse the empty bottles as canteens, and then just get rid of the trash. He should also add that you don't eat it all in one bite, so you don't waste food.

It's possible but if he where to port it to console it would take a hell load of nelsons time and will put PC updates on hold for a while which is something I believe he's not going to want to do.

3.0 Was made on a poorly optimised base 4.0 is made using the unreal engine and now that Nelson has a better understanding on his general direction and coding the game "should" be better optimised Granted you shouldn't expect the game to run on a potato Also try verifying game files through steam or do a fresh install including workshop content that may fix your game

Two things I'd like to see. One, stock attachment points. Add a collapsible/folding stock or remove the stock completely for increased recoil, weapon speed (reload speed/switch speed increases, etc.), and to give some weapons the ability to be used as a secondary.
OK, next thing. A barrel key, like a button you can press to swap the barrel, screw it on or off, etc. The first time I ever saw this was in Ghost Recon: Wildlands, and it really interested me. Shoot without a barrel to pierce walls when sniping from afar, then apply a suppressor for increased accuracy and sneakybeakyness to be able to fight up close without being noticed.
Oh wait, something else! VR compatibility could work with Unturned. I own an HTC Vive and know that the controls in games like Pavlov could easily bend to fit Unturned. Manually reloading, swapping attachments, leaning, crouching, etc.

A recommendation to Nelson Sexton from an Ex-Game Developer.
I think Unturned needs some BIG changes. I don't know if you're going to read this, but I think it would be well worth it as I feel the game has massive potential. I have a lot of experience in game developement and I feel you would be greatly helped even by reading SOME of my points if this whole paragraph seems somewhat intimidating to digest.
Issue 1:
Stamina.
The first issue I'd like to mention is not a major issue from a developers standpoint, but is massive in terms of how badly it hinders gameplay. The skills and stamina system. The fact is, what turns a lot of people away from joining new servers in unturned is the fact that they have to scavenge a huge map with about 10 seconds of sprint time before waiting 30 seconds for their stamina to replenish. This, and the fact that new players often die from using all their stamina to cross terrain meaning when they are engaged, they're left to die in the open. Here is my solution to both problems, have a walk speed, a jog speed and a run speed. In this theory, The walk and jog speed are infinite, but the run speed has a small limit, used for pushing between defferent obstacles and into cover when engaged meaning it's a lot easier to get to cover when scavenging. This would also make for interesting gameplay, as players in urban enviroments would have to try and predict whether or not their enemies can sprint to a cover point.
Issue 2:
Reward for work.
Every game has sticks and carrots. Carrots being rewards(e.g. weapons and equipment), sticks being dangers(e.g. enemy players), and unturned suffers from one critical issue in this system. The carrot to stick ratio is no where near what is enjoyable. NOT due to an abundance of sticks, but a lack of carrots, or atleast a decent supply of them. The one reason I prefer rust to unturned, is because when I pickaxe that ore node, I KNOW what I'm getting. And although I understand this doesn't apply to all rescource gathering in rust, the key difference is that when I raid the dome crates, I KNOW there is atleast SOMETHING worth my time there, meanwhile when I raid summerside military base in PEI, I MIGHT get a maplestrike, and I MIGHT get an avenger. Most of the time, all I find is military clothing, and even if I do get a decent weapon, I now face another one of unturneds other issues. Progression, or a lack there of it. I will cover this issue in a later paragraph, but for now, here is my solution to the above issue. My solution would be to buff the living sweet jesus out of mele, meaning clever players who used intelligence could stab geared players, and also have an 'auto weapon equip' button that allows players to grab their enemies weapons, so they can frantically defend their new loot. This, aswell as making headshot multipliers larger for civilian pistols, perhaps much larger around the face area, so, once again, skilled players can win an uphill battle against foes. This aswell as a large amount of basic civilian weapons, and of course, CONSISTENT non luck based looting of locations.
Issue 3:
Progression.
OK, so I've laboured on and on and on and now, finally, I've got a maplestrike and armour. Now what? The fact is, Unturned fails to keep many players in the game because of this. What's my solution? Simple! Although a bit silly. Allow players to use parts of other weapons to improve their own, adding another layer of progression to the game past looting. I would also very much so recommend the ability to develope upon makeshift vehicles. I think we should be allowed to design the chasis and Engines of our vehicles by using parts of other salvaged vehicles, once again, adding another level of progression to the game. I think this would also go great with the 'wear and tear' recycled technology artstyle of unturned. And I don't mean just makeshift chasis, I mean makeshift cannons, helicopter propellers and small mechanised armour suits that make little motorcycle engine noises when running, equipped with weapons, creating a unique blend of madmax and that cute low poly art style we know and love.

Loose Suggestion 1:
The Coalition.
As I said, I have some experience in game developement, and I feel you could make some good assorted or miscelaneous additions to unturned 4.0. First of all, the coalition could function like Unturneds equivalent of boss NPC's. My concept is this. In your level editor, have it so one can pre design location fortifications that the coalition will occassionaly build on the map that players can attack and destroy. First of all, one designs their 'map', then, they seperately add the barricades they want the coalition to build occasionally. Then, the coalition attempt to colanise the area and make it their own, meaning players can sneak in pretending to be refugees or full on battle it out for their equipment. If the players don't manage to lift the coalition from the area, a zombie pandemic spreads amongst them, allowing the players to loot it anyway. I think it would be really cool to be driving around in unturned only to be stop checked at a coalition outpost, aswell as to see a bunch of NPC refugees living in the controlled area. I'd recommend building a node based vehicle AI aswell so coalition convoys can arrive to populate the scene.
Loose Suggestion 2:
Gunplay.
I think what keeps me coming back to unturned has to be it's gunplay. I really like the fluidity of it and how it feels, but I think it can get slightly repetitive in urban areas. I think that urban map objects like tables, shelves and fridges shouls definitely be movable cover to add another layer of intelligent play to combat. For example, throwing a fridge on it's side in a doorway to create a temporary barricade. This aswell as such objects having destructability and players being able to gradually break down small doorway sized holes in walls. I think using the coalition concept above, perhaps once a location becomes extremely damaged from such combat, the coalition could colonise the area and refurbish it, leaving the players a fresh battleground to fight in.
Suggestions too loose to be given their own paragraphs:
1. Put more cars in the map and let us scavenge broken cars to make modifications to working ones.
2. Make it so cars don't explode when shot but break down instead, meaning they can still be used as cover so we have a chance not to be raped and fight back when driving.
3. Make it so all skills are unlocked upon spawning, having to level up doesn't feel like making progress, but moreso feels like a chore.
4. Increase bullet speed but keep bullet drop. This is a bit more of a personal preference from me tbh.
5. Allow us to fire helicopter weapons from the drivers seat, and add both guns and missiles to heli's, however have it so these missiles fire debris, meaning they aren't very effective for base raids, but are great for PVP.
6. Allow us to carry more than two weapon slots, meaning we can take more loot from bodies without starving or dumping gear.
7. Allow us to connect LMG and sniper bipods to terrain of the map and make LMG's stronger, so as a tradeoff to their power a second is needed to ready them.
8. Make it so bandages take longer to apply but remove bleeding, meaning we have a longer time window to finish a well deserved kill but also make it so we don't die in open warfare to previous shots we can't prevent death from.
9. Automatically fill magazines and remove bullets taking up as much space. This is a bit hard to explain. Say for example I have 200 bullets in my inventory. I have an assault rifle with a 30 round mag. Whenever I reload the mag, it automatically takes the needed bullets from my inventory, puts it in the mag and loads it in. This aswell as being able to remove bullets from mags.
10. Allow us to grow and multiply berries, sell them to NPC's and make coalition soldiers kill you for possession of them.(just thought it would make being a drug dealer in the coalition civilisation area more interesting)

Something I hope for is an option for when reloading to let the mag fall on the floor instead of grabbing it to make the reload a little faster (though some mags don't drop free from the gun so won't work for them) but you got to pick up mags later if you need them or let them rot if you already got too many of them.

a suggestion, when a player or other thing is shot make them fall or stumble, it will look more realistic and it may help to make damage feel more real also if its made directional it could help to tell where the bullets are coming from when you are shot.

These are some of my ideas:
-No canted sights on snipers, they would be too op.
- maybe with heavy guns or snipers, the longer you aim the more your view shakes, or the gun decrases because you can't hold it longer and shot accurately. That would add more realism.
- it would connect to 2nd idea, if you have a bipod, you can unfold it and put on anything like crate, ground etc. (Like in arma) so you prevent exhausting, and losing accuracy.

Idk how good it would be optimized for controllers/Consoles, there are quite a lot of buttons, and the problem is that the focus on pvp on stuff like arena/conquest server will give pc players an unfair advantage on many parts.

Nelson should add a feature where when you eat or drink something, it leaves you with the trash, so you can reuse the empty bottles as canteens, and then just get rid of the trash. He should also add that you don't eat it all in one bite, so you don't waste food.
