Yeah it's weird, I hated that we lost that 18 Grand Final, but I have a grudging respect for the Eagles after that outstanding Grand Final. There were a few Eagles games I tuned into and hoped that they won namely Saints, Dogs, Freo (2nd game) and Norf. You got 2 of those, so fair play.

I’m a lions fan, magpies missed some shots, we made the most of ours. We didnt make the most of murphy being out, both teams got contentious goals. Berry conceding that 50 almost killed us off, what a dumb thing to do.
Our spark players disappeared in the second half unfortunately.
In regards to that Neale moment, all it did was rob us of an opportunity to win it. It didn’t rob us of a win or anything.
Props to collingwood though. Played amazing all year and were more dominant for most of the game.

That's a fair assessment. I thought that there were a few players that could have won the Norm Smith from either side, regardless of result. It was just one of those Grand Finals.

That was such a great Grand Final and fantastic result for us Pies fans, commiserations to the Lions fans and club. So happy, we got a Premiership again. We got some revenge for 02 and 03 :D

I'm a happy Collingwood fan, with a soft spot for The Lion's, what a great game, all players should be proud of play in a great final. For the best part of the day i thought the umpires had a consistent day, a few mistakes, but didn't favour either side. Both teams had their opportunities, A great display of Australian rules footy.😊

I’m a pie’s supporter, born and lived in WA whole life at 38. Kalangadoo Maggies has a win too!!!!!!! Legging was a free kick though. It was 100% a free.
afl needs to give senior players medals no matter what. johnny noble, mcstay and adams being so crucial to the pies success this year, only to not make it in the end and medals end up around players like frampton and ginni (yes ginni has played but the other 3 deserved the medal way more this year)
I don't think they'll do that because of the culture of footy and it not feeling the same if you don't play on the day, so I'd assume they don't want a medal reminding them of what they missed out on. I think the club's internally get around them and acknowledge them.

Enjoy the game? Not overly. Looking back, it was brilliant, and you could tell even watching it that it was going to become a classic, but enjoyment isn’t the right word. Still the best day of my life, the siren has never sounded so good, but the game itself was more nervous than enjoyable.

Mate I was nervous af, both teams didn't have big leads so as a Collingwood supporter I wasn't comfortable tbh, when the final siren went I celebrated but I was more in shock I just couldn't say anything, felt numb. Makes up a little bit for 2018 #flagpies
Better than the last 4 Grand Finals combined, 2020-21 were than Pandemic GFs so there was no winning with those ones either way.
To me the last good ones were in 2017(when Richmond ended a 37 year drought in GFs) and 2018 when West Coast won their 4th GF against Collingwood. Collingwood vs Carlton in a GF is the longest drought in GFs in that it has been 42 years since it last happened on the big stage.

02, 11 and 18.......could have won any of those. Yes even 2011, it was close at 3 quarter time, Geelong ran away with it.

I think the only thing holding the game back from being the absolute best GF was the last couple minutes. The 50 for Sidebottom’s goal was there, but was a bit soft and was an underwhelming way to kick what was the sealer. Also that absurd advantage call just like an umpire howler and killed the Lions’ last chances. Apart from that, the standard (particularly in the first half) was ridiculously high
As a neutral best team won on the day but Brisbane at least deserved the chance to steal it at the death. Shocker of an advantage call and then Bailey taken high in the very same play. Hopefully Collingwood fans will calm down and celebrate it without just getting back at everyone. Celebrate it and enjoy it don't be sore winners lads.
AFL got what they wanted
I’m a neutral supporter and I hate more than anything directing comments to the umpires but…..there were maybe 4 calls within the first 15 minutes, I think 3/1 Lions, of players ducking into the tackle and I thought great, the umpires have set their benchmark, but the first goal of the game is give via free kick well below the perceived, previously set benchmark.
Though the Lions did miss many a opportunity, it doesn’t sit well with me, as a neutral supporter of the game.

However if I was Scott Pendlebury… I would have pulled the pin and called the career after yesterdays win on a massive high 😂. I give massive credit that he is chasing the magical 400… but dude, I reckon he should have “done a Joel Selwood” lol. Next year could be a heartbreaking final loss and ending the career with a loss (cause Flags are bloody hard to win)… so call me crazy but I am shocked he didn’t call it. I am saying this respectfully (not as a put down).

The calls not made are ALWAYS bigger than those that were made.

Cracker of a game. Not sure anyone knew Bobby Hill had that in him. He kept Collingwood in it when nobody else could kick straight, then the tackle on Starcevich sealed the Norm Smith even had the result gone the other way, even had time to hand one off to Pendlebury. It would be a btch to lose a GF by such a small margin. Every Brisbane player probably has a "what if" moment they would love to have back.
Even Kiss were good, can't say much for the rest of the entertainment (I use the term loosely) Mike Brady looked and sounded old and tired, Hunters and collectors sounded like a bad folk band. It wasn't quite Angry Anderson level cringe but lets not go there again next year to try to take the title from Meatloaf.

Yeah sure the advantage call was poor, but Lions got a couple of goals from contentious calls and were lucky to be in it, due to the Pies missed chances but equally due to their unusual efficiency. That Markov 50 that gifted Lions a goal was rough to me, the ump said he told Markov to "stand" while 70k fans were in the middle of chanting "Collingwood". Umps need more awareness that players can't hear sometimes. Then Hipwood wasted a gift in the pocket when it was clearly a wrong high tackle call on Moore. So sure, ppl can whinge about the advantage call, but don't have a short memory. As a neutral fan, it was a great game.
Yeah and Lion fans/Collingwood hating neutrals were complaining about the advantage late in the 4th costing Brisbane the game,because players couldn’t hear the free kick being paid to them lol

The "win" will forever be tainted in my book due to such a horrid call at a crucial stage of the game regardless of what or didn't happen earlier in the game
It was a great game but it finished on a really really sour note and that's the way history will have it remembered whether people like it or not or want to make excuses and justify it all they want it doesn't change the fact of the matter that a majority of people felt it ended with an astrix
