Dramatic writing for both the pianos and the orchestra with contrasting mood swings. There are brooding, sometimes macabre and nightmarish moments as well as high-spirited, almost frenetic, dance and march-like melodies. The theme, 5:08-7:32, is beautiful in an eerie way with ghostly high strings. Great stuff but not for the faint-hearted!!
