Adoro esse instrumento ainda vou aprender a tocar
I wish I could be that clumsy on my violin! I really think that the 5-string violin would have been, in the Hands of Steph, something equivalent to what the Castrato were to Opera. Mind Blowing!
The viola does have better richness of sound but this piece was meant more for a violin I should think.
I agree, look for Tcha Limberger (and his partners) playing viola, he knows how to explore this jazzy sounds in viola
Simply marvellous!
This is the best Grapelli has ever sounded. Got that stank
I saw Stefan Grappelli in 1980, with my parents and a friend, saw him at The Red Creek in Henrietta ( Rochester) ,NY he opened with Takin a chance on Love, but at the set end he played a black painted Viola ,and it sounded like J.M
Hendrix himself, with elements heard in fine blues 78 recordings of Thibaud ' T- Bone'Walker and jazz guitarist Charles Christian.Old Chris, a retired fiddler of Albuquerque NM Tune usually in D ,,D A E B.
Um prazer ouví-lo !!
Contagia pelo prazer de sentir a coração pulsando a cada nota. Gratidão.
😊
Amazing !!!
Amazing... Didn't know it.... Great!!!!!!
His eye-roll expression @ :17 when he seems surprised just how extra large a viola is compared to a violin 😄
🤯🤯🤯
Precise!
I keep coming back to this clip. I love it as much as your recommended video of Tcha Limberger. Do you know any other great viola musicians?
in this jazzy viola vibe i like a video called: Goodbye Pork Pie Hat - Reharm (Piano / Viola)
It's nice. He's brilliant when he's playing the viola. But I also hear something like: "Ah, quite interesting! But I prefer playing the fiddle." At least, Grapelli makes the viola sound quite like a viola. Chapeau! But this is a Fiddle- Piece. The viola needs something like a Gosple, I think.
what is gosple? (google translate dont know)
@@figura2000 Sorry!!! I meant "GOSPEL"!
I just wrote it wrong. Maybe I should have said "Spiritual", which I think is not quite the same.

documentario francês 'viola', tem completo aqui no meu canal
The viola (my instrument, mind you) is definitely clumsier for jazz than the violin. Stephane could wail like crazy on a violin, but the viola puts limits on even him. You can hear in this clip why the viola has been called "nasal"; It sounds like it has a cold.
in this specific music i agree, but in others i think viola can do well, that smooth sound that clarinets or saxophones do in jazz , look Tcha Limberger - Gypsy Jazz Viola ruclips.net/video/rRa2E3W6BUE/видео.html
did he just take Yuri Bashmet's viola?
