Hi Freddie. I would not recommend but if nothing else available you can use it but you have regrease the washers very often like every two or three trips. Drag grease was made to withstand high temperature and high abrasion. If other grease is used, it will dry out very fast or burned very fast.
@Solunar Angling Confidante yea thats what suppliers told me as well. Drag knob gets sold as a unit. That specific nut always strips and seems to be a common problem on BG range i was told. Anyhow, thanks for the response.

Hi, love your work. What is the first part being placed in the drag knob called.
To tell you the truth, I have no idea what its called😂. It is some type of nut. Unfortunately it is not available as a separate drag knob part.

Hi Sam. Its cals drag grease. If its not available locally then mercury/quicksilver 24c grease will do the job well enough.
