I watched a video about the pilots who flew this missions. No regard of their own life at all, so brave and fearless.
Not fearless, because without fear there is no bravery, only recklessness, and the Ukrainians are nothing if not brave.

Think of three generations from now who will be troubled by this war. At the end, their is a wife,son, mother, friend crying each day for their loved ones. the corporations win. Ukraine will owe the US billions of dollars and US corporations will run the businesses in Ukraine. @United24 • Thank you for this report. I remember hearing mixed reports of whether Azovstal had been resupplied. I never knew there were 7 flights.
These reports are important not just for the historical record, but to remind other Ukrainian troops today that they will not be abandoned. It takes courage to survive an encirclement, but it also takes courage to go on a suicide mission.

The bang per buck is huge, with the limited resources we get, a huge amount of Russian resources is destroyed. Those resources cannot be replenished easily. You could say we're doing America a favor. these 2 helicopters were shot down by Russians, that's what "lost" means. . I remember the footage they touted about a wreckage of a Mi-8 on a return flight (from Mariupol back to Ukraine-conrolled territories). The Russan propagandists claimed that the helicopter was used to evacuate the leaders of the Azov battalion. This was as close to the truth as their earlier claim about Zelenskyy escaping from Kyiv... This was a very dangerous mission even for more modern transport helicopters. The only way to prevent this from happening, would have been the sanctioning and isolation of Russia in 2014. But the world failed to understand the danger, hoped for the best and now experiences the worst....
Yes, Ukraine should have best equipment and amo ... they should have got it all sooner. We have not seen such evil at work since the Gestapo ... Brave Zelinski and his people, armed forces especially.. but all of thi really... when it was happening I kept thinking what about all the stuff we've got... I had many Ukrainian pilots fly for my operations in Afghanistan 10 years ago. Ironically it turns out, many of them were flying OpFor for the soviets when I was in USAER in the 70s!
They were skilled and determined guys and I loved flying with them. There were several named Olaxander flying MI-8s for me. I know it's doubtful, but I like to think at least one or two of them has survived and is still flying. For all the Flight and ground crews I worked with, I salute you and Glory to Ukraine!

Only the best aircrews were chosen. Even then, the missions were entirely voluntary. Each crew could only fly once. It was so dangerous, they weren't willing to risk a crew more than once.
Yet they are willing to send 15/16 year olds and the disabled and old men to the front, where life expectancy is just four hours.
Ukrainians proved they are brave. Military as well as civilians. As a soldier I have the biggest respect to Ukrainian soldiers. Ukrainians deserves to be free and independent nation by their bravery and blood. And we are must help them.

Personally I think western. Always have done. Preserving forces should be at the heart of everything. If a tank or heli or plane or boat is destroyed, as long as the crew get out, which they most likely will in our gear, then the equipment did its job.

Mi-24 and Mi-8 have stood the test of time and still are some of the greatest helicopters of all time. I would much rather fly an Mi-24 than a KA-50 or 52.

Really Heroes! It was unbelievable task! They say that somebody but a photo or a video from one of this missions in social media that's why Russians found out and they eliminate some helicopters and they had to stop missions also some rumors said that some high ranking army officers from the west tried to be evaluated but they failed ! Do you have an answer on that, just for the history? In every war heroic missions happen i believe this was one of the highest !
