    I was in tears as the last 40m played out as I watched it on IMAX today. Knowing what happens was definitely in my mind compared to when I watched it as a teenager 30 years ago. I felt so bad for Mills. I can see how this movie impacted so many other movies and especially television shows. Stabler seems very much in the mold of Mills for example on L&O: SVU.

    There really should be an ongoing series wherein directors debunk silly fan theories about their films. They say the same thing about the chestburster scene in Alien, and it's just as ridiculous for pretty much the same reason. The actors were surprised at the sheer amount of blood and guts that blew out, but they all knew what was going to happen in the scene.

    I got the sense when he talked about Mindhunter that the process had become a real drag. Interference from Netflix maybe? I dunno. I think if he does pick it back up again it'll have to go to Apple or Hulu or some other major streamer and that he'll have to have an Orson Welles-esque total creative control contract.

If they were indeed filled with Doe's writings, then why were they not sold as collector's items? Why were they not published in some other form...? Over the top is right.

      Ifs funny how well his movies are that there are different opinions. I say Gone Girl and Social Network are two of his best works. But I did see Seven in the theatre in 95 and this blew me away. Never saw the ending coming. That’s what makes going to the movies fun. With that I would disagree that Seven is overrated.

    • @Echo__plex
      @Echo__plex 3 дня назад +1

      Seven is amazing. Fincher's entire body of work is fantastic. A few minor let downs, but he's one of the best in the biz.

    • @richieclean
      @richieclean 2 дня назад +1

      The Game is better than it has any right to be purely because Fincher directed it, but let's not kid ourselves, as a high concept thriller it's utterly preposterous.
      To even pretend that it is better than Seven in order to try and be the "cool contrarian" in a YT comment section is douchebaggery of the highest order.
