This song has to be in my top ten all time favorites. Great band, such emotion and atmosphere in the song itself. I love their entire collection, but this one, this one is just amazing.
The raw emotion in everything Isaac does is just astonishing to me. Between his playing, songwriting, singing, and on stage actions you can just tell he pours his entire being into his music.
this song is unreal. the drums rare ridiculous. I've never seen it live till now definitely one of my favorite songs. Issacc Brock top 50 guitarist of all time after this regardless of what rolling stone says
I love MM, they're my favorite angry time band. I listen to them at the end of a hard day while headbanging and pretending to punch walls; it is a harsh contrast to the sweet side most people see of me all day. Cowboy Dan and Doin' the Cockroach are among the best I've found to do this to xD
@hbwcrackwhore So nice to hear, the first song i heard from Modest Mouse was Float On since it was a radio hit. But years later I bought Long Drive and loved it then I bought all their CD's alternating from old to new each time so i listened to old and new in a row and it is all just simply wonderful Modest Mouse music. They can do no wrong
FInally, a decent live Modest Mouse video. Thank you to whoever posted this. I love this song (probably my 2nd favorite behind Spitting Venom) and the new album. I can't believe anyone can not like their new album (this song, Satellite Skin, and King Rat).
oh man i saw them play this song in salt lake in september... it was amazing! the way they did it was 12 times more amazing then the album version. i always think about it...
What we have here is possibly one of the best ways to convey imagery in music with very few words and mind-blowingly atmospheric sound I'm seeing them in a few weeks - July 23, Brooklyn. I want to hear this song live again.
Hearing this reminds me of watching them play Tundra/Desert live in one of their 90's videos. Isaac put an asston of energy into this, it's insane. Who ever says Isaac lost his touch over the years and that Modest Mouse isn't as great as it used to be is very, very mistaken.
thom yorke does. MM and Radiohead are my favorite bands. This is my favorite Mouse song in a long time by the way. Possibly back before The Moon & Antarctica. Possibly my favorite ever. It's amazing how he can turn a few notes into something like this. For me the tone of this song is like anxiety and desperation all in one. I feel like I've had this song in my head for my whole life and now I can finally listen to it. Not to be overly dramatic or anything.
Well, I do prefer the older Modest Mouse stuff to the newer stuff. Albums like Building Nothing out of Something (which is a rarities album nonethless), Interstate 8 and The Lonesome Crowded West absolutely blow me away. There is definitely a difference in their newer sound from their older sound. I just think it was them evolving, though. I don't hate their newer stuff, I listen to it still, and I don't complain. I just, overall, prefer many of their older albums. It doesn't make me arrogant.
@TheSpoonRooster Is it bad that I kinda like the bad quality sounding ones that were never released, like Nothing New...? 'Cuz that kinda pulls me in..
the. sheer. energy. a darn shame they hardly ever tour Europe, southern Europe least of all. i'd have given anything to have seen this played as that wonderful EP was out.
@TrajektorieLogik Eh, I always considered M&A to be part of the old Modest Mouse. I guess it depends on whether you think of new as major label or as indie pop. I see it as the latter. M&A is awesome though
@NeptuneMS385 actually i prefer the newer stuff. could be the quality of the old records being a bit of a turnoff, but good news and we were dead were both phenomenal albums all around. i didnt think as albums, the older shit was as good. see? now you've found someone :)
i'm not sure but i guess he does a lot of bending and he uses the whammy pedal..look at him at 4.18. before that moment he's moving around doing bending but after that he gets his foot on his pedalboard and that's when you can hear something very similar to the whammy pedal
@hbwcrackwhore meh, it's good when they express their opinions in a way that doesn't claim a part of them yo be gay beyond their own personal opinion. I personally do think old modest mouse is much better, but i'm not going to dislike their newer stuff because it's new, because alot of it is actually still really good. Ocean breathes salty, for example, is an awesome song.
@Synd465 Yeah a lot of people say Radiohead is like a bummer. I happen to like that type of music but it's understandable that other people don't. If I'm hanging out with people Mouse is my number one choice for music. Radiohead isn't fun to listen to with people. Like at all haha
@hbwcrackwhore Y'know what's funny about that? There's two types of Modest Mouse fans; Us types who think everything Modest Mouse makes is godly, and there's those that only like the older stuff. I have yet to find one Modest Mouse fan who only likes the new stuff and bashes on the old stuff.
isaac plays his crazy guitar in his own catergory. ive never heard anyone do it like he does. look what shredding did to the awful music of the eighties. its not about chops. its his wonderful style and songwriting that are what need to be discussed. not what yngvie tunes he cant play. come on now

You can tell this is Isaac and Erics jam!
KB and for good reason, this makes it into my top five of their music!
First truly fun song I learned to play on bass. I still play it to this day.
one of the best guitar solos of all time in my opinion, so much emotion
Thank you.
Dat drum and bass intro makes me eargasm everytime
the fps is too low to capture Isaac's hands on th guitar
this isn't even fair how good this is. save some talent for the rest of the world modest mouse
I love the drumming on this!
2 drummers is awesome
this song is unreal. the drums rare ridiculous. I've never seen it live till now definitely one of my favorite songs. Issacc Brock top 50 guitarist of all time after this regardless of what rolling stone says

Definitely one of those shows where you're incapable of doing anything other than stand there in amazement and complete appreciation!
Issac has never screwed an instrument as well as he has here. Ever.
I was at this show live. Modest Mouse is the best band of all time.
Dang I love Modest Mouse! ALmost every song they've ever put out is amazing!
@hbwcrackwhore So nice to hear, the first song i heard from Modest Mouse was Float On since it was a radio hit. wow, loved this one a lot, harkens back the Night on the Sun a bit for me, which is still one of my all time favorites.
My favorite kind of music, is the kind you can fuck up while you're playing it and it makes it better.
What a GREAT CLEAR video, This song just kicks so much ass, thanks
i litarally contributed to about 5% of these views
i agree to dramamine being the best, live version being even better
Hearing this reminds me of watching them play Tundra/Desert live in one of their 90's videos. Isaac put an asston of energy into this, it's insane.

Love the passion and the fact Brock never seems to do half-assed performances like plenty of the diva's do these days.
@OvertheHills821 Forgettting big part. Is eric Judy, bass is awsome especially in this song.
@shizzzbiscuit I was referring to contemporary shows too, not the period when they were too ****** on drugs to care.
WOW. ive honestly never seen anybody rock the guitar as godd as isaac in that particular song
@beaverbrookroad Eric is wearing a Stormy Kromer. Isaac is the one that usually wears the Filson wildfowl.
He hasn't quit, he's just touring with the Cribs. Then Back with Modest Mouse after :)
I swear one day i gonna see them play live
yeeh buddy I wish the same. But they never come to Europe...
Well, I do prefer the older Modest Mouse stuff to the newer stuff. I just shat myself listening to this. Freaking Brilliant song.
this is absolutely great! i wanna see them live!
@TheSpoonRooster Is it bad that I kinda like the bad quality sounding ones that were never released, like Nothing New...? 'Cuz that kinda pulls me in..
They saved the best song for last (excluding the encore) last night. This song is incredible live
This goes beyond words
Lol, well the studio one has like 11 isaccs singing. He deos so many back up vocals of his own voice in studio, thats what makes it awsome.
Holy shit, it's so badass when Isaac starts playing his.
the. sheer. energy. a darn shame they hardly ever tour Europe, southern Europe least of all. i'd have given anything to have seen this played as that wonderful EP was out.
@AlbinoScout Only if your friends are into Radiohead. Then songs like High and Dry & Jigsaws Falling Into Place are good. :)
@AlbinoScout bro.... radiohead and modest mouse..... they are the only bands i listen to.
@TrajektorieLogik Eh, I always considered M&A to be part of the old Modest Mouse. I guess it depends on whether you think of new as major label or as indie pop. I see it as the latter.
M&A is awesome though
he's pressing with the side of his palm on his recessed floating tremolo bar with every stroke where he does the bends.
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg, he's goin nutz!
Every time I hear a new Modest Mouse song thats been recorded. I think to myself 'There's no way they can play that well live', Every time I am wrong
@NeptuneMS385 actually i prefer the newer stuff. could be the quality of the old records being a bit of a turnoff, but good news and we were dead were both phenomenal albums all around. i didnt think as albums, the older shit was as good. see? now you've found someone :)
@hbwcrackwhore pretty sure people who like diffiernt era's of modest mouse and dislike other era's of modest mouse are just posers
@Confusling Jim Fairchild, started touring with them when Johnny Marr left for the Cribs
the last two minutes of this video inspired me to live.
Amazing.
i THINK hes got a sort of floating bridge that he uses like a whammy bar, but a whammy pedal will make the same(ish) sound
Jordan Dillman I play guitar, terribly, and rhythm guitar at that. I just can't play lead. So this just blows my mind.
i'm not sure but i guess he does a lot of bending and he uses the whammy pedal..look at him at 4.18. before that moment he's moving around doing bending but after that he gets his foot on his pedalboard and that's when you can hear something very similar to the whammy pedal
@ProjectedIdea it's because jrcsgtpeppers said something. Most likely not intentional, but just to be funny, which turns out to not be so funny. haha
@hbwcrackwhore meh, it's good when they express their opinions in a way that doesn't claim a part of them yo be gay beyond their own personal opinion. @MrFreddychiva Thank YOU!
Isac was putting off so much energy in this song he just kicked a hole threw my fucking monitor!!!!
Is it just me or does Tom Peloso look a lot like Toby from the Office? And are the members of Modest Mouse extremely difficult to keep straight?
cant stop singing to the guitars :-D
@Synd465 Yeah a lot of people say Radiohead is like a bummer. I happen to like that type of music but it's understandable that other people don't. If I'm hanging out with people Mouse is my number one choice for music. Radiohead isn't fun to listen to with people. Like at all haha
Tom Peloso isn't playing guitar in this, no i meant the guy on the pale blue guitar
@mosaphat
filson (dot) com it's the Tin Cloth Wildfowl Hat. Filson makes some nice stuff
Who is the other guitarist with the black hair, i haven't seen him play with the band before.
People who say newer Modest Mouse sucks obviously haven't heard this, Ocean Breathes Salty, or Spitting Venom.
my goal is to learn this song on the guitar and play flawless but that might be impossible.
also I like how everyone's dancing like wooden indians in here
+Nigero Martinez i see what you did there
amazing
It creeps into my bones
I want to see them live so bad.
i believe youre talking about Johnny marr from the smiths
this is historic
no one gets into like him. no one.
Only a solo like that could come from Isaac Brock...thank you Isaac...mmm..
Que grandiosa cancion 👌
@cKunke2 Well said.
what the fuck i was here and i never seen this i got tix to this year too wtf
@TheWorldofAaron Heck yes.
Someone tell me why all these hateful comments towards this guy named Prozac?? and why so much love towards Isacc??
hahaha, Pat Graham @ 1:01
I WAS SUPPOSE TO GO TO THISSS!!!
:(
hmm no wonder he looked so young.. and here i was thinking i had seen johnny marr live :(
Isaac!!!! 💕💕💞💞💞💞💞💞💞😍😍😍😍😍💞💞💞💕
they just played this in columbus ohio..best fucking memories I'm ever going to have
makes the guitar sound like a fucken seal
I miss Eric
@hbwcrackwhore Y'know what's funny about that? There's two types of Modest Mouse fans; Us types who think everything Modest Mouse makes is godly, and there's those that only like the older stuff.
I have yet to find one Modest Mouse fan who only likes the new stuff and bashes on the old stuff.
me too!!!
Yeah I just heated this song last week sick live
2 dislikes are rejects
so fucking epic
The amount of instruments on that stage :L
I know I was a scout, I should've found a way out "tho" everyone could find a way out.
what a fuck was that how can people rock like that
i'm so devo that they'll prob never come to australia =(
awesome comment :)

giraffe pimp, although you could be right, dont make assumptions. we're not in modest mouse.
