To all of Cooper's video fans - It is with great sadness that we inform you that Cooper passed away suddenly on July 13. We had just come back from a few days with him playing in the water on the Colorado River. He succumbed to heart disease he kept well hidden from us. He was a fun, energetic dog and will be missed like we never imagined, but he lives on in our memories, like the one everyone enjoys in his video. Swim on, Cooper.
So sorry Teri. I lost mine a few years ago and I just can't get 100% over him. Dobermans are so special and nobody can under stand unless they have had one.!
I lost my 7 year old Doberman to dilated cardiomyopathy suddenly four months ago, so I know how it feels, horrible. The best dogs in the world with the most heartbreaking disease in the world.
Didn't even notice it the first time I watched the video. Was so fascinating by the intelligence, agility and fun-lovingness of that dog. Have had two in years past. Wonderful, wonderful animals.
Yes. My daughter learned to walk while holding onto the backs of our Dobes. But you MUST train them. Dobes are real people dogs and if you plan on leaving them as outside dogs they will dig, chew, bark and become like any other dog who just wants to be around their people. Don't get a dog is you don't plan on teaching it and yourself. Obedience is the BEST gift you can ever give your dog (or yourself) as it teaches you both a common language and strengthens the bond you will have.
Cooper was gently introduced to water when he was about 5 months old. We never did anything to cause him to be fearful and he always saw us relaxing and enjoying the water. We did, however, have to teach him how to get out of the pool if he accidently fell in. He learned it well and is truly a strange Dobe with his love of swimming. Just FYI... he hates a bath! Tolerates it at best!
It's all about the socializing. They can be good with almost anything. Our dobes are socialized to people, kids, cats, even rabbits and guinea pigs. But the vacuum... oh, the dreaded vacuum... that is another story. XD
ROFL, what a guy Cooper is! Thanks so much for the video, in the top 10 Doberman vids on RUclips. We have had 4 ( down to 1 now, sadly ) over the years and none of them even liked walking on wet grass. Anyone can see what an absolutely great time he is having and what great parents he adopted.
One of the most beautiful and intelligent Dobermans I have ever seen. Thankfully, they have stopped cropping their ears which is a very cruel and unnecessary procedure. Rest in Peace. According to Scripture, animals live on, and we shall meet them again.
Doberman are such a unique breed of dogs. Like a mad warrior with a full clown side. I took me a long time to get me head around my Doberman. Hate him and love him equally. Especially when he steels my blanket at 3am. If a person is up to the task, a Doberman will replace 2 dogs and 1 cat all in one dog.
They are real people dogs, but do require training. Any dog will benefit from lots of socialization and training. It teaches them a common language with you and helps them be better housepets. If you ignore them, leave them out in a yard or leave them unsupervised with no training or guidance they can be destructive. Teach them how to behave at home and in public and you will have a true friend.
We had a male and a female doberman... the male would always play in the backyard pool with me no matter what.. it kind of got old but he loved it and i couldnt resist letting him play :) he sadly passed away of old age....now our female i taught now to swim..she litterally jumped in the pool and wrapped her two front legs around the top of my shoulders and made me give her a tour around the pool untill she finally wanted to swim alone :)
There is no doubt about it!! Dobies are the most fun and funniest breeds around. I had different breeds in my past and got my first Dobe in 97.After the passing of my first one. I got another, a couple of years later. This was the first time in my life that I wanted the same breed again! The dobes in my opinion are number one with me.There is never a dull moment. A breed with the most characteristics rapped up in one!. Thx for sharing your dobe is aces and love em all! :)
Too COOL! I loved the Labrador/Doberman and this guy takes to the water good. My first Doberman never got close to water for about the first year and a half of her life, except for a bath. I took her home one summer to my parents house that had a stream in the back yard. I pushed her in with my Dad there and he couldn't stop laughing as she couldn't swim. She would walk on the bottom and slap the water. After a few days she got the hang of the dogie paddle though. Thanks & Y'all have a great dog
What an adorable dog!! Just read the sad news of his passing, however. So sorry. He must have brought you great joy during his lifetime. Hope you remember all the good times, even though I know you'll be hurting. Best regards.
Cooper has never been given a reason to be afraid of the water. He has never been splashed or thrown in. He sees us floating around, relaxing and having fun. Put the raft on a solid surface and let him think of it as a bed or, better yet, a control center. Let him get the feel of the raft before putting it in the water.
as an owner of 3 faithful, loving, beautiful dobees I can tell you that basically you become theirs, it's not the other way around. 2ndly it's crucial that you socialize them as soon as possible. Places like PETCO have puppy and me classes where you can take your puppy to have him play with other puppies and socialize them.
Then that's great! I love dogs so very much I know a lot of dogs and I know I would be a great owner for Dobermans. And I will definitely do all that thank you so much for your reply! :) I will teach them from a very young age then and I will be taking my dog every where with me I could never leave it alone. :)
My Dobie would not or could not swim. The one time I took him to the beach and threw a ball in the water, he went after it and I had to go in and rescue him LOL. It was hilarious to watch. He climbed up on me and rode me into the beach. Best dogs on the planet tho. Haven't been able to replace him yet. He was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too special.
@LOKISlog7 No problem. I'm looking into Dobermans, Rotts, Grate Danes, GSD, Boerboels, and Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. I still have plenty of time so I'm just trying to find out which would be best suited for me. I appreciate your insight and Dobermans definitely seem like loving, highly intelligent dogs.
Cooper has matured since this video was taken. He is now 85 lbs and solid as a rock, but this has changed his center of gravity, his size making him a bit more unstable on the raft, so he does not stand on it as much as he used to. But he still enjoys a float around the pool while lying down on it.
What teridm192 said. But another thing, dobermans are very sensitive, intelligent dogs, and can't tolerate harsh treatment. The most I have to do to discipline mine is say "no!" and frown at them--that is about enough to break their hearts. Harsh punishment will create a nervous, biting mess.
Are Dobermans good around other dogs and people? :) I'm planning on maybe getting one but I want to buy a book about them first to educate myself on them. But I was just wondering how they are around other dogs and people. thank you so much and your dog is beautiful!
Don't know the name but it is one of those heavy foam rafts that you can get at Costco, Target or any pool store. They are a seasonal item. This one is about 6 years old & still in good shape, albeit with some toenail marks for obvious reasons.
I have a 15.5 year old Golden Retriever (who's been my wife and I's son - been the best) - I've always wanted a Dobe and now have my wife talked into getting one when our baby's gone - I didn't realize they love the water like this. Great looking dog.
Man your Doberman is stunning, skilled and holy crap can he jump! I'm thinking of adopting one from a shelter (North Coast Doberman rescue, his name is Jagger). I was wondering if you had any advice for this breed, or a list of things not to do XD. Thanks!
Sad to see in comments that your special friend has passed....big paws to fill.... He looked to be having the time off his life..Frisby, pool, and most of all...love
Caper wants to come hang w/ Cooper. She loves the water but here in Vermont it comes in different forms so she improvises. She says if she can come for a winter pool break, Cooper can come here to learn to sled ;-)
Not really, it's something new for them that they've never experienced before. When the dog is scared to get in the pool the owner usually rewards the dog or tell the dog he's a good boy/girl and that only makes things worse.
So awesome! My dog "Victor the Doberman" also loves water. Unfortunately he just underwent emergency surgery for sudden onset of Wobblers this last Friday. Looks like you love your dog as much as I. Very cool.
What a magnificent dog , I have 2 bullies yrs ago that used to float around on airbeds in our pool , had to watch them for sunburn though , your dog looks super fit & healthy ( and very happy LOL )
excellent video of a dobe who is thoroughly enjoying himself......as others have posted my dobes have never taken to the water they obviously don't what they are missing... well done Cooper & owners
Linds Hoff-Seigel in California. Soquel Dobermans. She has a website. His tempermant is everything I want in a Doberman. Silly when he wants to be & serious when he has to be.
@Mrstamzers Cooper does not have Wobblers. A viewers dog does. If you suspect Wobblers, get him to a vet quick for a diagnosis, as this is a VERY painful condition.
He is so smart & good. You are so lucky to have him & I bet he gets kisses all of the time. Too bad my bulldogs won't stay on our float. Instead they sink like bricks!
A doberman has no idea it's a dog, ever. As far as they are concerned, they are doberpersons. The are only too happy to do anything and everything you do. :)
For the dogs that don't like pools, I'm wondering if its the smell of chlorine and other chemicals that overload their senses as to why they don't like it.
Loved your video! What a gorgeous dobe! What brand of pool float are you using for him? I'm looking for one that's stable like yours for my dobe. Thanks!
awwww my dad had a dobe whos name was CJ aka Copper Jr. lol he loved the ocean. we had a min pin for about 16 years until last year she hated the water
I've never seen a dog jump on a raft while IN the water...it's like a rocket coming out of the water.....so fun to watch people playing with their pets

Teri DiMarino
sorry to hear that. more research needs to be done into animal medicine
Teri DiMarino 😟He was an amore
So sorry. :'( He was a beauty, too.
The best dogs in the world with the most heartbreaking disease in the world.
everyone is like " what a cool dobie" and im like " what i would do if that spider on the wall was alive "
*Spiders CANT swim ;)*
Elise North ikr it scared meeee
A shotgun?
The spider on the wall scared the s**t out of me :D
Beautiful dog ! :)
Didn't even notice it the first time I watched the video. Was so fascinating by the intelligence, agility and fun-lovingness of that dog. Have had two in years past. Wonderful, wonderful animals.
smarter and more fun than my last wife!! I forgot better looking!!!!lol
LMfaooooo :"D
Probably more obedient too!
Seriously, why do wedding band say love, honour and obey?
What's with the giant spiders??? :O
That dobie has very impressive balance and agility.
That's really impressive the way he leaps out of the water onto his raft.
Haha love how he jumps for the raft every time. Dobermans are one of the best things in this world♥️ I miss mine dearly
I screamed at the sight of the giant spider in the background at first
Just realized Cooper has passed away, so very sorry for your loss.
LOL! This dog is a water rat!
Yes. My daughter learned to walk while holding onto the backs of our Dobes. But you MUST train them. He is quite a character!!
So sorry about Cooper. What a blessing to have this dog in our lives! Peace and good memories!
ForgiveAndLove09 what happened?
Cooper was gently introduced to water when he was about 5 months old. We never did anything to cause him to be fearful and he always saw us relaxing and enjoying the water. He's so cute especially when one ear is upright and the other isn't.
It's all about the socializing. They can be good with almost anything. Our dobes are socialized to people, kids, cats, even rabbits and guinea pigs.

You can almost hear Cooper thinking "Come on! Just let me chill on my raft"
So great! Makes me want to take my Dobermans swimming.
Great Video. Puts a big smile on my face. Lost my Doberman two weeks ago. Cried like a baby.
beautiful dog, hey where did you get that big spider on the wall? Its so cool
This is AWESOME!! My dobe hated water, haha
What a lovely happy dog having a great time :)
His balance and agility are great! What a lovely example of the breed. :-)
Seriously watching him jump up out of the water onto the raft in amazing!
Amazing how this dog keeps balance on the raft! Standing on it, jumping on it, pure fun!!
This has got to be the luckiest doggie in the world! He sure loves his floating board:)
Love the Dobes, but also LOVE the spider on the wall !
Love it! My Dobie loves to swim & catch his pool toys ....guess its time to get him a raft. Please check out some of his videos :-)
I hope my puppy Doberman will love swimming! My poodle and Rottweiler loved swimming!
so freaking adorable!!!!

6 water frisbees watched this video.
Linds Hoff-Seigel in California. Soquel Dobermans. She has a website. His tempermant is everything I want in a Doberman. Silly when he wants to be & serious when he has to be.
jest niesamowity :-) sorry but my eng. language is so poor in my mind. This dobie is creepy:-) ( I hate word amazing)
@Mrstamzers

Really enjoy watching your Dobie . Are used to have them for years
Beautiful dog...and he's a riot!! Beautiful pool, spider and the mural on wall too!
Frisbee thrower needs some practice...baiting the dog to run into the wall...nice
A doberman has no idea it's a dog, ever. As far as they are concerned, they are doberpersons. The are only too happy to do anything and everything you do. :)

hehee, i have a dobe, an inground pool, but no raft that will act like that, what kind is it and where did you get it?? Beautiful doggie, and smart
Sad...He was a really beautiful Doberman!
Great video, Please make more. Are girl Isabell (Fawn Doberman) Loves the pool and swims like a fish. I'm going to have to give her a raft of her own.
Omg your Doberman is beautiful!
Is he an american doberman or european doberman?
Beautiful dog. Great to have these precious videos of him.
why, why, oh why does my doberman refuse to swim in his pool?!?!?!?!?
I've never seen a dog jump on a raft while IN the water...it's like a rocket coming out of the water.....so fun to watch people playing with their pets
Is that a Marienburg dobe by any chance? He looks just like my guy, even has one ear that sometimes flops over a bit just like cooper.
how fabulous! thanks so much for posting:)
Ok you guys have a very nice looking doby and he is soo smart! How fun!! Can't wait for my 2 lil girls get bigger. Only 2 mths old :)
WOW!!!! I have never seen ANY dog do that..Very cool...I'll bet you couldnt teach one the same thing. You have one in a million
What in the hell!! I have never in my life seen anything like that before. Unbelievable!! You wouldn't see mine go near water.
I was all like, Awww so sweet. Can't wait till I get a Doberman. Then BAM I see that spider and now I can't stop looking at it.
Love this video! My Doberman can not swim at all. She's all legs when she gets in the water and looks like a drowning victim.
sorry... It looks funny to have a doberman on a water raft... 1:13 knocked me to the ground...
That is sooo amazing!!!! I have a 4 1/2 month old Dobie can u give me any advice so I can get him to do the same..? Please!!
Huge spider on the wall for decoration, and a doberman that loves to swim.
Spiders and doberman, my two favourite animals :)
what a fun dog...your backyard decorations are a little strange tho, LOL...what is that, a cobra and a mutant spider from mars!?
My Doberman doesent even know how to swim... If she falls in the pool she just sinks you need to jump in and get her.
My Doobie loved the lake. She was a great swimmer.
Big boy with an awesome show Crop. THUMBS UP to you for the responsible Doberman ownership.
I commend you.
Cheers
Wow, they have strong legs, you'd probably need a fence at least 8ft tall, to keep 'em from jumping over out onto the streets.
That giant spider is absolutely unnerving
Well i barely saw the dog after seeing that huge ass spider thingy on the wall. Gave me chills...:O
I got him to kind of jump into the pool from the steps but not onto a raft... how did u teach him to do that?
I can just imagine a burglar coming into your back yard, only to find a doberman lounging around in the pool.
I envy you. You have such a beautiful dog. Where I live they don't allow big dogs. Your dog is so smart.
He is adorable! Fun video!
Oh, he/she is so cute playing at the pool! We also own a dobie as well! They are the PERFECT animal.
Pies super!!! Pająk na ścianie okropny!!!
