That is a great question. I haven't been telling any good ones. The thought never occurred to me. I just made glorified postcards. B&H videos like this are slowly turning on the lights in my brain!
with too many rules in the head, It gets harder to come up with something good at times. So I just go to the basics- But it is yes important to learn all the techniques
B&H: You make great educational videos, but could you please do something about the poor audio in almost all your posts? It should be possible without great effort to make a more pleasent audio
I doubt I've ever seen a better presentation than this one. Incredible amount of information, even though I've been passionate about photography for about 10 years I still feel like I learned something today.
Wow!! where has this wonderful lady been all our photographic life? This is probably one of the best lectures you can watch to bring images to life for the viewer and pass on that connection with the photo subject. This is a must before all the worry about DOF, lenses, and all the other bits. It just makes so much sense to understand this visual language concept and how powerful it was in her Q&As you could feel her raw emotion about the images. A very impressive video and learning tool from a very impressive lecturer.
The last 2 minutes of the presentation where Sapna spoke to an audience question made the entire presentation worth watching. Showing her passion to what photography represents for her and help process the difficult moments of life into a compelling story. What an important message... thank you!
Thank you very much for this comment, I was about to exit the video and saw it. It was very moving and important…. If it wasn’t for you, I would’ve exit the video and lost the chance to hear the most important part of the video…. The human side of it.
Uh you were right. Her presentation was excellent, but the last 2 minutes were more precious than any thing you could hope for from a “stranger”. God bless your journey Doc!
Omigosh, I absolutely LOVE this approach to making pictures. Thank you so much for a wonderful and inspiring talk!! I have always been an avid reader of fiction and I can't tell you how the parallels presented here in associating verbal language with visual language cues has helped me understand what the heck people are talking about when they say pictures should 'tell a story'. I get it now! Thank you, Sapna, truly.
I was incredibly impressed with not only your video but your personal journey as well. I am so terribly sorry for the loss of your father! I lost my mother at the age of 19 and my father (who was also a doctor) two years later so I understand your pain! Thank you for a wonderful presentation!!
Thank you Dr. Reedy. Your presentation connecting the concepts of verbal language to "Visual Language" is very enlightening. It is a language we can all "understand" some can "Read" and even less can "Speak". Hopefully my own cave paintings will improve thanks to you.
This Video Presentation helps me to improve and knowing Her knowledge and the skills what she expressed exactly to the point on her Pictures. Really Salute🫡 Informative!
WOW. How much things you'll find from the photos. So many aspects. I can see that photography is not your passion, it is your lifestyle. I listened whole this seminar. I didn't understand all what you were saying, but I think I understood the biggest part. Great. 👋👋👋😲😲
The MOST powerful presentation I’ve ever seen on this topic. Sapna really opened my eyes and gave clarity to why we see things the way we do. This will change the way I look at a scene and its’ composition from here on. I will be revisiting this presentation many times over in the future. Thank you so much.
Great talk! Message at the end hit home. Photography is very healing and has helped me express my struggles with depression and create a strong bond with my subjects to tell their stories.
This is something I’ve often wondered about but never really took the time to analyze or understand. Most people are born and raised in regions of the world where language is read from left to right, top to bottom. We compose and are most comfortable viewing images in those directions as you allude to in your lecture. I’m wondering if photographers who live in countries where language is read from right to left or bottom to top compose their images based on the directionality of their native language. Or are the rules of composition simply universal. Just a thought.
That is a very good question. Although how many cultures are so secluded that they would not be constantly exposed to other languages and worldwide images. Perhaps that may dilute one's original preference ?
❤ this presentation but I found the HDR editing a little heavy handed. Having been to several of these places the actual processed pictures are not quite realistic. To each his own so IMO a little less editing would have been better. Her composition is exquisite. Definitely a lecture that fires up the spirit to go out and shoot
Such an accomplished photographer and artist. But ... you must admit that part of your secret is time and luxury of traveling to the far ends of the earth (magical places) and waiting for fleeting light. That is the Ansel Adams secret. Wait for hours for the right moment. Then post processing simply enhances the magic. You have to understand weather conditions.
Yes Philip am truly fortunate to be able to travel. But having two careers simultaneously means there are no days off. So time is one thing I have in very short supply :)
@@SapnaReddyphotography Yes indeed. Radiologists seem to excel at photography. I should know as an old ER doc, now Anti-Aging Medicine. Your photography is really about patience, preparation and time, obviously with a keen "third" eye.
@@SapnaReddyphotography Good Morning Sapna, thank you for your comments, I saw it awhile ago, and just wanted to make sure. I must say, I really enjoyed your presentation originally and the current one. You make sense to your approach in photography, and your work is beautiful
To be honest I find this kinda landscape photography a bit lame, it's always the same locations shot with the same overprocessed look. It all looks like it's taken by the same photographer. Just superficial pretty postcards, nothing more.
What are your techniques for visual storytelling?

And, just put your cameras in manual focus, so you dont get occasional focus hunting from the AF
Sapna, what type of camera do you use?

Probably the best presentation on the subject I have seen. I am bookmarking it because I will be coming back to it again and again for sure.
This woman is a wonderful teacher of light, shadow, contrast, composition, and ……… 👌
Thanks Kenny :)

Wonderful. A tremendous demonstration of the emotional language of photography. A real education in useful understandings and practices. Thank you.
Hi Sapna. Stumbled up this and totally enjoyed it. Intelligently presented and very informative. I should come to one of your workshops!!

That was great! Thanks for explaining photography in a unique way.
Am glad it made sense to you Andy.
Very informative hour i have ever experienced. Thank you so much. A question Sapna. What is the prep work you do the day before the shoot.
Thanks for such a great presentation. Really interesting, great examples, beautiful photos to help make her points. Thanks!
