I listened to it many times and my heart cries because of the beauty of your voice, Dimash. How honest and sincere you are in knowing how to convey sadness, parting, pain and love in this song. Every look, facial expression, gesture and even a breath - it penetrates the whole body and tears fly from the eyes. Dimash, what words do you find to express your admiration and love for you, as a singer, I don't know, there are not enough words. All words simply fade away and are not enough in front of your talent. I love and want to listen endlessly... When Dimash sang, suddenly imagine, as if under a light breeze, parted and turned, to this music and Dimash's singing, a pink sakura leaf flew. He flew over the river with trees (sakura) turning toward the water, and he flew far away...a great sadness that stuns the soul of the song lifts us above ourselves to our feelings. You may know this but you spoke of his dress. Dimash for years has been a high fashion model for Sportsman. Dimash doesn’t need another part time job but he’s got the slim frame and at 6’3” with his looks he’s perfect as a model. I know for tours he has a designer. I don’t know what the name of a person is when they were a child prodigy but as an adult is still growing in creativity but I think just as he collabs with his music he is enough of an artist to choose clothing himself or collab too. The reason I think he’s involved is thru the many years from the China show forward he is always dapper in his dress and don’t get me stared with his colors. The New York concert had the white sport jacket with the black tree branches on it turned up in the music video across endless dimensions. Other than repeating clothes in a concert I don’t see his clothes repeat. His modeling years would have given this artist ways to soak up the artistry of designers making clothing for him. Igor krutoy is like him in creativity too.
that explains a lot to me, I think he devours education in all fields, obviously in clothes and design too, i must say i am ignorant of much in the world of fashion, other subjects I do know some of. I dont have genius up take of Dimash I am fairly sure. You too seem so knowledgable on the subject, soory for my ignorance. Bob, I have seen countless reactions to Dimash since I discovered him in 2017 and I can tell you, you are the most observant because you see him as I and millions of other fans do, he is at the top of the vocal range, which is great, the voice is beautiful, the technique is immense, but Dimash's facial and body emotion that accompanies his performances is magnificent, it is the purest proof that Dimash conveys the purest emotion when he sings, he feels what he sings and does not hide it. .... is something magical, emotional, soulful.... no words to describe Dimash, just listen and feel the best emotions. This is exactly what I love about Dimash: he never holds anything back, he is so authentic and sincere in his performances, I think he has a natural emotional deph and wisdom so that there is this deep emotional connection between him and his audience. Agree. Within 22+ years of formal studies in music, voice, musical theatre, opera, production, composition, etc. etc. it would be very odd if Dimash hadn't covered all aspects of how various forms of musical expression can impact on the human brain, central nervous system. His use of various types of vibrato, vocal fry, vocal cry, breathiness, dynamic, creating tension & building anticipation with pauses tells us that he has all of these intentionally within his toolkit. Dimash crosses / mixes up diverse genres in performance but often utilizes bel canto techniques to take his audience on an experiential roller coaster; building climactic passages, sliding into decrescendo & then bringing the audience from dizzying heights safely back down to a soft landing. Here he ends with a very meaningful & precisely nuanced respect gesture, for his Japanese audience.
Every microsecond & every gesture & facial expression within every performance is micromanaged and all is delivered with total commitment to the storyline.
If it were purely precise technicality it would leave us admiring but cold, but Dimash's performances are far more than his genetic gifts & his training. As someone in the same profession what has continually struck me is Dimash's extraordinary capacity to engage his audience at an almost visceral level, and as you have identified; it is the way he enters into, embodies the song that is so powerful. He pours his all into every note & every breath between and by being fully present in the moment he makes it easy for his audience to be just as present. This goes beyond stagecraft & stage presence to something more profound.

This was a very enjoyable reaction. This is quickly becoming one if not the favorite Dimash performance for me and it invokes a very visceral response in me, just as "Ave Maria" did. Dimash sang and recorded "Ikanaide" for the Tokyo Jazz Festival in January of 2021. According to several native Japanese speakers, Dimash's pronunciation of the lyrics is nearly flawless. One native speaker, who gave a detailed analysis, stated that he is "expressing Japanese more (better) than Japanese" and that he does not only perfectly pronounce Japanese but "expresses Japanese…with Japanese emotion.". Goro Matsui, who wrote the lyrics to "Ikanaide," posted on his Twitter account that he has never heard a foreigner sing in Japanese in such a beautiful way.
Tamaki Kōji composed the music and performed the song in 1989. "Ikanaide" became the title song for the Chinese-Japanese TV series "Farewell, Li Xianglan," filmed that year. It is the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress and singer during World War II who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends, she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched.
She resettled in Japan, where she would continue to enjoy a successful acting career. In the 1950s, she moved her acting career to Hollywood and Broadway under the name Shirley Yamaguchi but returned to Japan in 1959, retiring from acting. She would go on to become a TV presenter and eventually a politician. She did not return to China for nearly 20 years.
In 1990, "Ikanaide" was translated into Cantonese and sung by Jacky Cheung using the same melody. Later, the song was rewritten and translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin under the title "Late Autumn." In 2004 the Taiwanese singer Terry Lin adapted the song into a new version titled "In Deep Autumn," with lyrics written by Daryl Yao.
Dimash chose the 2004 Taiwanese version arranged by Terry Lin with Mandarin lyrics for his performance at the 2017 "I Am A Singer" competition but gave it his own interpretation and titled it "Autumn Strong." This song went on to earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during the Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong.

I’ve heard people analyzing Dimash. The interesting thing was they say it’s not just his voice. If you watch his videos you’ll notice the camera will cut to his hands. His emotion comes from his hands and body. Most emotional pieces he will close his eyes to feel the music prior to singing. It’s very comforting when he sings.

Dimash was given to his paternal grandparents as a baby.
It was a Qazak tradition. He was the first-born son of his parents and first-born grandson of his paternal grandparents and he was given to them for ten years.
His grandparents, whom he still calls Mama and Papa were close to poor, but they lavished their love on him. Training him to walk in a righteous (Muslim) manner, and to love others, to not speak ill of others, and to be a great man.
His grandfather taught him to play chess and his grandmother, who was an educator, gave him a love of reading classical works .When he was 5, he informed his grandmother that her piano was out of tune and long before that, had begun playing classical pieces on the piano by hearing them and putting his hands to the piano and playing those pieces without music.
His "Mama" immediately knew he had to receive the best music training available in Kazakhstan. He committed his time, his days to educating himself both in music and academics. He has a Masters, in Music composition and is well into his doctoral studies. He is a man who loves his family immensely,, loves babies and little ones, with videos on youtube of him holding babies and kissing them on the cheek and forehead. Because he has younger siblings, he began holding them and others. Comforting them. Never shying away if they cry. He is not the type to hand them back to their parents, but holds them and speaks to them in whispers until they are comforted.

While he did not grow up with money, he grew up with some of the most fabulous sets of parents possible.
Since he is tall, 6'3", he has done a lot of modeling for men's clothing, spends time in the mountains riding horses with his father

He seems to be a man among men. In the U.S. no one wants to dedicate themselves to their craft.
He is a man to be greatly admired.
He has had a very interesting background, education has been central to him and loving family, it seems most of his wonderfulness comes from within him naturally and is given out to al around him, and to the world now, we are lucky to have him and his musical brilliance. You missed one part which is incorrect and has been corrected by Dimash and his family. They were all in the same house, Grandparents, Parents, Dimash and later on, his sister and brother. So he was "Not Given to his Grandparents", Grandparents were the major part of raising Dimash, but not without his parents. Dimash stated that his grandparents would take him to his parents performances and concerts, that is how he came to love performing on the stage.

IKANAIDE means "PLEASE DO NOT GO". It is the story of a Japanese singer and actress who lived in China and during World War II, China was invaded by the Japanese. She was considered a spy by the Chinese, was arrested and deported to Japan leaving a trail of sadness and longing in her friends and loves.
Dimash moves us with this wonderful performance, between a silent request and final despair.

Straight into heart and soul. On one concert he said to his fans that they shouldn’t restrain themselves if they did so he would sing accordingly. He continued that he trusts his fans (and because of that he can give his all and show his deepest inside ) and his fans should also trust each other like he does and show their emotions. This says it all. What an artist. I love him not only for his voice but for his whole being.
