I heard this song playing in my gym a couple of days ago and I’ve been listening to their album on repeat since then. I’m not a huge fan of rock music, but Beautiful Death is honestly the only rock album I can listen to from start to finish. SO FUCKING GOOD!!!!!

This album really spoke to me. When I went to see yall at the Chain Reaction in Anaheim you all signed my guitar and you can see me in the live music video. I was homeless and seeing yall was the last thing I did on the West Coast before driving back to Georgia. We talked a little bit of recovery at the meet and greet (I had just left a sober living and was battling a opiod/ opiate addiction). When I feel like giving in and ending it I listen to The Pact and it gives me hope. You guys are changing the music industry and lives in the process. Much love.

Crazy how Jonny is such a good vocalist, I will actually listen to and like alot of this slaves record even though the actual guitar parts are so simple, boring, uninspired. I miss when he was in awesome bands that push thier musicianship and had incredible songwriting skills.. Dance Gavin Dance, and Emarosa, are the caliber of musicians that Jonny belongs with. Obviously, as Slaves they can still write decent songs that are popular. But I miss the energy that Jonny had in all the DGD, and Emarosa albums. Those bands never made a bad song. I hope at least one more time in Jonny's career, he is able to make an album with musicians on that level. Would be amazing.
Maybe you just like tech bands.. we aren't that.....Never wanted to be, never will be.
And if we were one of those bands, everyone would just talk shit about how we are trying to sound like DGD. Never really liked that kind of music anyway
My interpretation of what sleeptron is trying to say is that the musicianship doesn't sound inspired at all. Considering the work Erik Ron has done with other bands, he was well suited to write and produce a "commercial" post hardcore album that is equal parts heavy and poppy/catchy. It's a tried and true approach that has been done over and over and over again. While DGD and Emarosa might be more "tech", they were both pioneers in stretching and defining the post-hardcore genre as it is known today. Slaves wouldn't have to be a carbon copy of DGD to make music that's inspired by more than just radio-friendly rock riffs.
I'm loving the new stuff just as much as his old stuff. I like how different every band/album is so far. If he kept doing the same thing over and over I feel like it would be washed out. I also feel like this style would have much more energy live than his previous work. Nothing wrong with change, keeps it feeling fresh.
One thing that I and I'm sure almost all fans would love is a sort of reimagined/acoustic album/EP though.
