- the holiday has come, let's sing this song with our beloved fam.
Happy Holiday...
The Violin sing with joyful ring,
The Violin sing with joyful ring.
The Clarinet, the Clarinet goes doodle,
doodley, doodley, doodley, det.
The Clarinet, the Clarinet goes
doodle, doodley, doodley, doodley, det.
The Horn, the horn, sounds so forlorn.

Why do I think about this every day of my life?
nbadraft08 Ha ha haa. I definitely do too. "The horn... the horn...." LOL. I teach choirs and whenever they think they have the right note but won't listen to the correct one I think of this and laugh. This is also one of the many running gags between my mom, my brother, and myself. So if we're in a situation where there's a person that is what my family calls "loud AND wrong", we look at each other and say, "I got it!" like Greg Kinnear does here. Good times.
Defs a rent free video for me
Me always around christmas
🎶🎶The clarinet the clarinet 🎶 - love it so much ! Just taught that part to my 4 yr old granddaughter and look it up on here to show her. Now she can’t get it out of her head either! Can’t wait to watch Youve Got Mail with her when she’s older! My all time fav!! ❤
Same here
it's incredible, the swell of emotion and memory and nostalgia a moment like this can bring. Nora Ephron and the crew and actors really gave us something so special, so vivid and true and relatable here. It's so simple and seemingly unimportant, but it's moments like these that can leave such a lasting impact and do so much for world-building in storytelling. What a lost art.
Tom Hanks, New York and books. This is one of my favourite movies. *_*
and 90` internet

I learned this song in Girl Scouts. There's also the part about "the drum playing two tones they're always the same tones the drum playing two tones they're always the same"
(anyway, I think its the drum. it's been 45 years so I don't remember exactly)
Exactly for me too learned from church in the 60s during our Christmas Pageant. I so loved it and heard it on this movie. Happy to have it around still going.
The Timpani’s two notes! It’s always the same notes. 😂

I remember watching a kid's show and they sang this song but I forgot what the movie was called. Does anyone know? It's about these kids going to their uncles house and he has this orchestra doll set and they come to life and sing this. A bunch of other stuff happens but this is what I remember.

As a horn player, I much prefer the version that says "awakes me at morn". What's with this "forlorn crap!!! (It's translation from Austrian, so we have some leeway here, folks!)
I want to know the lyrics of this song.. especially the last part.. it says the horn the horn... and i dont know after that..
The violin sings
With joyful ring
The violin sings
With joyful ring.
The clarinet, the clarinet
Goes doodly-doodly-doodly-dooodle-det
The clarinet, the clarinet
Goes doodly-doodly-doodly-det
The horn, the horn,
The horn sounds so forlorn...
I always learned in 4 years of choir:
The violins singing with joyful ringing
The violins sing with joyful ring
The clarinet, the clarinet, goes doodly doodly doodly doodly det
The clarinet, the clarinet, goes doodly doodly doodly det
The horn, the horn, it sound so forlorn
The horn, the horn, it sounds so forlorn
The kettle drums play but they play only two tones
Five one, one five, boom boom boom boom boom
continues... The horn, the horn it sounds so forlorn
The kettle drum play but they play only two-tone; 5-1; 1-5, boom, boom, boom, boom.
