I walk on cold cloudy days, by streets full of indifferent people, listening to this. I get a feeling I just can't describe. Thank you Tony, your music speaks to the cosmos and to my soul.
Dominic Buitenhuis I had a feeling that was going to be said when I noticed there was a comment on it, haha! I regret to inform you that I decline your offer XD
I was listening to this song from my ear plugs in a plane in snow storm when it landed to Helsinki airport. In same plane there was Tony Kakko and he gave me a look in turbulence.. Epic!
I remember the day this single was released, I picked it up on my way to work (a summer job cutting lawn, 16yrs old). Then I was kicking it with my old school portable cd-player while riding a lawnmower :D
***** All that makes sense and everything, perhaps more than mine theory, but i want to share: Isnt it just about life of man? Perhaps about his experiences? He is not sure what kind of girl he likes, therefore he tryes every girl he gets close to, "Seven lifes of a men passed before me. Seven lives, one for every love I had. ", every "life" is the time he was with her, happy but only one relationship made sense to him, "Only One made me see why they cry". "I was raised from a broken seed." could be reason he cant get to like any kind of woman in particular, because maybe something happened in his childhood? Now that i think about it yours could be more close to the truth.
OMG WOOOW!!!!!!!!!! Tony's Genius Voice Amaaaazing Lyrics Phenomenal Super Song Everything just A MASTERPIECE I LOOOOOVE IT BEST SONATA ARCTICA ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Oi, oi. Kuuntelen tämän vähintään kerran päivässä, enkä kyllästy ikinä (: Lisäksi tämä muistuttaa minua eräästä minulle tärkeästä ihmisestä ~ Once again hope I died for the last time.
+haseothepkker can you see my blood when im bleeding? I found this band as a joke and these "lyrics" are absolutely TERRIBLE. There is almost 0 rhythm to this song and it repeats shit odd amounts of time.
Joe Kickass "Morning dew on the field, where i met you" "seven lives of a man, passed before me. Seven graves, one for every love I've had." You purposely choose literally the worst line while ignoring the rest of the gems. everything else you said is plain opinion, and holds no intrinsic value.
...I've been listening to them since 2006 or so, how can it be that I discovered this song only 5 minutes and 16 seconds ago?! I've heard this only once now and I'm already in love with it *.*
Burning feathers, not an Angel, Heaven´s closed, Hell´s sold out So I walk on the Earth, behind the curtains, hidden from everyone, Until I find a new life to ruin again…
I'm writing a Webcomic, and this song sums up my villain's backstory perfectly. I play it whenever I'm writing heavy scenes with him in it. If the comic ever becomes popular, remember this comment lol.
I am also a writer and this song also perfectly fits on my character. He’s not a villain, he’s just... broken and lost. But he wants to be a better person.
"still"... I wouldn't say if they were around for like 40 years or so... but so every metalhead has heard about them once in their life and I mean, SA are just epic, once you start listening to them, you won't stop.
some poeple get tooooooooooooo excited to hear this song then instead of clicking LIKE they fail and click Dislike . thouse arent actually DISLIKES. :D:D when my pain is my pain and yours is too. period.
forgot how depressed this song get's me ......then i forgot about the true reason i will forever love this song ......just wish my ex loved this band so i could bear my heart to her just for once ....but she don't like metal ....so how is she gonna undertand how much i love her ,damn this song is too close to my past it hurt's , is there ne one who can understand ????? feel so alone at the moment ... stunning song ...sonata rock's ..this is a classic
Pretty good band. Heard their cover of Die With Your Boots On and decided they deserved a look. To me it sounds like Journey and Dio combined. Who knows, maybe I'll become a true fan soon, but until then, they are definitely a band of interest for me. UP THE IRONS FOR SONATA ARTICA!!! \M/ \M/
@Darkjota2008 I think that the song is about a man how cant die, and every time he die he resurect in a diferent person, so the 7 graves are his past lives
Coming back I might have a potential meaning for this song.. it can be metaphoric for being broken with the sea, as in, the sea levels are rising, so we are becoming upset and/or uncomfortable with the idea... take this for example: “bless this night with a tear, for I have none I fear” . it may very well be a reference to global warming/rising sea levels/weather changes. he is telling the sky/earth to rain, (and consequently further increase the sea levels) and he is trying to sound brave, but the whispery way he says “fear” at the end really is a giveaway that he is hesitant, and so, scared of the aftermath of all mankind’s missdoings.
I would go with him on this one, there's nothing unnatural, it is a man who has simply suffered. If you base your theory on the fact that he says "seven graves, one for every love i had" I believe this doesn't actually mean graves, but rather a symbol for his lost/dead love for those people
Does anyone knows what this song talks about? I have some theories: maybe they're talking about a man (Tony Kakko himself in a moment of his life), maybe they're talking about a fallen angel that fell in love with a woman (who knows?), or maybe they're talking about a fictional person. That's all that I can think. Anyway it's my favourite song of all times ever! It brings so many memories of my teenage years...
Darkart Manga even though it comes quite late: during the "For The Sake Of Revenge" live performance he used his guitar's volume to swell into the beginning notes. In the studio he might have used a volume pedal for that purpose
One of the most beautiful songs of Sonata!
I'd forgotten this song for many years, but two days ago I had a dream that sounded this song.... and now here I am, listening it :)_______
QQ
It's kind of magical when you rediscovers songs that way. I recently did that with "Journey to the Spirit World" by Darkseed.
"DO YOU REALLY KNOW ME?!"
(deeper voice) "I might be a God"
Pure perfectness.
I walk on cold cloudy days, by streets full of indifferent people, listening to this. I get a feeling I just can't describe. Thank you Tony, your music speaks to the cosmos and to my soul.
If I ever have children, I'm definitely bringing them up on Sonata Arctica. They're one of my all-time favourite bands.
well i can help you with making kids :P
Dominic Buitenhuis

xXallegedangelXx Poor guy..
The Lone Wanderer.
I would agree if I had actually known the guy.
He's a young man, unlucky in love and shy around girls.
I was listening to this song from my ear plugs in a plane in snow storm when it landed to Helsinki airport. In same plane there was Tony Kakko and he gave me a look in turbulence.. Epic!
My dreams IS to know Helsinki, Espoo and Turku 💰😎
Greetings frio Brazil
Brings up some good memories *.* those were the best days of my life !

I'm on a Sonata binge after couple of years' pause. Didn't remember how great lyrics they have on their first albums.
Lol same. Suddenly started listening to their songs again and remembered they were better than all the crap I listen to nowadays
"So I walk on earth, behind the curtains, hidden from everyone,
until I find a NEW LIFE TO RUIN AGAIN"... :(
I know Broken isn't related to the Stalker saga, but this phrase is totally something Caleb would say.
I remember the day this single was released, I picked it up on my way to work (a summer job cutting lawn, 16yrs old). Then I was kicking it with my old school portable cd-player while riding a lawnmower :D
Sounds like a great memory!
I'll listen to Sonata Arctica till the end of my days :)
AWESOME SONG, GREAT LYRICS. LOVE IT !
"So I walk on the earth, behind the curtains, hidden from everyone, until I find a new life to ruin again". I can so much relate on this sentence....
One of the songs that made me fall in love with Sonata. Unique love and deep respect.

My favourite song from this group. When I was younger I loved this group.
@Girafazzul
It's like poetry. It makes sense if you try to make sense out of it and no one is going to interpret it the same way.
The lyrics are so not precised that it can be associate to anyone's specific events of life. I think that is the beauty of this song and lyrics!
***** All that makes sense and everything, perhaps more than mine theory, but i want to share: Isnt it just about life of man? Perhaps about his experiences? When someone doesn't like something, they say that they don't like it, not that it's bad. :)
My favorite Sonata Arctica's slow song. It has very interesting and disturbing lyrics.
Amazing story that lies in this song if you use your fantasy :)
Someone else still hearing this on late 2019???
Luis Morales is not in Spotify so I come here !
Indeed.
So is narrator demon, or devil?

They band have said many times that they aren't power metal, they play melodic metal / rock music
"Do you even know me? I might be a god" XDD lol I'm soooo using that at one point.
My heart is broken
this is a verygood song
@Darkjota2008 I think that the song is about a man how cant die, and every time he die he resurect in a diferent person, so the 7 graves are his past lives
I really love this song!!!
+1 if you agree!

Thumbs up if u still listen to Sonata Arctica in 2013!!

I'm pretty sure he says "on this darkwinter's night"... Or are my ears turning into porridge?
***** It's not just you :) I hear darkwinter too.
+LouD It does say it. "On this darkwinter's night...".
It's deadwinter's, learn how to listen properly.

Now I'm just confused... Are you referring to my profile pic? I just think wolves are badass. Doesn't make me a furry.Dimitrij Ryshewsky
The best song ever.
Does anyone knows what this song talks about? maybe not a fallen angel but a fallen god, I have a theory but Ill keep it for myself.
Gay as in "not whatisconsidered manly" enough. My definition of opinion is gold. Ty.

My pain is my pain and yours is too
Which effect Jani uses on the solo?
Darkart Manga even though it comes quite late: during the "For The Sake Of Revenge" live performance he used his guitar's volume to swell into the beginning notes. In the studio he might have used a volume pedal for that purpose
