For me, this video encapsulates one of the two things I've noticed about this channel.
One, it covers the obscure and
Two, when it covers the commonplace it does so without the waffle. Great video. Keep it up.

It’s nice that a video on the fall of France isn’t just a slagging of the French and BEF, the Germans literally created the perfect plan and the allies where outdated until later on

Nice video, the French and BEF simply weren’t ready for mobile warfare at the time they dug in and thought it’d be same as last time

Char B was better than anything the Germans had.. but in the video like you say.. French tactics all wrong, couldn’t deploy them properly so they where destroyed by the numbers..

wasn't the Char B influential in the design of the American Grant tank ?

@dovidell that's not something I've ever heard, but I wouldn't discount it without further research. Obviously the main gun in a sponson is a clue, but I do know with the Grant it was because a decent turret hadn't been designed to take a 75mm gun and it was literally a stop-gap, but nevertheless a stop-gap that the British were glad of in the desert and though obsolete in Europe, was more than a match for Japanese tanks, so many of them were shipped to the Far East.

@@thomashynd2291I think a man with a boxing glove would of been a match for Japanese tanks! Bloody pathetic they where

@@thomashynd2291 the Germans and their Italian allies in North Africa initially had tanks armed with 50 mm main guns, so a 75 mm main gun ( even a low velocity one) must have come as quite a shock .I know that Height of the Grant tank at around 3 meters must have made it stick out like a sore thumb , which would add emphasis to get the Sherman tank ( even the early versions ) into the field as soon as possible.
( I noticed now the height difference between the Grant/Lee tank and the Sherman wasn't that much , but one which MIGHT have made a difference , when trying to camouflage the vehicle )
