- Puncetto Valsesiano ( Valsesia - Vercelli - Italy ): traditional valsesian lace. Needle and thread are the only tools required to produce this lace made of tiny knots. Directed by Riccardo Bozzo DRK, Varallo 2007. Audio removed for copyright issues.
There are four istructional book on Puncetto Valsesiano.
Now they are not available and they will not be reprinted.
But a new book that summarize and fulfill the old four is in preparation.
The new book will be presented during the International Forum of Lace and Embroidery in Parma, tha 10th of May 2009.

A great piece of art starts with just one tiny stitch.
I now it's similar to igne oyasi but this hand work is tipical of Valsesia (a little valley in north of Italy, Piedmont)!!! The name of this lace is "Puncetto Valsesiano". This hand work decorate also the tipical dresses of Valsesia (that are about 450 years old).

ci sono pubblicati dei libri sulla tecnica del puncetto (anche su quello colorato) e un nuovo libro deve essere pubblicato. A Varallo si tengono lezioni di puncetto, ma immagino che è un po distante...conosco però una maestra di puncetto che adesso abita a Gijon...se volete ulteriori informazioni scrivetemi una mail. ciao

Looks similaf to Armenian lace but with the knots arranged back and forth rather than in rings. Would live to know how theh work the different patterns.
The knot is slightly different from the Armenian lace knot. The difference is in how the thread is wrapped around the needle.

This looks very much like tatting (occhi, frivolite, schiffchenspitze) but she is using the needle as a shuttle.
Punc means in Slovak language the mark on gold, or the number of carats or mark I do not know...that what is on gold and this knot looks such and this kind of handwork look dear and noble.
I do not know if it is only one part of frivolite knot or two parts... but I will try research it from video...when is one part it is then turned...so I go to see which kind of knot is this...looks similary to frivolite...and tatting...
