I let the seeds of ginko sit in the garden in their skin for the winter and bring them in on April 1st ( true first day of the new year) set them into a container with a lid and on my furnace.

Could you put them on damp kitchen roll rather rhan soil in the bag. To stratify them.

Hi, I’ve seen a lot of people saying it’s not essential to stratify BP seeds… people have even reported germination within 10 days straight from the bag into soil mix… I’ve read they just need the 24 soak in warm water and then can be sown and will germinate within 2 weeks or less … I’ve no experience myself but just would like your opinion if that’s ok ?
How long did your seeds take to germinate by the way ? Great btw video thank you

Hi and thanks for your comment :-) I have never been able to source fresh seed from a tree. These might well germinate without any need for chilling. The seeds I used were dry so I use a water soak and then a moist chilling period to break the dormancy that sets in when the seeds dry out. They usualy take between 4 to 6 weeks of chilling before they germinate. It does depend greatly on the seed and not all seeds set will grow. So once I find a reliable source of seed I use them again. Hope this helps.
