@Savage Rice Cake funny enough, AFF instructors make fuck all. For all the work they do in air and on the ground, they dont make a whole lot... pro tip: the video guys do less work, and usually make more.

The heavy spinners are mostly lvl 5 so no need to worry about this happening on first jumps :) that is also the reason instructors let them spin more than normal, they have showed that they can pull at the right alt. and they have already failed lvl 5 couple of times.
We are trained to stop a students spin and correct their position “once learning has ceased.” No instructor should ever “let a student spin longer than normal.”
@@nicholasmartin7922 I completely agree, but it isn't always as easy as it sounds. But I do admit that this video is suitable to show instructors what not to do also. Especially at the moment of deployment, instructors should make sure that it's not done during a spin.
Martin J sure you can try for them to be stable. But pull priories in order are 1. Pull, 2. Pull at the right altitude, 3. Pull stable. Instructors should not sacrifice altitude for their students stability. This student clearly needs a parachute above their head. It is entirely appropriate to dump them during instability.
@@nicholasmartin7922 If you read the comment again that you are answering, you will actually see that "they have showed that they can pull at the right alt." No altitude was sacrificed
Martin J but just because they have shown that they can doesn’t mean that they will. This person has what, 5? 6 jumps total? This person can’t stay stable for the life of them. They can easily lose altitude awareness in a spin. I wouldn’t on them having proved that they can pull at the right altitude.
Hahahaha! Since you can only see the instructors hands moving around it gives the impression the instructor is dancing to the music while his partner just flails in the wind.. OMG I died!
I remember once watching a documentary about the military AFF course and I would like to see it again. I remember something about some big husky Green Beret who had to drop out because he could not freefall in a stable position.
You can talk and practise on the ground as much as you want, but some don't get the hang of it even after 10 jumps. It's more mental, to be honest, if you don't manage to relax, you will keep spinning. Fortunately, it's a problem only in the countries without a WindTunnel nowadays.
Was this for real? Check at 1:08, the guy perfectly timed a fraction of second to be stable to release the pilot and did it perfectly. This could also have been titled "training for instructors" lol
The easy answer is "arch and relax", but it isn't always that easy to do it. If you can, go to the wind tunnel before the AFF course, if not, talk to your instructor for tips and make sure you practice a lot on the ground. But don't worry about it too much, it's about 1 from 1000 students that manage to spin like this. Blue skies!
Military training, or military crossover jumps. Usually military static line doing HALO training. Look at the gear they wear, all military issue... While the AFFIs all have civvy gear.
I've done loads of jumps in the past had my own rig and jumped all over the world whilst working on super yachts you my friend stick to chess 🤣 funny to watch wouldn't fancy being an instructor
Relax and arch harder to lower your centre of gravity. Check that your arms and legs are symmetrical. If that fails, pull your arms down to your sides and dive (delta). These guys all seemed to keep their legs straight and had their hands in front of their face. Their shoulder, elbow, crotch, and knee angles should all be 90deg and their hips fused forward..
Put a "ChubbyChecker - Let's twist again" song in this video , and it wins instantly. :D Now you can advance to pilot training session. You overcame some serious G-s there. You will nail the centrifuge ! Thanks for sharing man ~ blue sky to you , wish you many many adventurous jumps. ;)
@@johnblack1675 or wearing boots, or open face helmets. Instructors play the part well, but not that well. They dont want to clock people in the face with docs or get a bloody nose themselves.
You can pull it from any position. As long as pilot chute catches air, it will open everything else. Opening will be a bit more uncomfortable if not in correct position, but nothing too bad usually. The biggest danger is if you throw the pilot chute during a very heavy spin and the bridle wraps around your hand or leg before it will pull the pin. That is the reason a stable position is much more recommend. But most important is the opening altitude! Spins do happen sometimes, you must try to stop them, but as soon as you are at your pull altitude, you have to open your parachute (no matter the body position or stability)!

I have never seen a more tenacious skydiver. This guy just kept on jumping.
I was a spinner so had to give up on my dream. I am thankful I had a competent instructor. This is the stuff of my nightmares.
This is what I’m going to watch whenever I feel sad now!
I watch this before AFF jumps and it calms me down from laughing so hard. Music really did it!

Watched these to motivate myself to not fuck up during my AFF
fighting the air instead of using it , falling like a plank and spinning, just like I did at first
Don't know much about skydiving, muchz mucho respect for these instructors...
Well done to the student, for getting back on the horse. I was called “river dance” on a DZ in Spain many years ago due to the kicking on exit 😂

Its like the perfect video for this song.
If their control is on that level, maybe couple of times in the wind tunnel wouldn't be bad idea.
that's the Millennial way...
Why would the military spend money on a tunnel when they can just throw them out again, or move on to the next person in the list?
He IS a wind tunnel.

This "AFF student" is obviously a very experienced skydiver. This is the skydiving version of a comedy sketch.
Find me an experienced skydiver who is willing to pull during a spin and I'll pay you loads of money :) these students are as real as it gets!

Good choice of song but I have another suggestion which is 'You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby!

So how many dope rope jumps did these boots do beforehand?
Ok if you did your AFF out of a helicopter you are instantly the coolest sub 200 jumper on this planet. I'm jealous.

It's the sound from Return Fire(computer game)
Ride of the Valkyries+helicopter

1:03 I presume this is an uncontrolled spin and unintentional? Or are they training him exactly on that point, how to recover from such ?

I still find it hard to make fun of someone still jumps and keeps trying. I imagine the instructors get smacked in the face a lot.
How can you stabilize yourself if you begin to spin like this?

Out of curiosity: What is the fix for spinning whilst diving? I would assume to try to have a very stable body poisture?
1. relax
2. counter the spin to the opposite direction
Relax and arch harder to lower your centre of gravity. Check that your arms and legs are symmetrical. If that fails, pull your arms down to your sides and dive (delta).
