  • Continuing with my float making videos during lockdown, I make some small roach floats for the youngsters in the family to use the next time we all go out onto the broads. Thee are made from a garden twigs and kebab skewers.

Hand made floats are so much more appealing than commercial floats the colours are more vibrant and I love the fact that you can personalise them to your taste or what you like loved the video thanks for sharing 🎣👍

    Hi Andy
Glad to see your well and safe😷
Well I have a challenge for you if you fancy something different....
Try and make a pike lure. Any size any material. Then once the lockdown is over try and catch with it.
Hope that is a good idea and you fancy it. If anyone reads this text give it a thumbs up if you agree👍
    Stay safe mate 🎣😷🎣😷🎣

Hi Gavin, yes all OK this end, that's a great challenge! I've been looking at making a lure nor sure where to start though. I will definitely give it a go though. 👍

Andy, have you tried 'Pipers Silk'? A bit pricey, but if you are making floats as presents well worth it mate. Great video, I haven't made traditional Roach floats yet, so Mullin or Orion's Bow as we call it around here would look really good.

Hi Steve, yeah I use pipes silk, although not very often as I do struggle with patience when I'm doing the detailed work! 😅👍

@@TheBudgetAngler I know the feeling. I got myself a LED lamp with a magnify glass attachment, that helps. I tend to use wood dyes on reed, bamboo and balsa rather than painting the main body. Loads of great colours to chose from.

Andy, you're doing well with this!
Your straight / insert wagglers are fine - but for a 'bodied' float, I would place the body at the bottom, similar to an onion float. This leaves the fine tapered tip - easier to shot, and will cast much better as your bulk shot is at the base where the 'body' is.

Thanks mate, good tip, I've just started on something similar I'm now up to about 70 floats 😅 stay safe@

Did you order the silk thread on ebay? Coming up £3 when i search silk sewing thread.

Hello mate, no I didn't, I went to www.pipers-silks.com they've not arrived yet though. I ordered the coloured stuff they call floss, and the black is "fine twisted" silk.

Couldn’t you use a small pencil sharpener to round the ends

    • @TheBudgetAngler
      @TheBudgetAngler  4 года назад

Definitely! 😀 I've now dug one out of the pencil case! Thanks for your comments! 👍👌
