a Timeless Masterpiece!!! HOW ??? could Neil come up with THIS music for THIS film? It's counterintuitive but BRILLIANT both in the film and as a standalone piece. PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still have the 8 piece demitasse cup and saucer set from Tiffany's that Neal gave to me when I was Neely Plumb's secretary at RCA in the 60s. Although I love them, they can't compare to his music, which I find other-worldly. Such a talent we were blessed to have in our midst.
It's so good that the sitcom used selections from the movie score. Those pieces are so cool, including the instrumental intro tune. I like the movie a lot, and I friggin' adore the TV show. Shame we'll probably never see a complete and uncut version of the series on disc or streaming. So many songs were used in so many episodes, and these TV studios like CBS Paramount and such refuse to pay for the DVD rights (if Felix sings just one line of a song it got cut from the DVDs, I've been told).
Thanks for this. I listened to this album over and over as a kid. I know every word of the monologues! Love the music and the variations of the theme. Thanks again.
The original theme song had lyrics which go like this: No matter where they go/they are known as the couple They're never seen alone/so they're known as the couple As I've indicated/They are never quite separated They are peas in a pod/Don't you think that's odd? They're habits I confess/none can guess with the couple If one says no it's yes/more or less with the couple But they're laugh-provoking/yet they don't really know they're joking Don't you find when love is blind/it's kind of odd! Don't you think it's odd? Don't you think it's odd? Don't you think it's odd........
Love this! I have many soundtracks of my own, but not this one. Is it possible somehow, if I can get this entire album from you, through here or Dropbox? Thanks!
I remember circa 1975 the nerdy kid next door mentioned that “Man chases man” on the Odd Couple soundtrack was originally written for use as Batman chase scene music. I’ve since googled that but have yet to find an answer if that’s true.
Hey folks, the famous Varèse Sarabande soundtrack label just released the two legendary Neal Hefti scores "Barefoot In The Park" and "The Odd Couple" in their film versions on CD. Limited to 2000 units. www.varesesarabande.com/products/barefoot-in-the-park-the-odd-couple A great news, however the album versions (like heard here) stay unreleased on CD. In my opinion, they should have put them on a second disc to have all together. But maybe I am a bit too picky, or there were some right-issues. You never know. But I thought I am letting YOU know about the release. :-) All the best! Fred

'It took me two hours to work out that FU meant Felix Unger'.
I remember that on the show and knew it was Felix Unger but I thought they might have an underlining joke.
@@1223jamez He could have use that to his Advantage in Life.
R.I.P Felix Unger & Oscar Maddison💖 💖
My favorite line out of that entire movie.
"We are out of cornflakes. FU."

Do you have any interesting stories from your time there?

Sensational soundtrack from a fine film!
It,s even better than the version used in the great television series !
This has got to be one of the best music composed for a film that Neal Hefti has done.
Hefti and Mancini were the real great composers for this type of music for the great 1960s, Absolutely!!!!!
One of my fav movies of all time!
HEFTI = GENIUS
Great music by Neal Hefti, screenplay by Neil Simon, and Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau at their best.
RIP Neil Simon, one of the great playwrights of his time, who wrote this comedy masterpiece for the Broadway stage💐
This is actually about the music not about Neil Simon.
@@thefrankonion I understand that, but I was just paying tribute. The soundtrack's very good and recognizable
I'm a Hefti fan and this is such a wonderful Soundtrack! Thank You

Can you believe the idiots in Hollywood now? My lord.
Genius! This cycles through my mind as I ride the streets of San Francisco. Who knew that "man chases man" would feature most as I climb?
NEAL WAS THE MAN! Thanks for this.

Can't get over how much the younger Neal Hefti looked so much like William F. Buckley, Jr. :) :)

Hello! Divorced, broke and sloppy?!" -- Oscar Madison
I love that main theme. It makes me think of happy dancing skeletons.
Futurama brought me Here. Bender and Fry apartment shopping 😎
The song at 5:25 sounds like it inspired Pink Floyd.
TV series outside apartment establishing shot 8:40
Liked the movie, but Tony Randall and Jack Klugman were my favorite Felix and Oscar.
Back, to the Good Past:
U could buy a used car for a normal price,

The Life of Riley!
💯❤️
At 5:25, sounds like something Pink Floyd borrowed.
Friends brought me here!
Could you possibly get Star Spangled Girl as well, Fred? Underrated but one of my favorite Neil Simon movies.
👍👍👍
Had no clue there were lyrics!
Omg Same lol
it's time for magic
The second track reminds me of Lalo Schifrin.
The movie in 68'
This version is a tad too slow, love to hear Bassie or a Wuincy Jones arrangement.
This is begging to be sampled
cooper typeset so modern at the time...
How can I get an mp3 of this?
Can you put oscar blows up to the soundtrack
Ummmm...lyrics?
