High Point family reflects on birth of 'miracle baby' one year later

- The Troxlers gave birth to a baby girl last year. Her mother was 50. Her father is in his 60s.
A High Point mom had her first child at 50 years old. It seemed like a storyline out of a movie. Until we added this twist! Her husband was 61.
Susie and Tony Troxler's incredible baby story instantly went viral. The couple welcomed their daughter, Lily, on September 29, 2021.

As a 52-year-old grandma, I would have been such a different mom now. Many kids would benefit from older parents if we could wait this long
I was born to older parents. Taking care of one parent after graduating high school and losing the other parent before reaching 30 aren't beneficial.
Kids will never benefit from being forced to stay in the nest longer than expected (and be forced to delay the start of their own lives and getting jobs, spouses, etc) and having to help with funeral planning at the end of their 20s.

30's to 40's would be good! Therefore, you can get most of your traveling, partying, schooling, and mistakes out of the way. I'm glad I had mine young though... I always wanted to have the chance to be here to see multiple generations of my children.

I was totally shocked when I conceived at 44 and giving birth to my now 17 year old. Congratulations to you both, it’s funny how detailed and miraculous God is when he answers prayers.

The parents do look healthy and good for their age. Mom doesn't look 50 or dad 62. Long life to them.
Just because they're healthy now doesn't mean they'll be that way when she grows up. When she graduates high school, the mom will be 68 and the dad will be 80.
She’s 100% a miracle baby. She’ll become a very intelligent and amazing person
at that age a lot of them will be grandparents and they're just beginning to be parents, truly a miracle.
She is absolutely beautiful, you can’t see her and not smile , the fact that she was so wanted and loved before she got here is evident when they all smile together ❤️🎁❤️🎁❤️

It's not gonna happen. She'll be taking care of at least one of them when she graduates high school and let's hope she doesn't say goodbye to either of them before she hits 30.
When early caregiving hits and she's forced to hit the pause button on everything, she'll be wishing she was born to younger parents.
Plus, what little energy they have will fade while she's in elementary school and it'll be long gone when she graduates high school.

@@finchborat Most centennials I have met always seemed to be healthier than elderly people in their 70's and 80's. I have met many as a nurse. My grandaunt who lived past 100 was also healthier than people 20 yrs younger than her. It's very possible this couple can be healthy also especially if they have faith in God.

@finchb Well if you read, I said it is very possible they can be healthy. Growing old doesn't automatically equal disease for those who take care of themselves.

They are so lucky, and at 50 the baby mother looks so good. Loving husband and wife and God pitched in. God is good all the time.

That happiness will fade when she's taking care of one of them after graduating college or even high school. And what little happiness survives early caregiving will be wiped out when she loses them sooner than kids her own age.
@@finchborat You don’t know that. They could live for another 50 years for all you know. Some people are lucky enough to live to be over 100. Why does there always have to be people like you that try to bring the mood down for no reason?
@@lysie9524 I'm speaking from personal experience. Plus, if her dad makes it to 100, she'll be 38. That's a little early to lose a parent.
@@finchborat My parents were both dead by the time I was 23. They became parents in their 30s. Age doesn’t always matter. Your experience won’t necessarily be hers.

My experience will be hers.
She has added so much colour, life and vigour to her parents' life. I also hope they don't forget to include the dog in the activities. He looks a little left out. 😁

Great to see such happiness in being parents. Baby Lily looks someone copied her dad's face and pasted it on to her. He is so happy to have a child that he is singing "It's diaper changing time." Sending up a prayer that every child born can be so loved by someone. Great to see such happiness.

I work for American Red Cross as a phlebotomist and when we do histories when donors come in to donate blood to save lives and when it's women we ask their age and we have to ask if they had any children or if they're pregnant or if they're pregnancy was completed greater than 6 weeks ago and they always laugh and I'm just like you know what Janet Jackson had a baby at 50 now the brat is having a baby at 48 and this lovely couple it's not unheard of
