VIVALDI: Concerto for Violin, Strings & Continuo in C Major, RV 170: I. Presto

One last sneak peek from our upcoming album-this time, it’s the Presto from Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in C major, RV 170, and it’s a fast one!
Composed in the 1710s, the concerto survives in a manuscript copied by Johann Georg Pisendel around 1716-1717, possibly from when he was studying with Vivaldi in Venice 🇮🇹
The hint of polyphonic writing in the Presto suggests it might have been written for the students of the Ospedale della Pietà, where Vivaldi trained some of the best young violinists of the day 💪
So if it sounds tricky, that’s because it was probably meant to be! 😆
