Happy birthday Liam. I had a case of gout about 10-12 years ago, and was very fortunate that the medication helped me tremendously and haven’t had any issues with it since.
I had gout on a regular basis about every 4-6 months. I was always heavy, around 300 pounds. Eight years ago at the age of 62 I found the plant based whole food concept. I started following this way of eating and have not had a bout of gout since! Along with eliminating gout I lost 100 pounds, eliminated GERD, healed many sore joints and ended up reducing my food bill by over 80%. But eliminating gout was an absolute Godsend.
Spot on. Gout only exists because of too much Uric Acid and the only way to fix it permanently is by changing your diet to an alkaline diet. Plant based is better, lots of water. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, tea.
Don't drink water when you eat drink it before or a good 1/2 hour after and preferably a touch of Celtic Salt on the tongue so the hydration reaches the inner part of the cells. I am no doctor but I know changing what you eat has the biggest impact on your health. Check out Barbara ONeil's videos on RUclips, she absolutely is on the right track.

I think that gout will, in the future, be treated as an indicator for other ailments like diabetes and heart disease. The uric acid production is the marker.
I also suffered with a bout its so painful, changed my diet and made sure to drink lots of water it seems to work. the change of Diet was not radical just avoided certain food stuffs, cut down but not eliminate red meat, cut down beer (gin went up) and changed to cherry jam instead of marmalade! recently had a test the acid is a little high but I am not suffering. I got to learn when there is an impending bout so I can readjust the diet

And I had to laugh at something eBay said early in the video which I'm sure was missed by a lot of people. It was when he said it's 'dead sheep'..... meaning it's 'still you(ewe)'...brilliant...

Happy Birthday Liam and keep 'em coming every year. I had several severe cases of gout about 15 years ago and was put on a regiment of Febuxostat/Uloric 40mg Tablets. I have not had gout. There is some question now as to how safe the drug is but I have not had any obvious ill effects. Best of luck with getting rid of the gout, I know how bad it hurts.

Well done Pete great effort, many happy returns Liam and welcome to "gout mates" so I had the dam thing limped through like you had no laces in my right shoe, but so much reliance on my left knee strained a tendon, doc called it a defence injury, so last round gout gone, multi strap knee brace and my usual aluminium reinforced lower back support, think you can remember the six million dollar man, I'm the thirty quid strap and neoprene guy😊

Happy Birthday! Not sure if you will see this, but I had help with the gout from a good chiropractor here in the states. The first adjustment will be the dickens, but it will feel so much better.

Liam...some advice for playing golf with a "Four Flare up." Mine was always in my left foot, which made it difficult to follow thru with my swing....but...my golf pro taught me to keep my lower body still when hitting the ball...and he taught me to hit my woods out of a fairway bunker. You keep your lower body still, so you won't slide in the fairway bunker, because most Municipal Golf courses don't put a lot of sand in fairway bunkers. Like when you were in Dubai...and in the "Lebanese Lawn"... you use your upper body strength because if you use your lower body you will slide around in the sand.
After learning that way to hit the ball....I never went back to the standard way. It protected my bad leg, kept the Gout from torturing my knee and foot...and I hit the ball 260-270 yards off the tee almost all the time.
That should say, Gout Flare Up...not Four Flare Up...dang RUclips!!!!

Poor Liam, i really feel your pain. My last bout of gout was last May and my lovely wife made me play 36 holes of golf for 4 days in a row on Brora ( happiness course in the world). The cure for my gout was the near artic water of the north sea she also made me walk in each morning. Really hope you get better. All the best from Edinburgh

You have my sympathy and empathy Liam. I had my first bout of gout ever, the day after (thank god) I golfed Pebble Beach. I thought I had broken a bone in my foot. I had to wait 2 days until I flew home to Canada to see a Dr. Ouch!!!
