I'm American learning French and it honestly isn't that hard. The only hard part is pronunciation because the teacher doesn't teach us how to move our mouths so we can produce a French accent and we certainly don't practice. The only time we focus on pronunciation is when we take an oral assessment and as long as the accent has effort we will get a good grade. It is very easy to memorize vocabulary because so much of it is similar to English. There are some annoying grammar rules though.
