Oh My... that's what you call a large gap? gonna need a much bigger gap video, Like one w/ a 1" gap maybe even a 2" gap!! Much appreciated!! Hope to see one SOON!!
THATS WHAT I SAID. I NEED TO FILL A REAL GAP.
You got it!
What's the exact brand you used on this video?
I honestly don't know why you guys have so low viewers, you guys are epic man, so clear, to the point, keep it up!
Much appreciated!
Thanks, bud. Appreciate your sharing your expertise with us. God bless.
Glad you liked it thanks
If you have gaps in woodwork you intend to stain, the best filler is wood glue mixed with sawdust as such a mixture will harden and fill the gap and the sawdust will accept your stain perfectly.
This is exactly what a guy did that ruined my floors. The glue prevents stain. Sorry.
@@bonniehuseby5915 Bonnie, I'm sorry you had this problem. I failed to mention you add stain to the glue/sawdust slurry while mixing. If you allow the glue to harden before staining you are correct in saying it will not stain.
The glue/sawdust method works best with darker species in my experience. Not a great fix for pine, oak, maple, etc.
@@thomasbeatty9496thank you 👍
Great idea to use the tape. Thanks for the tip.
Well done! Thank you!
Thank you!
Simple thanks
You're welcome!
Would this work you think around a toiler when I have put down a new vinyl floor but i really need to fill in those areas around the toliet
I would use silicone at the base of the toilet
What can I use for stained trim?
Purchase a stainable wood filler of similar colour to the type of wood you are working with.
Thanks for watching good luck
Internal mitres should be scribed to avoid the gap.
You should use mitre bond for external mitres ( everbuild mitre fast is the stuff I just used it sets in ten seconds like magic) and you get perfect mitres it works great for around the doors as well then there are no gaps to fill then just scribe the internals
Btw I am no expert but that is the way the experts do it these days it creates perfection! Very impressed with my results
How about gaps between bottom of baseboard and hardwood floor? My old house has somewhat uneven floors and there's a gap up 1/4" in spots.
Your best bet would be to use a second piece of trim/moulding like quarter round or similar. Good luck!
How would you fix chipped paint coming off siding of bottom window panel?
Same procedure you can wood fill the hole, sand it flat than paint it
I have crown molding on the entire first floor. It has gaps not only at joints but separation gaps on ceiling side as well as wall side. Should I remove anything in the gaps and use wood filler? Also joint gaps this is where I would use the wood filler correct? Thank you. Just subscribed.
Thanks for the sub! I would use wood filler in the joints between the between pieces only. At the joint where it abuts the ceiling and wall use caulking. We have another video on caulking baseboards but the same concept applies to the crown… caulk it, spread it, wipe with a wet cloth and spread again with your finger to finish it
I do it in the top as well? We got a old house and it in the winter the ladybug 🐞 Come in from that gaps.
In this video what is used for sanding?
Just 120/220 grit sand paper
What is the product you used
It’s a lepage wood filler product. Thanks for watching
Can you use on bathroom or kitchen cabinets?
You could yes you would have trouble matching the cabinet colour/finish though unless you painted the whole thing
What it is the name of the product you used?
I used a lepage product. Thanks for watching… any quality wood filler will
Do though
@@DIYDudes umm I'm pretty sure you are showing an Elmer's product in your video not a Lepage product, am I seeing things??
How about the top of the baseboard that has come away from the wall? It is stained, not painted
Tough if it’s stained you’re beat bet is to get a close matching caulk or stainable wood filler and stain to matchb
Can you do this with a 1cm gap?
Sure!
Can you just use putty? There’s flexible putty.
I’m not sure what product your talking about exactly but as long assent to be used as a wood filler it’s probably fine
Why no pics of the results?
It turned out terrible so we cut that part out… lol jk
@@DIYDudes 🤣🤣🤣😁😁😁 I really wasn't implying it. Was a great video and I wanted to see the results is all. Appreciate it as this helped me.
Painters caulk just as good
I’ll have to try it thanks for the tip!
Indeed: this is the sort of job it's for.
what about condo ?
What do you mean?
@@DIYDudes I meant bondo, typo
Shrinkage 🤔
yes thick caulking will flex and shrink over time..... its not just a pool problem!
Why are you rounding the corner when sanding?
Huh?
🤔
Just to take the sharp 90 off. Thanks for watching!
Use DAP sparkling. Your work looks unprofessional.
DAP spackling does work well, but I find wood filler like we used is stronger and more crack resistant, trim work was builders trim that we just reinstalled but you are right I am not a professional, just a diy dude
I enjoy the DIY tips! Many of us are extremely happy wiyh how well you show us how to tackle problems like this! It looks great, and saves money!
@@shelleylard2399 thanks for the vote of confidence Shelly!
@@nothingbutthebest3051 spackling is not suitable for this application as it is primarily composed of gypsum and glue and is intended for use in drywall. Wood filler is the way to go here. It will be longer lasting and less prone to shrinkage and cracking.
What wood filler did you use????
Would you please consider losing the background music? I find it irritating and a distraction.
