RUclips needs more videos like this. So many sewing/crafting channels do things that are just pretty looking but not terribly functional. Kudos to you, sir.
tip for using rivets on canvas: use an awl to make the hole for the rivets, if you use a punch it severs the fibers of the woven canvas making more prone to falling apart prematurely. nice bag though, your videos were extremely helpful for me when I was getting into leatherwork.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I’m brand new to leather work, though I’ve been sewing for years. I’ve subscribed and I can’t wait to binge watch and literally take notes. 😃
VERY nice. You make it doable for anyone with a machine and a few simple tools. You are correct, even the inexpensive "brother" machines will sew an occasional project of canvas or light weight leather with the right thread and a denim needle when operated properly.
Some lovely design intricacies in this ! I can see that the side(s) need a design to break them up visually, and the acorn motif is a great way of doing that ! Maybe there are various methods of providing a way of closing the top if required, such as a drawstring through eyelets or a zip ? A very clear set of procedural instructions that you have provided here, as always a perfectly produced film in every way ! Thank you for that ! People will have no problems making one after this - if only there were 96 hours in a day - so many good ways to spend the time !
I made a tote bag like yours for the hot springs outings. I lined, put pockets in it. A couple seen and bought it on the spot. These should sell great Nice Harry. I always look at backgrounds, but U conveniently covered yours up🤔
The handles are such a perfect size and proportion for this size bag. Which leather type and thickness did you use ?.. Sorry to ask so many questions... I have been making my way through your videos... Some great info.. Thank you
Harry, I absolutely love your videos and the time you share with others. Could you please tell me how to get started with leather? I live in the US, and am not sure where to buy leather, or what type of leather to buy...like the straps you used for this canvas bag. Thank you kindly.
Hi Rose...you could do a lot worse than take a look at Weaver Leather, District Leather Supply or Wicket and Craig....they will all be able to help you....with Leather....and probably with tools as well..if you want a really cheap tool set to get started there are plenty on Amazon and EBay, but the likes of Weaver will have better quality I believe.
Hello, Can any tell me where is the best place to buy leather for making wallets and other small items.. Some where that's a good price..I'm in the uk. Thank you
Really nice Harry as usual! Like the copper alot > What is the weight on the canvas if you don't mind. I like the raised edge on you work bunch, somthing to press against ?
Thank you for making this tutorial. I hadn't thought of doing that thing you did for the bottom.
It's a really good way to make boxed corners, I will be trying this!
Great video! Thank you! Making myself some reusable shopping bags with this pattern!

Thanks for explaining the corners. I've been hesitating about making a bag, the bottom corners had me confused.
Thanks again Harry, made few of these now out of leather, tweaked the design a bit just to make them a bit different.
As always, thank you sir for sharing excellent ideas/tips with the world.
Thanks Scott

Looks like canvas would be a good test or trial run for making a leather bag. Do you ever do that to see if a new pattern works? Cheers from Canada.
Hi Rob, yes it is a very good method to check on size and seams etc. Rgds Harry
Hello Harry, are those silver pens you use for marking... do they disappear with water? If so, did you get them on Amazon?
Hi these don't...but some you can get a marker pen with them that does make the silver disappear...and yes Amazon usually has them.
Many thanks for the tutorial 😀 what size edging bevel do you use on the handle?
A number 2 is good...i.e. smaller size.
Cool! I would love to have ago at making stuff like this. how long did this take to make?

Have you ever had fraying issuies since the edges are binded?
Hi no but maybe because I do double seam.
Inches? How did you get imperial measurements across the ocean?!
I grew up with inches...It's metric in schools now.
Thanks buddy 😊👍
Hi Harry, where do you get your canvas from? Thank you
That lot came from Profabrics.
Great videos Harry, Hope you don't me asking, where did you source your hand operated clicker press, do they have a UK rep? Cheers Noel
Hi Noel, I ordered if from a Weaver distributor in France, and it saved a stack in shipping, and they were very good...it was Logis des Cordes.
