    I made 3 of these. Handling is not affected by being pushed by the seatpost. The hitch pivots up and down and sideways. It's made like a u-joint that doesn't rotate. That's what kéeps it vertical on one wheel.
    It's better by far than the ways others and I have motorized bicycles, IMO. You can use a much larger engine than you can fit on a bike. My latest is a 5.9 hp Robin-Subaru and I'm sure I could go larger if I had a good reason.
    You can take it on & off and attach it to different bikes.
    The noise, exhaust, chain oil & gas fumes are far behind you. The curve or bends in the tongue absorb the single cylinder vibrations and doesn't interfere with a fender. You can also add a mudguard on the frame in front of the engine.
    It's easy to build with common materials without welding.
    The small tire, with only engine weight on it, needs only enough air pressure to keep the bead sealed. It absorbs bumps better, still looks full and shows no wear after êxtensive use. Quiet it, disguise it right and no one has to know you are motorized.
    I might modify my latest pusher to carry a full campsite and be a bike bum once in awhile.
    I'm considering options for a pusher with the small Kubota single cylinder diêsel, electric start engine with an alternator that was recently gifted to me. It's heavy, so I'll need to rig up a brake on the trailer wheel; maybe a "butt brake".

    It's the coolest pusher I have seen. It's simplicity is what I need to push my mobility trike to save batteries and long range. It's been a very long time but do you have any left? Just parted? I'll stay in touch.

    I appreciate its simplicity and yet it does exactly what its supposed to do, no more, no less. A pat on the back and two atta boys. I wish you would do a more in depth build explanation and explain 10 years later any likes, dislikes and improvements made over the years if you still use the 2 you made?

    Great idea. I am going to apologized ahead of time for the rather trollish comment I am about to leave. "All I can think about is the Power Push Sport enema that a rider would receive if in a slim chance that pusher connection ever failed behind the bicycle seat" Again! Great Idea!

    I just built my first mono-wheel bike trailer for a friend now I see this thing.
    I just happen to have everything to build this using a 100 cc 4 stroke overhead valve engine.
    Geared right it should clip along around 50 and max out at 60
    I also have an eighty cc home-lite chain saw but it's way too loud for a nice ride on the country.
    Anyway Thanks a bunch

    I love it. If I had access to a welder, pipe bender, etc., I'd build one. I do have one question. I suppose you would have to be going fast enough for it to be a problem, but have you had any issues while taking a curve, hitting a bump and the motor swinging out of line? I saw a video on a similar pusher engine quite some time ago, but he never answered my question.

    usually good bike trailers have the hitch near the rear axel, not at the seat post, since if you turn the front wheel while braking, seat post attached trailers tend to push the bike over on its side since the attachment point is up high and has leverage to topple the bike. the powered trailer would be the same. I can't figure out the subtle difference here with this one since it is at least temporarily welded at the seat post, which may prevent it from jackknifing. I still wonder though.

    • @denbecr49
      @denbecr49 3 года назад

      The hitch hinges hôrizontally and vertically, but not tortionally. It works like a restricted u-joint. I bolted mine to the seatpost successfully, but he welded his on.
      My latest has 5.9 hp and handles beautifully in every way. Just like any motor vehicle, you let off the gas when you use the brakes. Compression braking kéeps the trailer from pushing you over. You are going slowly through a U-turn with nearly no throttle when the angle gets acute. Putting a brake on the pusher's wheel couldn't hurt, but I have seen no need so far on mine.

      The tire wears very quickly on all friction drive bikes and they slip when wet. Otherwise it would be a fine solution, êxcept vibration spoils the image in your mirror and the headlight bulbs fail early.

  • @panzerwolf494
    @panzerwolf494 11 лет назад

    This looks like something that would only be good on perfectly level roads in perfect weather. Anything that creates a bend either lifts the rear wheel and stresses the drive wheel, or lifts the drive wheel and allows it to swing loose. The spray from the back wheel would be the next issue, I think, in bad weather and even good weather on dusty streets

    • @denbecr49
      @denbecr49 3 года назад

      I built one of thếse. I spliced together 2 bicycle gearshift cables and zip tied the cables to the tongue on both sides of the splice. The splice was a bolt drilled through just under the head. I passed both cables through and tightened a washer and nut tight.
      That was before I discovered bike shops carry long cables for tandems!
