    Thanks. I just did the timing belt on my sister's 2007 Sante Fe. A warning for those who live in areas where road salt is used, the oil pans rust out. If you put a block of wood on it for support, it might give out. The one I did was very rusty, so I ordered a pan ahead of time.

    Jim, I just did this job. I can’t thank you enough for your guidance. Turns out, a few years back when the engine died on my 06 Santa Fe my mechanic replaced the engine with a 2007. Today, as my dad taught me, I counted the teeth on the original belt and compared to the replacement. 2006 engines have 209 teeth. Mine had 219 teeth so I knew something was wrong. I discussed with my local auto parts store and figured out the year discrepancy. I followed your direction exactly and she fired right up running smooth as a sewing machine. I am truly greatful for your excellent video. I also used your video for the rear three spark plugs involving removing the intake manifold and it was truly priceless. Keep up the great work. I am so happy to have the car running great, thanks for your help!

    Should have changed the water pump at the same time, or at least mention to everyone that it should be done. If it goes later, this same job has to be done again.

    My .02 is to replace the water pump while you’ve got it apart. I believe it is recommended to do it at the same time.

    Great video! However I missed from 22:00 to 23:06 (camera is not in the line-of-sight of the engine mount), where the 2nd halve of the motor mount was taken off. Also, was any thought given to replacing the water pump since Hyundai decided to connect it to the timing belt? In addition, my belt tensioner failed causing the belt to jump the camshaft gears; can I just manually align the camshaft to the alignment marks? One more thing; the same section where you removed the engine mount: wished I knew how you removed the second part of the motor mount w/o removing the power steering pump from its mount? Thanks!

    At about 8:14 into your video you jestured to a motor mount. The motor mount I'm attempting to remove is stuck although i have removed all of the bolts and I have supported the engine with a jack. What else ahould I do?

    I'm so confused. Can someone help me please? If the crank shaft wheel or sprockets/pulleys are NOT being removed (only timing belt is being changed) then WHY does top dead center need to be aligned PRIOR to taking off the belt? Anyone?

    How much this repair usually cost?. MY hyundai rattles way to much when running. Feels like something is going to snap inside the engine.

    Is this the same procedure for (2001-2006) Hyundai Santa Fe , or are there differences? I can't find any detailed timing belt replacement videos (2001-2006) Hyundai Santa Fe

    I compressed my tensioner horizontally not knowing any better. Is it going to mess up the tensioner?

    • @jimthecarguy
      @jimthecarguy  2 года назад

      You should be ok. It is just easier to compress vertically.

    Nobody explains it more eruditely than him. And he kept repeating that “make sure those timing marks are lined up” constantly. Knowing that if you fail to do so, everything crumbles.
