RUclips has everything!!!! I spent $70 on 2 sets of scrubs and a scrub jacket; the tops all had the job monogram on it. Well, the job didn't work out and I was going to take them to the seamstress in the neighborhood to see if she could get the monogram off. Well, found this video, worked perfectly!
I love RUclips for that reason. Did you put your own monogram on? It’s been 7 months so I guess you got it taken care of by now. I could put a new one on for you for free if you don’t have a machine. I live on the east coast 🇺🇸
Thank youu! I thrifted a vintage jacket that had someone’s initials on it, which I usually dont mind, but these initials just happen to be BJ 💀 I wanted to remove that asap lol
Thank you for taking the time to make this video!!! It gave me confidence to remove a logo from a sweatshirt, and following your method worked perfectly!
I'm glad it was helpful! I used it to remove embroidery from my PCT scrub jacket last week. Hopefully, I won't need to do it once I start my RN position.
Nice video. I've just gotten rid of a couple of patches on a nice looking, warm jacket from a paratransit company. Now, it looks like a nice looking, warm, regular jacket. Thanks for the idea in this video!
What about when it has a piece of cloth between the back of the embroidery and the inside of shirt itself? I have some really nice/expensive scrubs from an old job and I really want to get their logo out without ruining the top. But the embroidery has this cut out piece of white cloth. I’m no seamstress so I don’t know what it’s called. Anything to save these scrubs haha
This is just what I was looking for I have some shirts from my former job, I really liked and didn’t want to throw Them away. Also is there away to just get a new patch with designs and just cover the old embroidery?
It would depend on the size of the embroidery you want to cover, if it's about the same size of the new one, it would be too thich and would show. Otherwise, if it is a very small embroidery you want to cover with a bigger one, you could use a patch - a pre made embroidery that you could just "glue" (usually they're heat activated) or sew above it. If you want to embroider directly above the fabric, it would be better to take off the old embroidery.
Very helpful thank you! I figured out that this also works on embroidery designs where the satin stitching is on both sides (e.g. you can’t see the bobbin stitching but a razor still works just fine to cut up all the satin stitching on the back) Also if you working with average shirt or thinner fabric, be very careful with the razor bc it’s easier than you think to cut a hole in the fabric. Learned this the hard way even though I thought I was being careful 😅
I bought a lint remover . Electric Hairball Trimmer . This help out at all ? Instead of using tweezers . I have lot of shirts and jacks like to do this to. Will dry cleaners do this type of work? Nice job. Thank you
I have a very nice older Harley heavy jacket made from cowhide my dad gave me and it has a faded out old harley patch on the rear of the jacket and unfortunately it's not sewn like your patches are, it didn't go through the lining so I can't do the procedure like you did. It's looks like the only way to remove it would be to do it on the leather. Do you know if there's a way to do it without damaging the leather to bad? I know it may leave some tiny holes but I have some leather filler that can go in the spots and we can use some black dye on it.
They probably removed the lining when they put the patch on, or it was sewn on before the lining. I would be worried about damaging the leather. I'd try taking it to a shoe repair shop because they usually also do leatherwork. Most shops will at least tell you if it can be done and give you an estimate.
I got this really nice rain jacket from work that’s like a waterproof polyester type material. Eventually when I quit this job I still want to wear this jacket since I get to keep it but I really hate the big ugly (like slightly larger than the diameter of a golf ball) solid embroidered logo. I’m worried that with the material, that if I remove the embroidery it will cause the jacket to be full of holes in that area since it’s such a dense embroidery design. Do you think that kind of material would do that? My other thought is maybe getting some black fabric dye and dying over the embroidery to try to hide it best I can since it’s a white and lime green design.
I have removed embroidered #'s from my sons soccer pants and I can still see the pattern of the number post removal, is there a way to remove this? it has already been washed 2xs and is still visible..TIA
I don't have a razer at hand. So I used a sharp knife to carefully cut the threads on its back, so reach the same effect. Then pull the thread at front side. The difficult one was the small characters. But anyways, used your idea and done the job. Thanks.
I'm contemplating buying my oldest sister a beautiful pre-loved Mink coat for Christmas but has an embroidered name already inside. The inside satin will more than likely be sewn at the bottom so there will be no underside access. How then would this work to remove the old name? Thanks
Hi! On a waterproof jacket would this leave little holes at all? I have one with my work logo on I am hoping to remove but don't want to cause any holes in the jacket as it is waterproof!
Does anyone know where I may find a patch that doesn’t look crazy to cover a monogram on boots I paid a pretty price for for my daughter who doesn’t like them. Wanting to hand them down to my friends daughter.
I'd use a razor and only work from the backside. Nylon isn't super forgiving so you may see some small holes. Most will close up after washing but they may not all.
It depends on the fabric. I usually wipe the area with a damp cloth and let it dry to see if that helps. As I mention in the video it can take several washes for the marks to go away and sometimes they don't go away. It often depends on how long the embroidery design was on the fabric and the type of fabric.
Not everything everybody’s taking off the embroidery from the back, I have to take the embroidery off from the front because it’s my sons racing suit is insulated inside And I can’t get to from the back side. It’s a fire suit no I don’t want to be pulling it apart and sewing it back together
I want to try and remove the words off my Nike sweatshirts to say Nike but I want to leave the swoosh and just have that with no words What is your advice for me to attack this in the best way
I really really REALLY regret using the razor method. It caused an absolute mess and there was fuzz all over the place. Plus it made it harder to find the thread because of all of the fuzz.
I want to get a jumpsuit for my sons birthday and it has three patches on it that i don’t want on there, but i’m scared its gonna be shown. /: And i hate the placement of the patches
Wanna sleep up the process? Drop the razor, get a cheap 1$ cuticle trimmer you use on your nails!!! Sails RIGHT through all the bobbin stickers on the backside. 😎👉👉

It does work on most fabrics but it may leave needle marks behind on or in older garments the fabric underneath may be darker because it hasn't been exposed.

You are a lifesaver! We just removed an embroidery from a bag. Thank you so much for this video!
Glad I could help!

Thank you for being straight to the task at hand. I hate when people give their whole life story on tutorial videos.
Thank you for the video! The razor on the back was a great tip and got me further than I was gonna get with just the ripper.
Thank you! I was able to do it without any issue . The razor is a must !!!

Thank you so much for the video, my removal process was as easy. As you made it.
Thanks. I did remove it from my new jacket. I just followed your technique.
Thanks for this! Would this same process work on an NBA jersey made of a 100% polyester mesh body?
Would it matter if the material was a sateen like Starter jacket ? Would that make the holes easier to see?
Yes, some fabrics like sateen are more likely to snag or leave stitch holes behind.

I have removed embroidered #'s from my sons soccer pants and I can still see the pattern of the number post removal, is there a way to remove this? it has already been washed 2xs and is still visible..TIA
I need help with this also ! I feel like I made it worse.
The backside of my embroidered shirt has a mesh like ironed on patch over the embroidery. Any way to easily break through this?
Hi
I have a safari type vest with an embroidery on it and to me it doesn’t look good. Do you think the holes will disappear?
If any small holes are left behind, they usually shrink away after several washes.
Awesome, just wished it was zoomed in a bit.
Nice how long did that take?
This is perfect, doing it to a work jacket too.
That is exactly what I am doing as well, I don't want to be reminded of my work but really like the sweater jacket I received
If I do this process on a rain jacket/wind breaker will it leave visible holes? Just checked the tag and it is 100% Nylon
I'm not. Nylon is picky and not very forgiving. It tends to snag, and pucker and doesn't recover well when removing stitches from hems and such.
@@LetsLearnToSew thank you!
Hii, I removed the embroidery but it left a stain or mark on my thrifted denim jacket, is there a way to remove that? Thank you.
sometimes a little stain remover can help, and after a few washes, it may fade away. It really depends on the fabric.
I don't have a razer at hand. So I used a sharp knife to carefully cut the threads on its back, so reach the same effect. Then pull the thread at front side. The difficult one was the small characters. But anyways, used your idea and done the job. Thanks.

Hi! On a waterproof jacket would this leave little holes at all? I have one with my work logo on I am hoping to remove but don't want to cause any holes in the jacket as it is waterproof!
It will leave tiny holes that could let water in. You can buy waterproofing at local craft stores and online to prevent that.
Let's Learn To Sew would a few coats of scotch guard work to waterproof it? I’m in the same boat as Jodi.
@@portcityengineering This product would work: amzn.to/2MmtNlW

I don’t have a seam ripper does someone know what object can replace it ?
Could a tailor that puts embroidery on use the same machine to unstitch it, perhaps with better results?

How does sateen get made? And where can i find it and how can i get anything off?

Will you be able tell where an embroidery was removed on a white collard button down shirt? Is the area noticeable?
Sometimes you can but after a few washes it isn't too bad.
I tried this on a knit and it worked but I left a hole in the fabric :(
Does this work for embroidery on denim?
Yes, it does.
Do you use a special razor or can I use a plastic disposable razor?
You can use any type of razor.
