If you’d like to hear « heavy Steve », Machine Messiah on the Drama is a fabulous song. You are right : Steve has such a broad vocabulary. His second solo album (where he luckily doesn’t sing much), displays it well

Saw YES about 20 times from 70s. Honestly the best concert I ever saw, musically, was the Union tour. The amount of talent on that one stage was insane. Howe and Rabin trading licks. Jon Anderson sang Amazingly Grace. Tony Kaye stayed on stage and just watched Wakemans solo.

@@garysteinert8040 have you seen the reactions he did to a couple live songs from the Union tour? He loved both of them. Rabin shredding and Howe doing what Howe does. You should find the videos on here if you haven't seen them...

Despite not writing songs with radio in mind, Yes became an FM staple in the '70s. The lead single from the album, “Wonderous Stories” also was a big hit in the UK. It was an odd choice for a single, because the two most immediately arresting tracks on the album are “Parallels,” and “Going for the One.” - Produce Like a Pro

Another treasure..those ascending harmonies! Glad for the prop.s to Steve ( I missed him on the solo efforts). I'm still amazed he's self taught! Keying on the musical composition for sure, but how Jon conveys such depth with seemingly abstract lyrics!! i.e. "In the giving of my eyes to see your face....Sound did silence me....Leaving no trace."

Yep, so called experts put out lists of 'best' guitarists but I like to think of iconic guitarists, where they are individually recognisable. Steve Howe is one of those plus his lead work is among the hardest to play and to replicate.

Back in the day when I was a talk radio host, my cohost and I used this song as one of our pieces of rejoiner music coming out of commercials. I absolutely loved hearing it every weekday for several years. I still love hearing it today.

A good song live, definitely a nice change of pace during the show. I like it a lot, but it generally does not make my playlists, which are usually designed for cycling, working out, or doing yard work. Can't have this subtly beautiful stuff when I'm in that mode.

I know -- poor Alan White! 😄 The reason this is the most played on Spotify is cuz it has been used in at least one TV commercial. And it's short. Re: Jon, this is when he started wearing all white on stage almost exclusively. I already mentioned the radio DJ who said that once while she was watching a Yes concert, she expected wings to sprout from Jon's back and for him to ascend to heaven, playing his little harp. 😄

Question and it may seem weird but here goes. I have all of the 70's Yes albums and a bunch of their solo albums also but some I have had since they came out and never listened to them lol. I guess 40 plus years ago I just had to have them but never spun them on the turntable. I have The Steve Howe Album from 79' and never listened to it. Have you heard it and what's your opinion if you have? I was thinking of sending it to Justin with some other stuff since he loves Cowboy Steve so much...

The Cassette for this album was the first one I bought that had the "new and improved" Dolby C noise reduction. It was a big step forward from Dolby B but of course, cd's changed everything. The vynil version is one of about 20 that I still have from back in the day. I sold the other 50 or so I had to fund special projects like food, gas, a tire for my car, etc. Ah, to be young again. Music like this helped me get by. One more to go!🙂

Yes I'd say it's synced with the record version (or CD). I'm very familiar with this and it sounds identical to this. This is some of my Friday's gettin' off a work music. At this point you're going to get Bill on the drums. I don't think there is drums in this one, percussion perhaps.

Cowboy Steve and Hippie Jon! That writing team are responsible for some of the greatest Yes masterpieces, including the next track, "Awaken". Another fabulous reaction, Justin. It seems like you are becoming a Yes fan.

I'm beginning to think he likes Yes more than Rush especially each bands "sweet spot" so to speak. Rush 76' - 85' and Yes 71' - where he is now in the discography. He liked the first two Yes albums enough but since Steve came aboard there is barely a track he doesn't like...

Liked your Steve Howe Tribute, my favorite guitarist, in my favorite band. Drama, I consider classic YES, even though Jon is not on that album. Musically, it's YES. But when Steve was not a member of YES, you see the different direction they took, I am not a fan. It will be interesting to see your reactions. Another great reaction here, peace,
