Maru is having a great time vs Zerg players but always a very difficult match up against Serral. Serral with all of his master mind builds just completely caught Maru off guard, but somehow he cannot do the same to Clem. I guess at the highest level, the match up is more important than the skill level sometimes.

Game 3 just wow. Serral had vipers out before Maru had finished combat shield and an ultra cavern before Maru even finished 1/1! I dont know when i saw the last time a zerg teched up that fast!

@0:45 uhhhh did ya'll forget Serral vs Maru in the 2022 Katowice quarterfinals? There's also WESG 2017 semifinal, although you could argue that was less hype cause Serral didn't hit his prime until 2018. Regardless, this isn't even close to their highest stakes match. Still hype though, no need to be hyperbolic by calling it their biggest ever meeting.
Man, I envisioned similar creep spread a few months back right when "Eric's build" came back into style. I did it every game with z nonstop in SC BW, but just the hatchery onviously

in game 2 maru lost the CC from burning, he didnt repair so he had very little income thats why he GG'd
@@hungpo454 the CC burned down as he was dropping and picking that 1 marauder for like a minute, if you pay attention on the minimap you will see the moment the CC getting destroyed while he still picking and dropping the marauder.
Year with that micro he hurt himself more than Serral. I think at this point Maru might have a mental block when it comes to Serral. When was the last time he won a series? 2017 someone recently told me?@@garryarganis5801

Great casting, but you should put a R18+ warning at the start, kids should not watch such savagery.
btw, Serral vs Maru must be the easiest outcome to predict in the history of the game. For Maru to win, Serral must play below 50% (1 hand behind his back and limited on what units he can build), and even that's highly debatable. Another easy stomp from Serral.

Well Maru destroyed Clem in this tourny. But I dont think that you can say that because of a few games. Sometimes a player just has another players number. Serral struggles a lot vs Reynor, while Reynor struggles vs opponents that cant touch Serral. You have to take the overall picture into consideration.
Clem's TvZ, mindset and style of play just fits better against Serral imo.
No one says Serral is the fastest player or has the greatest offense or defense.
He’s probably just too smart for players such as Maru.

Serral is just more brilliant in his decision making, which is why he has been the greatest player over the last half decade.

Best player in the world since 2017 - but other players are usually mentioned in “best of” conversations - not Serral.
Trust me, if you’ve ever watched a GSL, their casters have never mentioned Serral as the “best of” anything.
Serral is the most consistent. Personally, I think Clem is the fastest. Serral can also have bursts to match Clem, but not for long. However, Serral makes the least mistakes, and dominance in SC2 is about consistency throughout the entire career.
@@igit_7296 Koreans are just living in the past thinking they are still the best at Starcraft 2. Even their GSL series is called "Global Starcraft League" despite almost only including Korean players. Now admittedly they might have the most good players from any individual country, but they would no longer be crushing South Korea vs. Rest of the World competitions like they used to. Not when there are non-Korean players like Serral, Reynor and Clem. Or even MaxPax, ShowTime and HeroMarine.
It's pretty clear from any statistical point of view that Serral has been the strongest Starcraft 2 player for the past five years, and at this point has had the longest reign at the top of any player in the game. However, it's also pretty clear that there are players who succeed at some areas of the game better than Serral. Like Reynor and Clem are slightly faster players and there are players like Rogue and Dark who tend to excel at ZvZ early game / cheese better than Serral. But there are clearly no other player who would match Serral in overall ability on all match ups and stages of the game, which leads to his impressive consistency year after year. Top of Aligulac for 5 years straight, most premier tournament wins, two world championships, most prize money earned and by far the best win percentages of any top player in every zerg match up on professional games. GOAT of Starcraft 2 and at this point it's hardly even a debate.

Or how did one user put it when Serral destroyed Maru a few month ago: "Serral makes Maru look like somebody I could beat"
There always is discussion who is the GOAT.
Sorry - if one of the candidates DESTROYES the other again and again and again, there is no question about who is the GOAT.
And Serral is demolishing Maru - what is his winrate? 80%? 90%? It borders on absurd how "easily" Serral dismantles Maru.

Give bane like no hp for the love of fun. The big sack of acid that only hurts enemy units and can be manually detonated and target.

Your gambling with widow mines. Zergs have to many options with no friendly fire
FF is comparable to self-destruct, however. Mines have scenarios where FF is not an issue (e.g. behind mineral lines), and FF can be minimized by skill, whereas banelings ALWAYS must self-destruct to do any damage, and unlike mines, banes have no bonus double damage to single-targets.
It seems like maru loosing a grip.

If Maru is S-rank, Serral must be SSS at least. Did you even watch the games, Maru once again had no chance in hell to even take a game from Serral, and that's with the Terran being completely broken.

@@hungpo454 Aligulac shows Serral is 56% over Reynor, not 51. In 2023, so far, Serral is 8-3 vs Reynor. The only zerg giving Serral a rough time recently is Solar.
Serral is 8-3 vs Reynor this year, and his overall record is 97-76 (56%) vs Reynor, so I don't know what suggests to you that he is "weak" against Reynor.
Boringly one sided.
Serral makes the matchup look Imba. Terrans can't deal with him to well.
