The fact its legit confirmed Will had no idea about the Kagerou Project and that chanting "Jump" was just to fill out noise, but despite that everyone found a cool meaning in it, is just baffling and impressive xD
If he didn't know about kagerou project then why did he choose 'Jump'? Was it because of the song's context he understood it was something suicide related?
@@plantinapot9169 I don’t think he knew the context necessarily, i just think almost everyone could have told you this was about suicide in some way if they had only seen the amv 2 times and didn’t understand the kagerou project in the slightest.

@@mug488 David actually mentioned at one point that it was entirely Will's idea, and that the cover originally went further with that idea. he had to talk Will down to the level of it that we ended up getting by explaining the narrative context to him

If you listen closely, the 'JUMP' sounds like 'DONT'
Which the reason why it might say jump is because that's ayano talking to herself. She's frozen in place not wanting to do it, but knowing she has to she yells at herself screaming jump, just so she has enough courage to end her own life.
You wanna make this even more painful for yourself, start listening to it as "DONT JUMP DONT JUMP"

i see a lot of people in the comments interpreting the "jump jump jump" at the beginning as a joke, and perhaps that was the intention, but as someone who has attempted suicide twice i want to thank you for the detail. it so accurately depicts the overwhelming sensation of intrusive thoughts, especially when juxtaposed with the "otherwise mediocre but in the moment overwhelming" noises in the background, whether they be a simple tune ( as shown in the background of this video ) or other white noise. im sure anyone whos been in a situation like that can empathize.
this cover has really touched me and ive enjoyed listening to it on loop for over a year now, and wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for this! the vocals, the lyrics, and the mixing all really pull together to create something very impactful.
It also sounds a lot like "don't" imo
im sorry you had to go through that, as someone who's had to go through that stuff myself. I hope you're healthier and happier nowadays, stay strong.

Damn, can't believe I've found this cover so late, it really is... unique, to say the least.
In all seriousness though, I never thought male voice would ever fit Additional Memory all that well, but guess I was wrong. The humming at the beggining and at the end is a nice touch too, if anything.
Now for the most "wtf" thing you added, of course I'm talking about the "JUMP JUMP" thing at the start. I was kind of in a state of shock when it came out of the blue, and most people were either laughing or crying very hard judging from the comments, but after I took a moment to think about it, this may actually make perfect sense.
Yes, the entire thing probably sounds so very out of place with its morbidity, but lets try to look at it as if it was genuinly a part of the song, or rather, that it was sung or in the thoughts of Ayano. She is literally loudly repeating to herself to jump, as if it is something she absolutely has to do, despite being so hard.
But it's actually just that. Think about it; remember the circumstances in which Ayano is currently in. She's forced commit suicide, if not she's dooming the rest of her family and potentialy even more of her friends, even though that would mean betraying and abandoning everything else, including your unrequited love, who is someone Ayano cares almost as much as her family.
Basically if she kills herself it will be very bad for her and at worst bad for those she cares about, and if she doesn't it will be very bad for everyone. With such a grueling choice, for someone her age, those words of insane encouragment to jump may very well be a thing.
Honestly I don't know if you were implying the incredibly depraved state of mind of the tragic hero with that spectacular beginning, but you'll still need some special courage to add something like that in this type of song for all to see, so props to you for that.
Oh also I must admit some lines were very interesting, I'll definetly be looking into them much deeply in the near future.
I find it funny reading peoples really long comments when in reality he said jump because he thought this would get mapped in osu! and that section is where 1-2's would be.

Honestly, I think this is better than the Jubyphonic cover. Like--don't get me wrong, I love juby, but this is so much truer than Juby's. By that, I mean it's so much easier to understand what Ayano's thinking. You can clearly see her denying everything, calling herself a coward, and finally accepting what she did and finding hope. This touches my heart so much more than the Juby one, thank you so much.
You like juby's cover? Dont get me wrong, its just that it bothers me how much autotune she uses

Yeah, she’s trying to strike that in-between of being expressive enough to hit you more emotionally than a vocaloid while being digitized enough to blend in with the electronic instrumentation and it’s really hit-or-miss.
Utaites like Soraru do this much better IMO, namely because they doesn’t use much voice editing and simply have the skill to change their execution to fit the song while Juby has yet to grow out of using editing as a clutch for her vocal missteps.
I think the thing is that this and Juby's cover are tonal opposites of each other. They both use "ごめんね大好きだよ/gomen ne daisuki da yo/I’m sorry, I love you" as the emotional breaking point of the song, but do that in ENTIRELY different ways. Juby's cover starts off emotionally intense and expressive, and for the most part stays that way, so "Sorry and hey, I loved you a lot" is made softer and more melancholy to create a shift. In contrast, Will's vocals are soft throughout (except for the "Jump!" at the start lmao), so ramps it up the emotional intensity and regret at "I was a fool, I love you so" to emphasize the line.
I like both covers, this was just an observation I had lol

This song and the MV has so many references to the other Kagerou Project songs
Like the TV, the starting chords referencing Ayano's Theory of Happiness. References to Lost Time Memory (pay more attention to the lyric at 1:18) and Toumei Answer (Ayano putting the paper crane on the desk)
EDIT: The flowers: White chrysanthemums are a symbol of death in Japanese culture, however, the bit of Ayano with the flowers sort of reminds me of the MV for Never Lost Word as Tsubomi has the whole flower motif in that song. But that one is a bit of a reach so take it with a grain of salt.
