It’s not petrol or diesel cars that are killing the planet, it’s EVs as well because the problem isn’t the cars themselves, it’s how they’re bought. PCPs are killing the planet. More specifically, people’s obsession with always needing to have the latest car with the latest tech (most of which they won’t use 80% of the time) and also people buying cars they can’t afford on PCPs. In the 80s and 90s before PCPs became popular, you’d only buy a car if you could actually afford it because you’d have to buy it cash, or take a bank loan for the full amount. That’s why cars like BMWs and Mercedes were all nice cars when sold as used because only people who could genuinely afford them would get them and if you’d worked hard enough to be able to afford one, you’d look after it well. These days, people just get sucked into a PCP by looking at the low monthly payment and when they get to the end of their agreement, very often, they don’t have enough cash around to pay the optional final payment, so they trade it in for something else and most of the time, it’s a brand new car, which is precisely the problem. It’s the manufacturing of new cars that harms the environment, not driving around in them. I’m fact, despite all the whining Sadiq Khan is doing in London about emissions, emissions from ICE cars contribute such a small amount of the total CO2 output that you wonder why road tax even used to be based on CO2. If people kept their cars for just a few years longer than they would normally do, we’d be able to slow down the manufacture of new cars and the reduction in emissions would be massive. Having said that, dealers are all too happy to push as many customers as possible onto PCPs because I’m sure they get lots of commission for referring customers to finance companies. It’s also worth noting that this problem is even worse for EVs because they are responsible for much, much higher emissions than ICE cars at the point of manufacture. I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s ramblings from me 😂 Nice Golf and I actually quite like the colour. Makes it look much more interesting than the grey and black cars that everyone else seems to have these days!

Agree about the buzz in diesel. I wish the id3 was made with a 2.0l diesel too

I like the Golf, but i find the back rather tight. Even on my ford fiesta the front seats do travel far forward giving rear passengers more than enough leg room

Do you find you change gear more often in small 3 cylinder engines, Barry? I’ve just bought one of my son’s a 3 cylinder 1.2 engined car and I find I’m changing gear more.

Looks absolutely fantastic not to sure on the colour i think I would go for blue I think and i think the DSG gear box is brilliant and the six speed manual is great very comfortable car on the motor way just wondering what types you have on it? I am going to go for some Michelin primarily 4 types all round. Because the wear is the best in class thank you so much for the video.

I rate Volkswagen so highly. Our 2010 Passat has done nearly 300k. Drove it when it was new. Last week when I drove it felt exactly the same as when new. So competent and you just can't fault it. It is boring though. I had a go in a Focus and a Fiesta with the PSA 1.6 diesel. Even though at only 100k they were a few rattles I still prefer Fords to Volkswagen. They please the enthusiast in me! 😆 for most people who don't care about an engaging drive. Just get a Volkswagen or a Skoda. In twenty years time it will still be running well when the Ford has long been scrapped and made into coke cans! 😅
