I haven't finished the video yet, but I wanted to put this out there if you have young kids and are wanting to pray the rosary with them, this is an idea I got from my sister. I use the wooden decade rosary from Shining Light Dolls and the large rosary flash cards from On a Mission to Love. We do one decade a day and my kids take turns setting the rosary bead into the decade base, it's been so helpful! Its hands on and the kids pay more attention because they waiting for the "Hail Mary" so they can set their wooden bead/ball down. If you have older kids with longer attention spans you could still use it and do a whole rosary, just reset the rosary each time. Mine are 3 and 5 and so decade is about all we can get through, but it's been a game changer!

I did the 54 day Rosary Novena starting Ash Wednesday with you last year and decided I'll make it one of my yearly traditions to do same period just because it's so easy to remember exactly when with the clear cut start and end dates❣️
I also did the read along the Gospel of Luke starting December 1 finishing on December 24 at your suggestion this two last year. Such a great idea I even got my Protestant family members to join in for that though they are wary of any other Catholic stuff.💙
I'm now following that kind of plan to read my Bible which I had been falling behind on as I basked in the joy and consolation of being literally carried to Glory by Rosary Prayer which has been my greatest discovery and my favorite daily devotion since converting to the Catholic Faith ❤❤❤
Reading the Bible is one of the greatest take away from my Protestant days and I'm loving rediscovering all my old favorites, thanks to the inspiration of "A Catholic Mom." ❤❤❤✝️🙏💙🙏

My 10 year old son announced to his siblings and me that we should celebrate St. Valentine on Monday, we have a tea time every year, so we can also celebrate Fat Tuesday with breakfast for dinner. That way we can be ready for lent and Ash Wednesday. I thought it was so winded it that he thought of it on his own. We all agreed!

Thank you, Heather, for these great ideas. This video came at a perfect time for me because I am going to our Adoration chapel tomorrow morning so I will use part of my time there to pray and ask God what He wants of me this Lent. So far, I am planning to do a 54-day rosary novena. I prayed one last year at your suggestions and found it to be very holy and beautiful. Your printable was very helpful. Since 2021, during Lent I read the book 33 Days to Merciful Love by Fr. Michael Gaitley so that I can renew my Consecration to Merciful Love on Divine Mercy Sunday. This is such a beautiful book. It is a 33-day retreat based on the teachings of St. Therese of Lisieux and her Offering to Merciful Love. ❤

I still haven’t figured what I’m giving up, but last year I really liked what I did….each morning, I picked a new sacrifice for the day- I gave up coffee one morning when it was a really rough wake up time and prayed an Act of Contrition every time I wanted coffee….or chocolate….or whatever vice I gave up that day.
Prayer has always been a tough one for me to get the whole family involved since my kids are so young. But my kids are 7 and 4 (turns 5 during lent) and my 7 year old is preparing for 1st Communion- so we are doing 2 things- a Jesus Tree (lent version of a Jesse tree- my kids loved Jesse Tree this past Advent) and then I got rosary pop it’s to start a family rosary and use as a teaching tool for their valentines gifts this year.

❤❤❤ this video! Just what I needed to help me prepare for Lent. Definitely doing your crustless quiche for meatless Fridays. I love eggs and it’s a great way to get in veggies. Might try your split pea soup this year! Thanks again, love all your Lenten ideas. God bless.

In UK & Ireland it's Pancake day before lent, where we use up our ingredients before fasting, it was always so much fun as a kid!

Love your video's even though my kids are grown. Just one clarification. The obligation to abstain from meat on Friday out side of lent was set aside, however we are obligated to perform acts of penance on Friday year round. I think it was Bishop Sheen that called Catholics back to no meat Friday along side other penance for the end of abortion. That is why serious faithful Catholics still abstain from meat on Fridays all year and many Catholics think we're weird.

Hi, I’m from New Zealand. I love your channel, often the links with discounts to buy things are from companies that don’t ship overseas otherwise I’d support your ministry by using your discount codes. We also have different Holy Days of Obligation. We love Brother Francis too and use them in our parish for faith formation even the adults love him!

This will probably get lost in the comments but I very much had you in my mind due to you mentioning your fear over the 3 days of darkness. I’m Mexican-American and in Mexico we have a strong devotion to our lady of Candelaria you probably already know this but just in case, Friday February 2nd is the day to get our candles blessed! I encourage anyone who is reading this to get to confession and get your candles blessed this Friday.

Probably not original, but reading prayerfully the liturgical readings for the day, each day of Lent. Better yet attend Mass (if your schedule allows).

What I prayed last Lent was the Lenten Prayer of St. Ephraim. And I'd also recommend the Chaplet of the Precious Blood of Jesus.
I'd also like to recommend a kids book about a saint (in general, not for Lent): My Name is Philomena by Fr. Peregrine Fletcher O. Praem.
    And movies:
*Ignatius of Loyola (2016) by Paolo Dy (NOT for kids, powerful, appropriate for Lent, a really good quality action/Bio-pic)
And two saint films by Leonardo Defilippis: Therese (recommend by the Vatican), and John of the Cross (found on RUclips).

Divine Mercy Novena and chaplet, sacred heart prayer, prayer to Holy Blood of Jesus, Prayer to Holy wounds of Jesus, Prayer to wounded head of Jesus, and prayer to Holy face of Jesus.
    The way of the cross.
These prayers are powerful prayers, especially during this 40 days lent time. Miracles will happen while doing this prayer.
If anyone need this prayers, I will share.

We are going to Celebrate FatTuesday and St Valentines day together also. I love to plan and check things off thank you for the preparing for lent checklists. Last year the Hallow app had a daily refection with different people. I plan on doing that again if it is offered. I always enjoy your meatless meals I will have to go back and watch those again for ideas. May you have a holy and meaningful Lent.

Thank you so much for another wonderful video! I think we will do valentines over the weekend, because Shrove Tuesday is the feast of the Holy Face a family devotion of ours. We will do the Chaplet of the holy face, and maybe a coloring page.
I have been checking out holy heroes for over a year and you finally convinced me to buy. I ordered the stations of the cross posters as well as the rosary posters and a few books. 🤣 But now I've got stuff for our easter basket.
I'm still trying to figure out lent this year. I will probably be giving birth during lent unless I go way early or way late. Thanks for sharing all the ideas. I'll ask my husband what interests him the most for our family to do this year.

    Matthew 6:16-18
16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
