  • Today's video covers Point and Figure charts on TradingView. Point and figure charts that focus entirely on price movements. Unlike traditional candlestick or line charts, which plot price against time, point and figure charts only record price changes that meet a predefined criteria, typically a minimum amount of price movement.
Each column on a point and figure chart consists of either X's or O's, representing uptrends and downtrends respectively. These charts do not consider time, which makes them particularly useful for identifying clear trends and key support and resistance levels.
A new X is added to the chart when prices rise by a specified amount (box size), and an O is added when prices fall by the same amount.
This video covers the basics of Point and Figure charts and also dives into advanced concepts.

@TradingView Feature request: I use the Traditional assignment method and would like to see a shortcut for 'box size', just as there is a shortcut to change the timeframe (upper left next to the ticker). Currently we have to right click the chart, then open settings, then change the box size. Please and thank you

Where do I find the setting for square boxes with circles i.e. not eggs or ovals?

There's no setting to show the full boxes, but would you want to see that?

The point and figure of the trading view is pitiful. It's not “timeless”, it's temporal, flawed in its original formula!!! The PnF formula would be pure price, price movement, but the history of the chart trading view is time movement. The point and figure of the trading view is temporalized, it is not by MOVEMENT. In addition, it has repaints, history is not reliable, it seems that there is a lot of data to store and the platform wants to save space. Worst of all, in the “box size” option, if you set the price to plot at 1%, it plots at 0.50%, thus creating false graphs and histories. So what's the point of using PnF...
