    You should always poor and mud your pan and tile the shower floor before running any tiles on the walls. And don’t be a professional rookie and use a piece of fern strip to run your tile it if you pour your pan right and install your tile right you should be able to run your wall tiles right off of your floor tiles for a perfect installation every time!

    Looks nice.
    One thing I would like to point out is that when you changed the plumbing drain where it connected to the vent tee, you made it a tee wye, that now doesn't meet code.
    You shouldn't have a problem snaking a 2" tee to start, but the reason for code compliance is the water level now can block the air in that tee wye. The vent is lower than the drain. Then it acts like it isn't vented. IPC and UPC plumbing codes address this. Functions like an s trap.

Also if you do plumbing leave it open 24hr to make sure there’s no leaks. And from personal experience use Oatey Shower Pan PVC Adhesive on the drain 👌🏻

    Tile installation... The final job looks great. However, the tiles were not properly installed. When you install an interior tile you should have a minimum contact area of 80% between the tile and the thin set (NOT LESS). Exterior tiles and tiles subject moisture (i.e. Showers) should have a 95% of contact area (ANSI A108.5). You can also refer to the current version of the TCNA Handbook.

    • @SuperVPro
      @SuperVPro  3 года назад

      100% contact is better than all of that can you please explain what you're talking about?

    • @Oneguyinc.
      @Oneguyinc. 3 года назад +4

      I’ll explain all your mortar needs to be spread in one direction perpendicular,then tiles need to be placed and worked side to side (perpendicular) to knock down the ridges that’s why you use a notch trowel and lastly tiles need to be vibrated or tapped to release air bubbles if you do not do those three things you will not get 95% coverage!

    • @SuperVPro
      @SuperVPro  3 года назад +1

      @@Oneguyinc. What you're talking about is something that has to be done if your thin set is very stiff my stuff is very wet including the mud everything squishes out without a problem. That's why floating your walls with mud is the best way is way and the longest lasting .

    idk man, seems like its gunna leak. no red guard or equivalent or nothing anywhere on the float? Theres that other channel that shows what happens when you dont.

    • @chinaskibukowski7747
      @chinaskibukowski7747 2 года назад

      Yes. He should have Red Guarded the entire float. Should have back buttered all the tiles. No pebbles or rocks to protect weep holes. No 24 hour water retention test for the liner. Didn't look like he used pressure treated lumber for curb. Didn't set level lines ensuring a proper screed to create correct slope over the parameter of the pan. Didn't look like any sealer was used. etc. Ain't no way this is shower isn't getting water damage.

    • @tranderrick
      @tranderrick 2 года назад +1

      @@chinaskibukowski7747 definitely all that, those details separate the advance custom builder and the production builder. The reason why it might not be an issue alot of the times is because in hot climates, water mitigation is enough and the dry hot air will literally suck and dry out any moisture leaks. But in the cold northwest, after a hot shower, the air will be hyper moisturized and water mitigation is not enough. It will never dry out in between daily showers for a whole family, so the only way to make it last 25 years is straight up pure water proofing everything. Vapor barriers, red gaurd, pressure treated when you can, always cement board. An un regaurded float will fail in cold climates. I stop trusting floats all together where im at as well. Same amount of time for me to shim and the wall with 1/16th plywood strips, and just use cement board. Its like......5 sheets. Heres an example of what happens to a floated wall on drywall with no redgaurd.
      ruclips.net/video/joPIlGyl8Qs/видео.html
      he probably did it that way for dozens of builds and was fine but that particular customer, probably had a huge family and that shower was nuked 8 times a day. The grout never dried out in between uses and eventauly water just wicked through the float and damaged the drywall.

    • @SuperVPro
      @SuperVPro  2 года назад

      All the waterproofing is in the back of the float: aquabar paper. The reason for that is that if the corners separate the red guard will always crack and that is the biggest damage I see in this industry. It's okay for DIYers, not okay for professionals. The shower has to be good for at least 30 years without leaking. Not everybody can afford to replace their shower every five years. And getting warranty out of Redguard is like pulling teeth.

    What is the size of the shower? And what is the tile on the back wall - I love it! Please do a video on materials cost for this.
    Please don't take offense to this. Yours are quickly becoming my favorite videos on home improvement, but the background music, while you are talking and explaining things, is loud and distracting and many videos have muted parts. Still very much worth watching! But please get rid of the music.
    Also, is there another way to finish the curb that will not leave such sharp edges? While they are sleek looking, i take care of an elderly man who is at risk of falling and the last thing I want is to add something that could potentially worsen the injury from a fall. So, as pretty as it looks, i think I need something rounded.

    • @SuperVPro
      @SuperVPro  2 года назад +1

      It's a 5x3 shower. The tile on the back wall is from Floor & Decor - 12x24 Idol tear grey tile. I will try to do the cost video as well, thank you for the suggestion.
      And thank you so much for the feedback about the music - we will work on tuning it down. It helps to hear back from you, guys! :)
      To get rid of the sharp edge you would want to use a schlutter edge. Hope it helps!

    Great job other than creating an "s trap" when you moved the drain. That thing your calling a sweep is a combo. The short sweep on the Sanitary tee is designed like that on purpose. It prevents the trap from siphoning dry when the shower is draining. Honestly it shouldn't be a problem because the shower will drain much less water volume than the previous tub did. However in the future if you use a combo in place of a sanitary tee on something like a tub it will be an issue causing sewer smell if they ever fill up the tub and drain it. Bathroom looks great though. The work including the plumbing is really clean.

    No sir. Even though you have the good set up with the weeping drain, the shower pan should have been poured first, then tiled. Then bring your wall tile down onto of your Tiled floor. If the customer suffers caulking failure your floor pan will fill up more so. Yes you got the good drain set up with the weeping drain but it's another way to avoid your sand finish floor filling up with water.

      It will not be better because you will not be able to replace the floor if you want to. Plus underneath your mud and tile is weep holes which can take care of any water that needs to go down there.

    I’m gonna have to say the tile inside the shower against the wall looks great but all the little tiny blocks and then the tile that you got in the shower at the bottom floor dude you got to make a match it looks like you ran out of certain tiles and just use whatever you had on hand. It needs to be more uniform honestly that’s my personal opinion I just don’t like the set up you did I like the shower piping that is wonderful the door for the shower wonderful everything looks great except for the little tiny tile and the floor inside the shower those two have no correlation with the other.
