I like Mamah Dedeh. I really appreciated when she said that her father told her there’s no such thing as a women’s job or a man’s job. She’s pretty much saying that male and female gender roles are stupid and non-existent, which is so hard for Muslims around the world to understand because of some of our ridiculous cultures. Male or female, we equal in the eyes of God and only God is the judge of how good of a person we are.

Yeah, in Indonesia and a lot of asian culture there is no such thing as free sex.. So they referred a maiden and a virgin as one.. Of course there's a better word to translate a young maiden as "gadis" rather than "perawan".. Nowaday there is a lot of free sex before marriage in Indonesia so..
Many foreigner people confuse why Indonesia is majority Islam but their name look like hindu and many other. Short History from Indonesia: 1.Sriwijaya and Majapahit Empire (Hindu-Buddhist Kingdom) 2.Demak and other Sultanate (Islamic Kingdom) 3.European coming especially Dutch (Christian come here) 4.WW2 Japan and independence So why they very fast converted from Hindu-Buddhist to Islam this is the answer: 1.Declining and fall of Majapahit because civil war, many majapahit noble converted to Islam also Islam promise classless society also arabic languange (yeah trading languange) 2.Rise of Malaka Sultanate and Zheng He Treasure Fleet from Ming Dinasty who contain chineese moslem is rapidly Islamic preaching in this Malayan Archipelago. 3.Wali Songo (Nine Scholar) group of Islamic preacher from around the world came to Indonesia like Shaikh Syubakir (Turkey), Syekh Maulana Maghribi (Morocco) etc but most influential preacher is Sunan Kalijaga from Java who preach Islam but keeping traditional value still intact. 4.Sultanate Demak conquest, after many majapahit noble converted to Islam some of them make new government under Raden Patah to "cleared" civil war messed up and claiming right succession to Majapahit TL:DR read Majapahit history
Concept of islamic equality is interesting to Indonesian people back then beside Hinduism class society like Brahmana, Waisya, Ksatria, etc. Also because of Sunan Kalijaga preaching sincretized traditional custom with Islam so Indonesian people still keep their custom like name written in sanskrit with islam teaching. "is there anyone still virgin in here?"
but she didn't get it. (maybe because she's just city girl).
the real meaning is "is there anyone in here unmarried yet?"
This is categorized as a question that contains jokes because those who are asked are old mothers.
everyone who answered this with "Yes" will contain double meaning, and seems impossible.
this is another joke "My Grandma is still a virgin"
and yes it is an impossible statement.
and we use that as a jokes.
but still can be used if the intended meaning is already a widow.
but also unacceptable because he uses the word virgin.
that's why that type of question is categorized as a joke.
She understand the meaning but she purposely making jokes with "Perawan" literal translation

why these people so butthurt about this.
its bad translation, Vice messed up, though "perawan" are indeed "virgin", i think the better translation considering the context are "Maiden" as in, not maried yet
Short History from Indonesia:
1.Sriwijaya and Majapahit Empire (Hindu-Buddhist Kingdom)
2.Demak and other Sultanate (Islamic Kingdom)
3.European coming especially Dutch (Christian come here)
4.WW2 Japan and independence
So why they very fast converted from Hindu-Buddhist to Islam this is the answer:
1.Declining and fall of Majapahit because civil war, many majapahit noble converted to Islam also Islam promise classless society also arabic languange (yeah trading languange)
2.Rise of Malaka Sultanate and Zheng He Treasure Fleet from Ming Dinasty who contain chineese moslem is rapidly Islamic preaching in this Malayan Archipelago.
4.Sultanate Demak conquest, after many majapahit noble converted to Islam some of them make new government under Raden Patah to "cleared" civil war messed up and claiming right succession to Majapahit
TL:DR read Majapahit history
sri vijaya and iam doubtful abt classless society thing...
Remember letter V in Indonesia is read to W
Yo you missed out the forced conversions though!
Every religion spread in Indonesia mostly by merchant or noble converted so more peacefully other than in America, Middle East, or Europe. Hindu-Buddhist came with Brahmana, Islam came with Nine Scholar, even christian like Dutch dont want bother moslem inhabitant in Indonesia so preaching in East Indonesia back then still Pagan. Notable forced conversion of Islam in Indonesia just Sultanate Demak conquest, but the Sultan still majapahit noble, their army former majapahit army and that conquest part of Paregreg war (Majapahit Civil War) after paregreg noble who dont want converted to Islam fled to Bali Island and Demak dont want bother their brother noble in Bali

When Mamah Dedeh clicks a website, the cookie accepts her
Holy shit I was raised by a very overbearing Muslim mom so seeing Mamah Dedeh was so refreshing?? Honest, badass and unbiased. From teaching responsible internet use to gender equality this was honestly surprising to see. And that last message she left with “Please find a balance between this life and the next” so different from the way islams been exposed to me where I sometimes get pressured that if I don’t dedicate my entirety to Islam I am of no worth. Mamah Dedeh needs to preach to all middle aged ladies around the world!!
Edit:
This is NOT your opportunity to comment however which way you think I should be behaving. You DO NOT know me. Humble yourselves.
Responses to my comment are EXACTLY why I despise the people of this religion. I did NOT post this to for me to be examined (You know absolutely NOTHING about me apart from the little to go on from my comment, yet chose to exalt yourselves in your responses as if it’s going to earn you some brownie points into heaven - it’s not. I despise you for it this is unsolicited and unwarranted.) This is exactly the kind of sickness that’s common in the people of this religion and most Abrahamic religions. You are the kind of people that make the religion absolute shite because you do not genuinely care you feel it is your only duty to judge and proselytise under the guise of giving advice and guiding someone. You have done NO due diligence to get to know me or gather any details for a fuller picture of my situation. If I wanted guidance I know better than to take advice from some randos in the comments section of a RUclips video 😭😭😭.
@@Anonymous-ek2rh I barely put a snippet out of what my moms put me through and you’re agreeing with a stranger about a stranger just based on some moral high compass you subscribe to? Fuck off.
Of course you should balance between this life and the next, and sorry your mom was overbearing, I hope she did whats best for you
@@blue.orangeade pleasseeee shut the fuck uppppp I didn’t ask!! Who are you?? You don’t know me. If a guy in the comments told me I can sleep around before marriage am I supposed to believe that too?? If I wanted advice ok Islam I am not dumb enough to take it in the comments section of some random video!! You have no credibility!! You have no input to my life shut the fuck upppp
You need to educate yourself first. Your lack of Islamic knowledge that what brought you to that state.
Sorry to hear that. Many Islamic preachers in Indonesia said if you want to learn Islam learn the religion, the Quran, the Hadith and prophet Muhammad. Muslim are just people, and people sometimes made mistakes, Islam is 1400+ years ol religion and since then there are a lot of differences in their way to interpret the teaching. Follow our heart, learn the religion, but also do our best to live in this world, like she said it must be balance, if we can be advance in terms of civilization in this life we might be able to do more for each other. Take a look at the Islamic golden age, the time where religion and science are balance a good life and civilization finally achieved.
Not a muslim but Mama Dedeh is a Great person
Mashallah. But keep in mind as well as these beautiful female Islamic teachers, we should also be grateful for our female role models who lived in the time of the prophet saws. They are just as if not more inspirational
