- Hello again, nice to be back on our narrowboat and the canals. We left the marina in wonderful weather (unusual this year 😉) and were looking forward to a nice peaceful cruise. Everything was perfect until we came across one of the new breed of "boater" infiltrating our waterways in increasing numbers. In the video you will view and understand what we mean, it needs to change but how?
To top it all we find out that one of the canalside watering holes we regulary visit is closing its doors. What a start to our little cruising adventure.

Hey . One word comes to mind. Disgraceful.
It's such a shame how people have no consideration on the canals.Hoping it's the minority of people.
Lovely to have you both back cruising 🎉🎉
Hello again
Sadly this type of behaviour is increasing. Excessive alcohol use and of course wacky baccy is changing the canals and boating communities. Not sure how these awful ways can be stopped. B & K 🙋♀️🙋❤️
So nice to see you out and about again. X
Hello again
Nice to be back cruising. Was tempted to drill an hole under the waterline of that boat and put some sugar in the other boats generator. Too much of this type of behaviour these days. The loud music and generator not drill holes and sugar 🤭😂. B & K 🙋♀️🙋❤️
That generator running constantly on that boat, after the Nantwich aqueduct, has been there weeks. It's a 48 HR mooring !
Hi
It is happening more and more on prime moorings. The normal boaters are having to deal with type of behaviour on a regular basis. They should at the very least be moored in a remote area but invariably it is near facilities. B & K 🙋♀️🙋
Great to watch you couple again.
I'm still a fan of the Yorkshire Gold Blend tea from Harrogate myself.
With a drop of Bob skim milk.
Fancy milks are too posh for moi 😂
Nice to see you are still fixing and mendin'.
Always enjoyed your earliest vlogs of proper techy stuff ont boat.
No one seems to know how to handle even a screwdriver these days, but I'm very old, and we was taught proper in yon distant past.
Nice new loo.
Super sunny days ..lucky you.
But the opening pulsing photos...are totally bonkers...if I may be rude...no offence ..just does my head in.
That list of canals is staggering...most envious...well done...
Bravo to you both.
This ancient decrepit subscriber Thank You for all the fun and common sense ..( well except oat milk 😮 ) and lovely canaling..
It's sadly true that the canals are less polite and more rude than 50 years ago, but what isn't??
Many more happy years to you both.
ML
Hello again
No Oat Milk in Yorkshire Tea, that would be sacrilege. Even though we could get people to do our maintenance we enjoy getting our hands dirty, very satisfying. Cannot disagree that the pulsating photos are a bit bonkers, we like trying out different things 🤭. We hope you continue to watch and enjoy are videos (apart from pulsating photos 😂). B & K 🙋♀️🙋❤️
Already commented on it. First went in the Jolly Tar with my mate in about 1976. Room to the right as you went in with a pool table. That was after being there on my uncles boat on our way to Llangollen from Monton on the Bridgewater in 1975 where the lighthouse is now. Such happy times. We went so many times after on our motorbikes as we had met a few ladies from Wardle on our trip.
We also had many happy times in the Jolly Tar. A bit of a ladies man back in the day 🥰. Cheers B & K 🍻
Really enjoyed the cruise, shame about the noisy boat. We love the peace on the canals , it's such a pity when it's ruined by an inconsiderate boater or two.
A great pity about the pub closing, we seem to be losing lots of lovely country pubs. Unfortunately, it's become very expensive to drink out now, but we still like our visits to the pub - we just don't stay as long! 😊
Hello again
We are coming across more of these "boaters". No doubt fuelled by alcohol and wacky backy. Not sure how it can be stopped. What makes it worse is the continuous mooring in prime areas. We tend to aim for remote moorings so we can enjoy the piece and quiet. The price of food and drink in pubs has certainly shot up hence less footfall. No idea how a family can be expected to regularly enjoy a meal out. B & K 🙋♀️🙋🍻
great vlog on travels on the cut thanks lee
Glad you enjoyed it (apart from the noise). B & K
Loved the video and travelling along the canals with you guys again. Shame about the Barbridge. Until next time 😊
The Barbridge used to be a regular stop off for many boaters. Increased costs are impacting so many people and buisnesses. We hope it opens again but in these times it will be difficult. B & K 🙋♀️🙋
I love all that area as you said in the earlier part of the video the shroppie is a-beautiful canal 😊
Hello again
We have cruised all over but always enjoy coming back to this very special area. B & K 🙋♀️🙋👏
I too love oat milk coffee. I froth it up and it tastes delicious. Can the Canal trust not issue the noisy boater with a warning. ?What a busy canal you on today. Love scenery and colours. Thank you both. Take care.
Hi Shirley
I am considered to be a bit strange ( by family)liking oat milk in coffee and on cerrals. CRT do not have anything to do with the unsociable boaters on the canals unless in London or the Kennet & Avon canal.
It is a situation which is gettong worse. Alcohol and wacky backy fueled in most cases. We thought the canal was quieter than normal for the time of the year. B & K 🙋♀️🙋❤️
It’s a shame about The Barbridge Inn We headed to there deliberately last Friday after a trip up the Llangollen to have a final drink (hopefully not) We had a lovely evening talking to a few boaters and locals in the beer garden We were also surprised how quiet the Llangollen was (we normally wouldn’t go up this early but risked it ) Most of the hire boats at the top end seemed to be out to be fair !!!!! The prime mooring were available which surprised me a little They volunteered lock keepers at Grindley Brook were say they were averaging 15 boats a day less using the locks than previous years
Hello again
We have always enjoyed a visit to the Barbridge. Many years ago we also went to the Jolly Tar (long demolished) , new houses now on the land. We hope the Barbridge opens up again but times are changing, we are keeping our fingers crossed. A few people have said the Llangollen has been quieter than normal and whilst out we could not believe the lack of moving boats. B & K 🙋♀️🙋❤️🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Are the "noisy" people live-aboards or hire boaters? If hire boaters then perhaps something can be from the hire companies. Or don't they care? Anyway, I'm sorry that this is happening. I hope that most of your cruising is more peaceful.
Hi
Very rarely do hire boaters behave in this horrible way. It is a certain type of boater (normally continuous moorers) who have no respect for the decent people on and around the canals. This type of antisocial behaviour is on the increase, we know a few boaters who have had enough. The problem with canal funding and poor behaviour is driving decent people off the canals. B & K 🙋♀️🙋
@@TheTillerPeopleNarrowboaters I'm very sorry to hear this.
I think it's the way things are these days with people, F you, I'm OK. Sad to hear about the pubs along the canal. Question, does anyone know why CRT changed their map to this useless one they now have on the web page? As other boaters have said its only good for dog walkers.
Hi
An increasiing number of people are abhorrent both on canals and on land. Those updated maps are a waste of time if you are a boater. It really does beggar belief. B & K
