I love my 2023 Zx6r. It screams all the way to 15k rpms. Personally Kawasaki is a better overall bike. Because once I hit 2nd gear I am going to pass the R9 and keep going to 168. R9 is not coming close enough. I think the zx6r should have throttle by wire to get the auto blip and 6axis imu. Hopefully for 2026/27 if it’s not gone by then. There nothing wrong with the R9 I like a lot but it’s a MT -09 in sheep clothing. R9 has some really good tech though it’s just matter of what riders want .
What kind of riding do you do? Highway degenerate? Buy the kawi. Curves or track? Choose based on desired power curve. Mostly city use? Buy the Yamaha.
I like that the Yamaha 2025 YZF-R9 has a Curse Control that a important feature for Highway Driving. Personally I like all the technology it gives make some more worth your money. All of the new features are great except for that gas tank being somewhat smaller and also I like that they made the seat usable for smaller Riders. Also im 27 years old. 👌

I asked my chief mechanic (top official Kawi service here in S-pain, also journo and VIP-carrying pilot at events) that K should launch a racy and torquey 800 inline-4 (I don´t want the 1000SX everybody tells me I should get). He said with a sad gesture: "get a tri elsewhere" and "chinese bikes are getting better every year" My take: manufacturers can´t afford a bespoke sports motor+frame anymore (save for the halo, liter superbikes), and Kawi does not have a middleweight "platform" anyway. My requirement for my next sports bike includes "it must NOT be a "platform" version", so I will keep my ´13 ZX6 until she falls apart: the new one has same engine and frame and does not justify the investment for me for a few engine "improvements", EURO5 compliance, and a cheap electronics pack now available in cheap chinese lightweights. The mid sized sport bike category is so convoluted now. You have a kawasaki ninja 650 and a ducati SS in the same category. It isnt as easy as it used to be. We had 600’s and 650’s. Now we have the r9 which has the power of the r6 and super twins like the rs660 and r7. The ducati shouldnt even be in the same category. Its a 1 liter…. But the old one had 150hp and the new one has 120hp. Wtf is even going in over there…
@ChrisVanMiddelkoop I can't believe how ass backwards it's gotten. It's the manufacturers trying to save a buck and manipulated people into thinking it's more fun to go slow and power wheelie at 20mph all day. Years ago was the speed wars where every 600 and every liter bike was in a competition to put out a better bike every couple years. Those days were a blessing.
Good morning, if I'm not mistaken the shifter is up AND down on the ninja zx6r 2025 model. Can you confirm this information which appears on the kawasaki website please?
What happened ? I'm asking because I was gonna put a deposit on one next week? If there is a delay, then I'll wait till summer/fall. I MIGHT just wait and snag the 2025 R1
They are saying slow entry into USA.. some will get it and it will trickle down slowly.. probably a marketing play if you ask me because supply chain issues are no longer an issue.
U dudes make it sound like the zx6 wasn't killing the mt 09 u put plastic on it now its a better bike gotfh with bs all this bs u dudes be talking about torque an top speed lean angle dont matter on the street its all on the rider period
Its preference in power curve. Under 100mph, the Yamaha is the absolute winner. Over 120, 600cc bikes are the clear winner. I prefer the torque and quickness for city use. But many people desire the high revs and top speed of the 600 series bikes.
Every time I race a zx6r on my mt09 I’m ahead of them until about 220kmh after that the aero of the zx6r takes the cake. Now that the R9 exists it will no longer be the case.
Wait until a sensor goes bad and your spending 1200$ on a new one. The R9 is a turd on wheels. I've already had several gens of the 636 and they are reliable and bulletproof and I know I can do all the mods and maintenance myself. And troubleshooting with its more simplistic ECU compared to the complexity and only a matter of time before your having to bring that R9 in just to pay to get the check engine light flashed. It's not a GP bike, it's not even a race rep. It's a parts-bin special and those electronics cost the manufacturer pennies to produce because they did all the R&D already years ago. It's like a cookie cutter for Yamaha.
Wearing Timberland steel toed boots with two Dr. Scholls gel shoe inserts helps add about 2 inches to my 5 ft 9 in height and brings my inseam to an adjusted inseam of about 31 inches. It helps ''Flat Foot'' the bike. The only problem is the shifter needs to be adjusted, due to the steel toed boots having a thick toe.
This whole clip and comments are Kawasaki leaning.. because they’re talking spec comparisons and not actual ride impressions. Bugger off and come back when it’s out on the streets and multiple people write actual rider reviews. Not assumptions and conjecture
Kawasaki leaning? I disagree.. pound for pound, I listed all features of both bikes along with pros and cons. Tell me at what point you found a biased perspective for the Kawa?
@@PetroHead The term “Bugger off” In my country means “Go away” It’s not “F off” or anything close to it. Apologies if that’s how it came across There’s multiple comparisons comparing the un yet released R9 to other bikes and it’s all spec related and it’s been over done imo. Wake me when reviewers actually take one for a rip and even then ride it more than once. I think my first comment covered what I’ve just said
@ No one sent you a personal invitation to come watch this video. Sorry you didn't find it valuable. Come back when I have the actual bike. For now.. "bugger off mate" 😉
I've always liked the green machine but let's be real this comparison doesn't really hold up simply because it's between old generation (kawi) vs the new generation of middle weight sportbikes (R9) R9 is better in every way possible (tech, brakes, suspension, ride by way,etc..) plus that white and red color is just 🔥
I currently have an R7. I was disappointed with the design of R9. Its shorter seat height, gas tank, and other specs have turned me away. I want something aggressive, good size tank and compact. The R9 isnt it. I rather just jump up to a 4th or 5th Gen 636 or a zx10r or an R1.
R9 for street twisties torqe out corners,,, and ZX6 for track .. take R9 for winner sound / the triple the power/ looks and you dont have to rev it get to have pull.. got to ride one !! -try a MT 09 do a review !! cheers
The R9 will be the better bike for the street and occasional track day. If you only plan to race it, then the ZX6R will have a slight edge, and ONLY up top on longer straightaways. Top speed on the ZX6R is only like 157mph(actual, not the speedo that is at least 6% high), and the R9 should be able to match that, more or less... But the R9 will have WAY more grunt coming off turns and in the midrange, it has better brakes and suspension, better electronics, etc... Weights are close enough that it won't make a difference. Lots of guys only look at the dyno chart and they only look at the peak number... And then they wonder why an MT09 spanked their R6 from 0-100mph, or down a twisty mountain road... haha
@@STAGLIFE-nk9jq Its a better, faster bike than your ZX6R. My car, is faster than your bike, off the line, top end, etc... Its a great bike, and its quick, but it isn't FAST. Guys who only ride 600's down the highway, think its fast, but most of them don't know what an actual fast bike is like. The R9 has better everything, and will gap a 636 in the turns. They developed the R9 for the new supersport racing classes, and its gonna be brilliant.
@@Daves_Man_Cave My first though exactly. Just looking at last year's Supersport World Championship the R6 was far ahead of the ZX6R. For Yamaha to replace the R6 with the R9 I would think that they expect the R9 to be ahead of the ZX6R at the track or they would've kept the R6
@@reconnaissanceman23 Yeah. Most of it has to do with emissions requirements. The R6 was long in the tooth, but they couldn't make it Euro5 compliant and beyond, without corking it up with all sorts of stuff and crippling performance, which would decimate sales in a class already struggling... The R9 uses a proven power plant, and anyone that's ridden an MT-09 knows that it's a little ripper and wheelie monster. Putting it into a proper sport bike chassis with all the latest gadgets, was a brilliant move. People that don't know much about bikes or riding, just look at the peak number on a spec sheet. The R6 and 636 make a couple hp more, in the past 5% of the rev range. In the other 95% of the rev range, the R9 dominates. When the full reviews and stuff come out, people will see. Ducati is taking similar heat for "downgrading" the V2 motor in the Panigale. Yes, it makes 35hp less, but it also weighs almost 40lbs less... and the one stat that really matters, the LAP TIME... nearly identical... Its lighter, so it takes less power to accelerate, it corners better, and it has less weight to slow down so it can brake later... So the lap times are almost the same, despite it making "less power". You get it, I get it, @PetroHead gets it... but clowns that just learned to ride last Tuesday, don't.

But the old one had 150hp and the new one has 120hp. Wtf is even going in over there…
You gotta give those ego driven buyers something to show off about ‘I ride a liter bike’ how much power? 120 LMAO.
Lol to just buy a 1000 , got zx10r tuned pure ❤️ but not for beginners
Zx4rr does not have an imu. Not sure where you heard that from.
5000 views and one man pays attention. 👍
Good morning, if I'm not mistaken the shifter is up AND down on the ninja zx6r 2025 model. Can you confirm this information which appears on the kawasaki website please?
Up only.. I said it a few times lol..
winglets are ugly and not suited for the street, 😂 😂 remember riced honda civic now, riced bikes
I cancelled my R9 because of the delay, ended up putting a deposit on a new V2S
What happened ? I'm asking because I was gonna put a deposit on one next week? If there is a delay, then I'll wait till summer/fall. I MIGHT just wait and snag the 2025 R1
They are saying slow entry into USA.. some will get it and it will trickle down slowly.. probably a marketing play if you ask me because supply chain issues are no longer an issue.
@@PetroHeadhaven't you heard.....there is 🥕 issue
lol I don’t get it..
@@grissom3310 money issue?
Lmao bringing up aerodynamics and gearing and saying it’s the winner. Time will tell. Do you currently ride?
@@Chumbucketsecret Lol you think aerodynamics give the edge to the 636?
Triumphs make so much more power than Yamaha inline triples.
R9
Wearing Timberland steel toed boots with two Dr. Scholls gel shoe inserts helps add about 2 inches to my 5 ft 9 in height and brings my inseam to an adjusted inseam of about 31 inches. It helps ''Flat Foot'' the bike.
The only problem is the shifter needs to be adjusted, due to the steel toed boots having a thick toe.
An extra .5 gallons is pretty nice
This whole clip and comments are Kawasaki leaning.. because they’re talking spec comparisons and not actual ride impressions.
Bugger off and come back when it’s out on the streets and multiple people write actual rider reviews. Not assumptions and conjecture
Kawasaki leaning? I disagree.. pound for pound, I listed all features of both bikes along with pros and cons. Tell me at what point you found a biased perspective for the Kawa?
@
The Kawasaki is out there ridden and proved
The Yammy isn’t out there for the masses to decide either way
@ Ok so why not just say that instead of a being a troll?
@@PetroHead
The term “Bugger off”
In my country means “Go away”
It’s not “F off” or anything close to it. Apologies if that’s how it came across
There’s multiple comparisons comparing the un yet released R9 to other bikes and it’s all spec related and it’s been over done imo.
I've always liked the green machine but let's be real
this comparison doesn't really hold up simply because it's between old generation (kawi) vs the new generation of middle weight sportbikes (R9)
R9 is better in every way possible (tech, brakes, suspension, ride by way,etc..) plus that white and red color is just 🔥
Lol imagine being this out of touch
I currently have an R7. I was disappointed with the design of R9. Its shorter seat height, gas tank, and other specs have turned me away. I want something aggressive, good size tank and compact. The R9 isnt it. I rather just jump up to a 4th or 5th Gen 636 or a zx10r or an R1.
R9 for street twisties torqe out corners,,, and ZX6 for track .. take R9 for winner sound / the triple the power/ looks and you dont have to rev it get to have pull.. got to ride one !! -try a MT 09 do a review !! cheers
If u now how to ride u don't worry about torque an all the bunch of bs u talkin about zx6 will crush that shit
Yeah only for noobs 😂😂
@@STAGLIFE-nk9jq But you are a noob. Post some track day footage of you and let's see your lap times.
The R9 is the better bike. Better components and better power in 95% of the areas that people ride...
@@Daves_Man_Cave Wrong.
The R9 is great for people that love ugly motorcycles
GSX-R750 wins.
Considering selling my s1000 to pick up a R9! Such a great bike on paper!
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯😬😬😬😬😬!!!
Hell ya... Yamaha needs to pay me!
Just buy a 1000. You will be happier later.
And then they wonder why an MT09 spanked their R6 from 0-100mph, or down a twisty mountain road... haha
Boring ugly bike -R9🤡
Wrong.
Can’t believe this is even a conversation…. Wow…
@Backtothehat 2 completey different beasts. A race rep vs a versatile bike. 10yrs ago versatile meant p.o.s
