@@MrJimmyp39 I know this post is ancient, but how do you even get a job in an industry like that? Lift construction and maintenance is such a specialized job that I would imagine you would need an apprenticeship or something like that to even get your foot in the door.
There are some deisel powered lifts out there, but they're few and far between, and definitely not built that way because of the altitude. Electric motors work the same at all altitudes but deisel engines lose efficiency. Also it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that it would be easier to haul diesel fuel up a mountain than to run a cable.
I respect the campers but doesn't make any sense!! why not sleep in a warm bed and just wake early enough to beat everyone else... to each their own I guess
Hold off for now. It would be awesome, but I don't know when I could get myself to Iowa anytime soon. I'll keep you posted. But thank you very much Caden.
Everyone should try this...??? HELL NO,,, ill stay in a warm Hotel room till 6 am and wake up to a warm room...(This seem like the same people who stay outside an Apple Store for a week to buy the next phone that goes out of Tech in a Month)
Brings back memories. I worked for Leitner and helped put in those lifts.
No way!! For real???
Amazing!
DownieLive I managed the electric and hydraulic departments. I was on site for a few weeks to do the programming and start up.
So cool! What a job.

Some chairs that are very high altitude use diesel because it is too high for electricity

Nice video. I got to to this at sun peaks and see both stations. So cool
Nice, Sun Peaks is a great mountain. I worked up there for a season in 2008/09 season.
@@DownieLive yo cool
@@DownieLive mysterious ways how this world works but I actually work as a lift mechanic at Fernie now just for the summer. Fun times
There isn’t a counter weight on that lift it’s hidraulic. Counterweights really don’t bounce like you described
cool!

LOL "electric is sustainable". How do you think that electricity is generated? Magically? Out of thin air???
Ours in BC comes from hydroelectric dams.
