In 2002, a small cargo ship sailed across the Red Sea. As a storm approached, the crew continued their work. In the dark and amidst rough waters, a team of elite Israeli operators from Shayetet 13, Israel’s Navy seals, secretly boarded the ship.
To understand why Shayetet 13 was boarding a seemingly innocent ship in the middle of hostile territory, we must go back and look at the events leading up to the operation known as "Noah's Ark."

You are 100% correct in what you said. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't know the facts. Also worth mentioning is that Egypt controlled Gaza and Jordan controlled the West Bank till 1967, these areas were supposed to become a new nation for Arabs ("Palestinians") leaving in the area. When the Arabs-Egypt and Jordan controlled the area, the 20+ Arab countries in the Arab world only concern was complete destruction of Israel.

I’m ex military (non SF) and to me doing a non-compliant (or opposed) boarding sounds MUCH more terrifying, especially in a terrible sea state in the dark. Would choose fast rope 10/10.
You don’t need a special commodore unit for these operations!! Sea pirates does the same things barefoot without any fancy gear!!! 🤣

@@nalindownanout3052 No Commodores usually do not take part in operations like that. A commodore is ranked above a captain and below a rear admiral. The pirates however seldom used to have to worry about armed gurads onboard. The Israeli units did not take any chances knowing what they would probably find onboard.

Usually, every prime minister we have used to be in alot of wars and in elite bureaus. Ultimately, they are training 2 years for this and some are eligable for 10 years. That is my friend, is the hardest training of humanity.
How do I join?
Long process, bootcamp is 4 months basic training, then u can qualify for another year training for a special unit.
After 3 years overall you are considered "Trained".

I have the utmost of respect for Israel, their citizens, and the IDF. You need all three to be the best military, short of the superpowers, and even better than countries larger and more wealthy than Israel. The determination, strength, and to never let the horrors of the Holocaust to happen again makes them one of the best and their spec ops units are right there with the big ones.

Well, we didn't really lose. The problem wasn't that we lacked the skill to defeat the terrorists, we demolished them in a ratio of like 10 to 1. The issue was that the higher ranking members failed to inform us in time

The unit is called Shayetet-13, not Israel's Navy Seal. They're not Israeli Navy Seal but Israeli Amphibious Special Forces Unit.
Thats what the navy seals are in America, same way you can call sayeret matkal "Israel's SAS", it wouldn't be a wrong description.

I was a ropework Instructor/heli dispatcher in the RSA army. The biggest danger when fast roping was when the kit was to heavy and you hit the ground or because of an angled landing like on a ship or rocky terrain. Ankles was the ones that brakes. That had the tendency to hurt.

Wow! What a history, you forgot to mention that after they took control of the vessel they completely stopped for a morning swim in the Red Sea far away from Israeli territorial water.
Also nice to see familiar faces of solders from Yahalom (ס״פ) who unloaded and checked the ammunition.
As for the Agelite Zero, it may come in woodland, but be prepared to sweat in any humid woodland environment.

@@jackm9732 no actually this was the first time fast rope was done in general in our army, I saw the full documentary done here in Israel about this operation and the pilots of the helicopters said they had to convince the guy in the warehouse where the ropes were that he's not messing with him when he called for the ropes because they sat there for years and were never used. it was a really bold classic Israeli move for us to do this technique for the first time ever in an operation on a goddamn moving ship in the red sea.
Since the K-Zero is your most compact and shooting/agility friendly carrier, could you also add different form factors? Like a dedicated carrier for shooters cut plates, so they don't wiggle around. And/ or add the two adjustment straps from the K19 back in, they were cool for both securely and tightly holding the plates and also distributing their weight.
Now I can understand why Israel survive 75 years as nation and hopefully more, one becoz the help of God and also becoz the military strength surpasses the enemy. Long live Israel🇮🇱

The IDF is one of the best in the world. Containment by the U.S. and outside interests is absolutely wrong. This was definitely a while back but having trained with some of their forces I’d suppose this is still how they handle business. Just think about the days of P.M. Golda and Gen. Moshe Dayan. I suspect they could also be using special type of ammunition because if they had gotten into a gun fight on board a ship, won't spraying of bullets pierce the hull of the ship?
I think you are thinking of aircraft, which if you fire ordinary ammunition could have catastrophic effects with a pressurised cabin. A ship's hull is generally made of steel and at worst you are only going to get small holes, which can be plugged afterwards.
Ships have survived holes caused by torpedoes, bullet holes won't sink a ship.
