- It's that time of the year again, Language Assistant applications!
For those new, hello welcome! I'm Ellen from the Philippines and I'm in Spain as a language assistant under the BEDA program and like you, I once wondered what it's like to live in Spain as an English teacher. Though I didn't go into details with what I do at work (we can't film kids) but I hope this gives you an idea of what a normal day in Madrid looks like. If you do want to see life in the countryside, yes, I also have a video for you.

i was with the ministerio and now with BEDA haha I actually ended up doing more travel content that aux life/madrid but hopefully more of this! Are you back to your home country now?

How many languages do you speak?
I am also planning to apply as a language assistant next year.
Also have a question regarding the payments and expenses.
I have heard some schools delay the payments in the beginning.
This happened to me in Valencia, not sure now but in other regions I’ve never experienced it. It’s better to come prepare and have extra money just in case. Also, with renting a house you have to cough up money (deposit, rent, agency fee) so it’s really better to come with extra $$$

Hi! You should check the aux Facebook group, there are lots of info there. Also, the application process depends on where you’re from. All the best!
Does one actually need to be like super fluent in English? Like, I've finished English as a college course but I really can't say I'm fluent entonces I did not teach at all.
do you mean you don’t have teaching experience? We didn’t have one when we started but fluency of the language is necessary. It’s a highly competitive program, not everyone who applies get in. So speaking the language well gives you a higher chance of getting accepted despite not having a teaching degree or teaching experience.

How did you find your apartment huhu in dire need of a roommate
I have an apartment tour coming up and we talked about how to find apartments in Spain there. This flat we found this on Facebook haha an aux used to live here and she posted it to help the owner find new tenants

we get stipend po! Between 800-1300eu depending on the hours or comunidad 😊

Do you need to speak spanish to teach in spain?
hiiiii, you don't need to speak Spanish to teach in Spain but knowing Spanish helps with living in spain :)

Hi po! If you’re a graduating student ask po your university kung partner sila ng auxiliary program. If not naman, check Spanish embassy po ☺️
you have to teach late in the evening too :(
not really late in the evening, this was winter and days are shorter. I actually finish much earlier than other friends. I do try to make sure I’m home before 8 and I only do extra work from Mondays to Thursdays ☺️
@@ellenkhay ahh icic, are we allowed to take extra works? Am waiting for my allocation but think the stipend is too little if I get to go to Madrid ..
@@kenwongsa5273 you can always apply for permiso de trabajo while on a student visa but what most do is give English classes outside school and make a little on the side. You can survive with the aux stipend but it's hard to live with it
